About us

We’re a home warranty company, a company that believes in providing the best service possible to fix what’s broken. Fast. And while home ownership has never been easy, OneGuard is rooted in the belief that life is more important than a leaky faucet. Life is about spending time with family and friends. It's about enjoying time in the backyard. It's about precious time. Time that you can’t afford to waste. Contact us today for your Arizona, Nevada or Texas home warranty service! A home warranty is limited to providing repair or replacement coverage on items when they break down as a result of normal wear and tear. So, proper use and care of systems and appliances is required for coverage. Non-mechanical parts or components that do not contribute to the primary function of appliances are not covered. Check contract for details. Or call one of our Customer Care representatives. We'd love to chat with you.

The replacement of the new water heater went very well.
Description of Work: I had a water heater raaupter and spilling water into the house. One Guard, My home warranty company quickly assigned a plumber to call for an appointment which happened right away and we had someone to the house right away. The water heater was less than two years old and the plumber worked with One Guard and the Water heater manufacturer to acquire a new water heater and it was installed the same day. I still had water damage in the house and had to have someone else take care of it. Over all, One guard was very quick to assist with my problem.

Their customer services was fantastic and at the cost of $55.00 a month you cannot beat it. They have come out multiple times to fix things for us and it has always been a good experience and was all covered by a monthly service fee in addition to a trip charge.
Description of Work: We had a leak that resulted in a flood and appliance that were not working properly. They have also worked on our garage door.

I just bought my home and signed up for one guard after much research on Angie's list. My first thing I got was my home rekeyed. I was all alone and needed to feel safe. I called and had great customer service especially being at 2am. The next day I got a call and the scheduled service was booked. When the day cane the service man introduced himself, explained what he was going to do, and he went to work. He had the job done in 30 minutes. He was very friendly, and courteous (he even played with my puppy). I am very impressed, and now I feel safe in my new home!

HORRIBLE!!! On Monday Oct 12 @ approx. 8:30 a.m. I called One Guard in re a tankless water heater...They said their vendor would contact me w/I 4 hours...There was NO contact from anyone, so Tu morning I sent an email to One Guard...Still NOTHING...So, Tu late afternoon I called One Guard once again...They then contacted the vendor, who admitted they had mis-placed the work order...Finally, late Tu afternoon the vendor called and set up an appointment foe late Thu afternoon (a full 4 workdays past my original call)...The 'tech' took one look at the unit and said; "I'm afraid to touch it for fear of shorting out the whole unit"...On the following Tu (8 days past my original call) the vendor called to set up an appointment for Thu the 24th...The same tech returned w/ his supervisor(?)...They determined that a part was needed...That was over TWO weeks ago...I have heard nothing from One Guard, nor the vendor...It has now been FOUR weeks since my original call to One Guard, and half my house still has no hot water... In what world is this acceptable service???

Response from OneGuard Home Warranties
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments about your recent service experience with OneGuard Home Warranties and the plumbing contractor that repaired the tankless water heater at your home. Your feedback is critical and we appreciate the opportunity to look into this situation to determine why there was a delay in the service you received. Our number one goal is to provide a level of timely service to exceed your expectations, and to minimize the inconvenience to you. We truly apologize for the frustration you felt with this experience, and have taken steps to address your specific situation. We have reviewed the entire timeline with respect to your claim, and the information provided in your review is accurate. The timeframe to complete the repair spanned nearly one month. During this time, OneGuard was in communication with the contractor to obtain status updates as the claim was escalated due to scheduling problems. We finally resolved the scheduling issues and then the repair required a special order part, and timeframe was involved with that process. Please know we have followed up again with the service contractor, and it is our understanding the faulty element was replaced. The repair has been completed and hot water has been restored to the master shower. We hope the service technician was also able to answer any remaining questions you had regarding your tankless water heater while he was on site. This information has been escalated to our executive management team for internal review, and we have communicated directly with the service contractor regarding your concerns. Your satisfaction is extremely important to us and we want to be sure you know that we take this information seriously. It allows us to improve processes and to provide additional training to our Customer Care representatives and service contractors. Thank you again for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to provide this information. We sincerely hope it helps. I had to have a new wall mount toilet. One contractor came and quoted a real high price, $1800.00 range. We talked, and the next day another contractor came in with a lower price, $1,000.00. Second contractor was the best. Polite, honest, and fast. The warranty is a good thing for a 32 year old house.

