About us

We’re a home warranty company, a company that believes in providing the best service possible to fix what’s broken. Fast. And while home ownership has never been easy, OneGuard is rooted in the belief that life is more important than a leaky faucet. Life is about spending time with family and friends. It's about enjoying time in the backyard. It's about precious time. Time that you can’t afford to waste. Contact us today for your Arizona, Nevada or Texas home warranty service! A home warranty is limited to providing repair or replacement coverage on items when they break down as a result of normal wear and tear. So, proper use and care of systems and appliances is required for coverage. Non-mechanical parts or components that do not contribute to the primary function of appliances are not covered. Check contract for details. Or call one of our Customer Care representatives. We'd love to chat with you.

Took 5 visits but when it didn’t stay fixed after 4, they had another company come out for a “2nd opinion” at no cost to me. Finally got it fixed at no additional cost to me other than the monthly fee and the single payment for the initial visit. Works like a charm now.
Description of Work: inside and outside HVAC didn't work. Initial visit indicated the fan in the outside unit didn't work but it was older so had to be ordered. Ready the next day and replaced it. See the rest below.

Timely initial response to phone call followed by same day service and quick repair. Technician also spend time showing nuances of system (previous owner left no owner's manual). Now I have a much better understanding of the system and can make some resets without having to experiment. Extremely pleased with this company.

Avoid this company at all costs.. They are the typical home warranty company that doesn't pay their claims. This experience has been an absolute nightmare - This company epitomizes the worst of home warranty companies, in that they look for the most ridiculous loop hole to rationalize NOT paying their claims. The contractors they dispatched were even worse.. Avoid Speedy Electric especially their analysis was obsene!
Description of Work: Absolutely nothing - their whole motive is to not pay any claims.. In fact, the first time i used the company the first words out of the reps mouth was, well they probably aren't going to cover this claim, because you have only been with the company for less than a couple of months!

I was a loyal customer for 5 years. In the last 3 weeks I owned my house I had the need to file 2 service requests. The AC stopped working after our home inspection. It was the first week of 100 degree temps. It took them 4 days to get a service provider to my house (and I was told there were not other options). The first night I stayed in an 85 degree house, the next afternoon it was 95 degrees, so I took my dog and lived at the Westin for the remainder of the week. The appointment was scheduled for Friday Afternoon between 1 and 4 and the technician didn't arrive until 7:30 PM. It took nearly an hour to get the unit operational and it did not cool down in the house until after 2 am. I provided the guy $60 cash to pay my service fee as the One Guard website was not accepting the warranty requests with credit cards attached. 4 weeks later, after several calls to customer service, I was finally told the reason the warranty was not transferred to the new owners was I had 2 outstanding service fees. One for the AC that I paid in cash and one for a Refrigerator repair where the technician did not fix my ice maker (supposedly ordered a part that did not come in until after I moved). I authorized another payment for these expenses as I was being held hostage over $120, however I disagree that any of the moneys were owed on either as 1) the money was already paid, and 2) the service was not preformed. I was told if I could provide my receipts they would refund this however all of that paperwork is still packed. I just feel like this is horrible customer service to someone who was a loyal customer for years. Makes me not want to use them again. I am in need of a new warranty on my new house but will not be using them. After being told I was lying about the AC payment, I feel like this company has more loyalty to their technicians and not their customers. Questioning my integrity is the worst offence you can commit. Shame on them.

The repair company was great. I heard from them within a couple of hours to schedule for the next morning. The guy showed up on time - and first thing in the morning. He checked everything out told me he couldn't find a mechanical issue at that time and guessed that the unit had frozen up. He explained what I should look for and action to take if the problem recurred.
Description of Work: I contacted OneGuard on Saturday afternoon because my AC was not cooling. The girl put me on hold for a few moments while she called all providers within a 20 mile radius to see if anyone could come that day. While no one could get there that afternoon she did book me with a company that could be there the next morning. I appreciated that she took the time to make calls rather than just send my service request to a company that wouldn't have been able to schedule me the following day.