We purchased a Home Warranty from them. We have needed to call them for two different items. 1st was a water heater problem. The company that they sent out didn't do anything but try to sale us on thousands of dollars of work that would not be covered by the home warranty. The Second Items was a microwave that needed fixing. The company that came out did there job as they were supposed to and we were happy with the service from him. So currently we are 50/50 with them. We will see how it goes next time.

Until this instance, I loved my home warranty company. I have been telling all of my co-workers and friends that this was the best company. They were always responsive, and explained my benefits and costs prior to any services performed. But now we have hit a snag. My A/C unit stopped working two weeks ago and I called a service request to OneGuard. They sent out a technician within three days to look at my unit. The technician fixed the problem, but during the process he noticed a crack in my furnace which deadlined the furnace completely. His company contact OneGuard to find out if they could go ahead and fix the furnace as well. OneGuard never called back. I finally called them two days later and they asked to see my home inspection report from when I purchased the house (4 months ago). I provided them with the document and they said they would call back the next day. They did not call back andafter another two days I finally called them. The man I spoke with informed me that the crack in my heater must have existed prior to my purchasing the home and so they would not cover it. The inspection report does not mention ANY CRACK at all, though it details with photographs every other issue the inspector encountered. OneGuard says that the crack 'surely existed' prior to my purchasing the home, even though it is not mentioned in the inspeciton report, and so they will not cover it. There is NO PROOF that this crack existed, there is no documentation that this crack existed, and it is extremly probable that this occurred after I purchased the home. The company obviously wanted the inspection report thinking it would help them deny the claim. When the inspection report did not support their theory that this issue existed prior to my purchasing the home, they decided to base their denial solely on their UNSCIENTIFIC ASSUMPTION that this MUST HAVE EXISTED. With no proof at all. It makes no sense. They essentially told me that I should have known, via psychic powers, that this was/would be a problem when I bought the house, and so they won't cover it. I want Angie's List customers to know that this company is great for small things, but the first time you bring them any substantial issue they will simply deny to fix what they claim to cover based on ridiculous assumptions such as you should have known this was going to be a problem. I am having my inspection company contact OneGuard to explain what they already wrote in their report, that this was not a known problem at the time of the purchase and if it had been a problem it would have been documented accordingly. I will update this review once things reach a final conclusion, but I fear it will not get better. I have already told three people in my office, and my sister, all who are looking for a home warranty company, to not purchase from OneGuard (I work with the military who are always moving in and out and always looking for home warranty companies to cover their homes when they purchase, sell, or rent out a home). Good luck to anyone looking for a home warranty company, but pass this one by.
Description of Work: The provider is refusing to perform a service based on unproved assumptions.

Response from OneGuard Home Warranties
Thank you for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to respond to your review. We sincerely regret that you are unhappy with the terms of the service agreement and we hope to clarify why the claim for the heating system was denied. We have investigated the entire claim with respect to your heater exchanger, and believe we have acted in good faith and within the terms of the service agreement. The OneGuard team reviews the nature and cause of the issue you are experiencing, and will do everything possible to cover your claim. Please know we are required to follow the parameters set forth in the service agreement, and favor on the side of our customers when the situation is unclear. Here is a review of the specific timeline of events in relation to your claim and what led to our ultimate decision: On October 26, 2013, you submitted a claim for the air conditioning system. The air conditioner that cools the downstairs rooms would not turn on. A work order was created on your behalf and forwarded to the service contractor. You called OneGuard on October 28, 2013, to advise that the thermostat was also not working, and that information was added to the work order as well for the technician to troubleshoot. On October 29, 2013, the service technician was dispatched to the home and provided OneGuard with the following information: The air conditioning unit had a faulty run capacitor and the technician replaced it to complete the repair. While assessing the air conditioner, the technician discovered that the furnace was in extremely poor condition. He advised that the heater exchanger was rusted through, and there was a lot of soot build up in the unit due to lack of maintenance. He briefly turned the unit on and black soot blew out. Therefore, he turned it off immediately because he believed it to be a safety hazard where poisonous gases and carbon monoxide could be released into the home. The unit was damaged to the point where it should no longer be used. He advised OneGuard that the gas valve for the unit was shut off, and it looks to be the first time the heating system has been turned for some time. He recommended replacement. The technician also forwarded pictures to OneGuard to demonstrate his findings. At this point, OneGuard would request to see a copy of the home inspection report. OneGuard often asks for home inspection reports on new policies. This is a common practice of ours because it is a simple way to determine if the unit was in good working condition prior to the effective date of your warranty, to ensure we can cover the mechanical failure that was diagnosed by the technician. OneGuard’s Authorization team took all information into consideration: the technician’s diagnosis, pictures, and the home inspection. Upon review, the claim would be denied due to the extreme state of the heater exchanger being in this condition prior to the start of the home warranty. Please note that in order to complete a full inspection of the heater, the inspector would have to open the unit for full access. If the heater exchanger had been fully inspected, it would have been reported on the home inspection as deficient. Please allow us to elaborate on the information provided in the homeowner’s inspection report. On page 2 of 14, the inspector notes that the heat exchanger, along with several other items, may not have been fully inspected. It also notes that the inspection may not reveal all deficiencies. Further, it states it is the client’s responsibility to obtain further evaluations and/or cost estimates from qualified service professionals. Evaluations by qualified tradesmen may lead to the discovery of additional deficiencies which may involve additional repair costs. Additionally, the date of the inspection is June 11, 2013, and the ambient outdoor temperature at the time would be too high to test the heating system. With respect to the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems (page 8 of 14), the report indicates the main unit and the downstairs unit were Inspected (I) and also had Deficiency (D). Corrections were recommended on the main unit. Additionally, the upstairs unit noted rust on the burners, and cleaning and evaluating the system was advised. It would take an extended period of time for the heater to deteriorate to its present condition. The evidence of extreme soot buildup and rust corrosion indicates the severe conditions existed prior to the start of the home warranty. If the heater exchanger was inspected, the conditions would have been documented. It is not probable that the condition of the unit occurred after the purchase of the home, and is not based on assumption. The denial is based on the professional diagnosis of the service contractor who assessed the unit firsthand. The unit was not in good working condition at the start of the policy. The information in the home inspection recommends further evaluation by qualified professionals. Therefore, based on that information, we believe the unit should have been further assessed to ensure the entire system was fully functional. We understand that you have requested for your home inspector to contact the representative in our Authorizations department to further discuss. Please know we would be happy to talk with them on your behalf. In summary, OneGuard Home Warranties would not cover the repair or replacement of the heat exchanger due to the heater not being in working condition at the start of the home warranty. The evidence of extreme soot buildup and rust corrosion indicates the severe conditions existed prior to the start of the home warranty. If the heater exchanger was inspected by the home inspector, the conditions would have been documented. It is not probable that the condition of the unit occurred after the purchase of the home, and is not based on assumption. The denial is based on the professional analysis of the service contractor who assessed the unit firsthand. The state of the unit is a result of a long-term lack of maintenance and was not in good working condition at the start of the policy. The denial of the claim still applies. We know that nobody wants to hear that their claim has been denied. We never want to deny a claim, and actually look for means by which to cover the claim whenever such action is possible under the law and in accordance with our contractual obligations. Thank you for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to provide this information. We sincerely hope it helps clarify the situation. Sincerely, OneGuard Home Warranties Customer Relations Team Office: 888.896.0014 ext. 9002 [removed hyperlink]

We have been VERY HAPPY One Guard customers since we first purchased the home warranty service contract about two years ago. Prior to One Guard, we were with a very large home warranty company (beginning with the letter "A"). Our six year experience with that prior home warranty company was nothing short of miserable and frustrating. Every call had to be elevated to upper management in order to get results. On the last call with the prior home warranty company, I decided to ask the service provider who they themselves recommended for a good home warranties. His response was One Guard. I met the area One Gaurd representative and decided to sign up. On our first call with One Guard, the tone and professionalism were remarkably so different in comparison to our prior home warranty company that we were floored. At first, we thought okay, it may be because we are new customers but that assessment was totally wrong. For the past nearly two years, we have had "stellar" service from One Guard. Although we may have experienced one of their "odd" service providers, One Guard stands behind you and looks to the entire picture before making a decision. And if one of their service providers is "odd" they will take the steps to investigate. One Guards employees/call center customer service representatives are each excellent. Whatever One Guard is doing in the ongoing training of their employees...it is working! Although one never wants to call your home warranty company, when it is necessary, it helps tremendously when the company's customer service representatives are: 1- courteous and professional, 2- care about your needs and ask questions to ensure they understand the problem, and 3- answer all your questions and then assess your understanding so that there is no misunderstanding. It is clear One Guard home warranty is a professional, proficient and caring company. It is apparent their management team does what it takes to ensure the company is building positive and strong business relationships...which is how a company stays in business. This past incident, we needed a water heater replaced. The job was done seamlessly from call to One Guard, to the call from their service provider, to the provider's visit and to the repair. Thanks One Guard!