1) Friday Jun 27 our HVAC system compressor stop working. ( Houston 90 + degrees ) 2) we called Oneguard to schedule an emergency service but they didn't because technically we do have 2 AC systems in the house ( independent from each other but not dimensioned to serve the whole house ). 3) We did reschedule with the contractor for Tuesday morning between 11 to 3 p/m 4) On tuesday morning the contractor left a 5 second voicemail at 10:44 a/m on my phone saying he was on his way when we did ask clearly to contact my wife. 5) at 11:20 he called my wife saying that he was at home, nobody was there and he would charge the service fee of 59$ 6) My wife did contact me and than I did see the voicemail but no attempt of calls, I might have been in a no reception area. 7) I did contact oneguard to try to solve the situation and the answer is that a 5 second voicemail is all it takes to charge the service call. 8) I did contact oueguard again getting the same answer, at least they all read the same book. 9) I sent an email request ( can't do it over the phone ) to cancel the warranty contract. 50$ for breaking the contract early. As cliff notes: the company provided by oneguard for the call is not even on angie's list but is on yellow pages http://www.yellowpages.com/houston-tx/mip/mann-ac-and-heating-inc-470067435 and reading the reviews, it's scary. I did used oneguard before and I had mixed feelings on the contractors they tend to use... one quoted me 6000$ to replace my A/C system ( the other one ) and more than 800$ to replace the fan motor with all the "Scare tactics" that everything will fail soon.... than finally at the 3rd time they sent a guy that did a good job. Same for a plumbing issue that did cost me more than hiring a professional.

Response from OneGuard Home Warranties
Thank you for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to respond to this review. We have reviewed the situation in its entirety and have had numerous conversations with the homeowner regarding the service fee that is due. Please know OneGuard has always acted in good faith and within the parameters of the service agreement, and we will not be reimbursing the homeowner the service fee. The homeowner created an air conditioning claim for service for the master bedroom not cooling. A work order was forwarded to our preferred licensed contractor for scheduling. The contractor scheduled a date and time for service directly with the homeowner, with the request of a 30 minute call ahead. Both parties were in agreement of the date and time. The technician honored the homeowner's request, and called prior to his arrival, left a voice message, and proceeded to the home. When he arrived to the home, no one was there and he called OneGuard to advise of the situation. Therefore, OneGuard called and spoke with the homeowner directly who advised that both homeowners were at work. The OneGuard representative provided the homeowner with the technician's direct cell phone number to follow up with him directly. The homeowners scheduled for service during a time when neither homeowner was available to be home. The contractor arrived to the home during the agreed upon time and date, with no indication from the homeowner that they needed to reschedule. Per the terms of the OneGuard home warranty agreement, the service fee is due when the work order is created and the contractor is dispatched to the home. Unfortunately, in this situation the homeowner was not there. We believe it was the homeowner's responsibility to reach out to OneGuard or the contractor to let us know they would not be available, and the appointment could have been rescheduled to accommodate them. On behalf of OneGuard Home Warranties, we sincerely regret the homeowners' dissatisfaction with our decision and that they have decided to cancel their policy. Please note, per the terms of the service agreement, OneGuard requires cancellations are completed in writing and a $50 administration fee is applied. Thank you again for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to provide this information. We sincerely hope it helps. Sincerely, OneGuard Home Warranties Customer Relations Team

One guard took my request for service and assigned it to Pruitt Plumbing who called me within a couple of hours. They were going to come out the next day but I had to put it off to the following Monday. They came on time and said the part I needed was not on his truck. He got what was needed and came back the next day and installed it.