I had a 3 year old Samsung HE Front Load washer that failed to stop spinning. The technician diagnosed the problem as an issue with the drum being out of alignment and would not spin fast enough to trip the sensor. Long story short the repair was estimated at $860.00. One Guard sent me an email the next day offering me my choice of a new washer, but not the same brand, or a check for $678 to purchase one of my choice. I opted for the check and it arrived about 10 days later. We purchased a new washer, put it on the Visa and paid it off before the bill came due. Best service I've had from a Home Warranty company in the past 15 years.

Response from OneGuard Home Warranties
Thank you for sharing your comments and allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to respond to your review. Our top priority is to always offer and an exceptional customer experience and exceed your expectations, and we sincerely regret we did not do that in your situation. OneGuard is a company that has strong integrity and a standard set of Core Values that we live by in our day to day operations, and we pride ourselves on providing honest professional service to all our homeowners. Please let it go on record that OneGuard did not discontinue your coverage because you used it. OneGuard processed several claims on your behalf during your three years as a valued customer. However, in a previous Angie’s List review you posted in March of 2013, you expressed a blatant dissatisfaction with your oven repair. You stated you would not recommend or use our company, and we took that information to heart. When your warranty expired on September 19, 2013, we did not extend an offer of renewal to you. Thank you for your past business and providing your feedback. We truly appreciate it. Sincerely, OneGuard Home Warranties Customer Relations Team oneguardhomewarranty.com

Response from OneGuard Home Warranties
Thank you for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to respond to your review. We sincerely hope to clarify this information, and apologize that you were unhappy with your home warranty. Our goal is to always provide an exceptional customer experience and exceed your expectations. Please note your policy expired on October 23, 2013. At that time, OneGuard did not extend an offer of renewal to you. This decision was based on the discontent you previously expressed when the claim for your oven was not covered. At the start of your home warranty, you initiated a claim for service for the oven not turning on. Due to the service contract being very new, OneGuard requested a copy of your home inspection report. OneGuard often asks for home inspection reports on new policies as this is a simple way to determine if an item was in good working order prior to the effective date of the policy, so we can ensure that we can cover the mechanical failure you are experiencing per the terms of the service contract. In this situation, the home inspection noted there were problems with the oven not heating, and the breakdown was considered a known pre-existing condition. Therefore, the repair was not covered by OneGuard, and this information was explained to you. Please let it go on record that during the year as a customer, OneGuard covered several repairs for you, including the air conditioning system, heating system, and the garbage disposal. Thank you again for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to provide this information. We hope it helps clarify the situation. Sincerely, OneGuard Home Warranties oneguardhomewarranty.com

One call is all it takes. The customer service will take care of the rest. Cynthia is the agent I've worked with few times, she is the best. I highly recommend OneGaurd to anyone that is looking for a first classservice. I've dealt with 2 other home warranty companies, neither one comes even close to OneGuard.
Description of Work: They provide home warranties. They are very professional and fast in solving issues.

We've used Oneguard for over 10 years. They used to be called Service One. We noted the water heater to be leaking, called them, they had someone out the next day, who reinstalled a water heater in less than an hour. This has consistently been the service we have received from them. Their subcontractors (with the exception of one electrician, who was terrible) have been high quality, fast, efficient, and complete. Their prices have gone up over the years, and covered items have gone down, so check what you need. However, they have at various times fixed our garage door, replaced water heaters, fixed plumbing problems, fixed our A/C units several times, replaced our dishwasher and washer, and serviced our dryer several times. We continue to use them because they fix the problems (again, with the exception of the electrician, who failed miserably), and they take good care of us.