Purchased a home warranty not the least expensive, middle of the road, with extra coverage (pre-existing conditions). A week after having renters move in they had a problem with the electricity. Only half of the house had power. Called one guard, they sent out a knowledgeable electrician that diagnosed that our breaker box was old and had malfunctioned. Shortly after received a call from One guard stating that they have declined to approve the repair for the faulty breaker box and we will be liable for the expenses even though we purchased the pre existing conditions. Never the less, after speaking to the electrician and him stating that no inspector would be able to visibly see that the box had malfunction with out physically removing the breaker box, we paid for the repairs ourselves and have cancelled the policy with one guard. Their authorization department told me they always hold the right to refuse payment on any service performed if they chose to. That is not a value in a company that I would support.
Description of Work: Had an electrical problem. Sent out an electrician, invoiced me 2x for the same call.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent service experience with OneGuard Home Warranties. Please know our number one priority is to always provide service that exceeds your expectations and we truly regret your dissatisfaction with the outcome of the claim. We have reviewed the claim in its entirety. The effective date of the home warranty was June 13, 2014, and a claim for the electrical system was initiated on June 21, 2014. You advised the entire home had lost power. When you reset the breaker, there were still areas of the home that did not have power. Please note, new policies are subject to pre-existing conditions and per the terms of the service agreement, OneGuard requires that covered items are in good working condition at the start of the warranty. The licensed electrician that was dispatched to the home advised OneGuard that the electrical panel was in very poor condition, and the main breaker was smoking, and had melted to the buss bar. In his professional opinion, the electrical problems were pre-existing, and in effect longer than 8 days based on the current condition of panel, main breaker and buss bar . The claim was ultimately denied by OneGuard due to the pre-existing condition of the electrical system prior to the effective date of the home warranty. Thank you for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to provide you with this information. We sincerely hope it helps. Sincerely, OneGuard Home Warranties Customer Relations Team

The tech showed up on time and quickly resolved the noise issue. He also determined that the refrigerator was freezing the produce because the temperature controlling device was faulty. He order a new controller and returned a week later to install. This solved the freezing produce issue. But now I know that they most likely will not send out a tech unless something is totally broken. I guess I'll have to live with my dishwasher that does not wash dishes for now, at least until it fails to turn on.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator began to make a loud noise. We called to have it checked out and were told that noises do not constitute a faulty appliance. A week later we called again because the fridge was freezing all the produce even though we had it on the lowest setting, they now agreed to send out a service provider.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your comments regarding your recent service experience with OneGuard Home Warranties. We apologize if you experienced any frustration about the information you received. Please know the home warranty does not cover for noise, but it does cover for the mechanical breakdown of a covered item. However, noise can sometimes be indicative that a problem exists. In your particular situation, the service technician advised OneGuard that the noise your were experiencing was due to the drain pan that was not properly secured. He secured the drain pain and the noise stopped. During the visit, the technician also discovered the temperature cooling device was not working properly as it was freezing your produce. He recommended replacement of the component and upon installation, advised OneGuard the repair was successfully completed. With respect to your dishwasher, we can definitely create a work order on your behalf to assess the unit if it is not cleaning dishes properly for the applicable service fee. Please feel free to contact our Customer Care division for guidance and one of our representatives would be very happy to help if you decide to create a claim. On behalf of OneGuard Home Warranties, we would like to thank you for your business. We truly value your feedback and we look forward to serving you in the future. It would be hard to overstate the difficulty I had working with OneGuard. My tenant felt her A/C was not working well, so I called Oneguard to make use of the policy I purchased from them two months ago. They sent someone out two days later. He said he could not fix it because it was pre-existing. I explained the policy I had (which covers undetectable pre-existing)- and he acknowledged that I would have no way to have known that this was happening since it was in the middle of the unit. I also explained that someone came out just a few months ago- prior to getting my policy with Oneguard - to fix a motor issue with the unit. When that company left, the unit was functioning perfectly. Somewhere in the communication chain, the message got twisted. OneGuard claimed that I told the contractor that the exact same issue was fixed 1 month ago. Therefore, they declined to cover the service. Not only did this conversation not take place, but the AC company who I then called to fix the issue has put in writing that what OneGuard claims to have as the reason for decline is not true. I produced my house inspection from one year ago showing the unit was in perfect order when I bought it. I showed receipts from the previous work done on the house. They simply didn't care. They had their reason to decline coverage, and they were good to go. OneGuard doesn't care. I called the CEO, attempted to explain the situation to others, but each has reiterated the exact same argument. The worst is that I asked for a refund and they offered to 'give me a pro-rated portion back -50 dollars.' For literally providing no services, intentionally committing fraud, and stealing money from me - they won't even give me a refund. In my entire life, I have never had a worse experience with any company. What they are doing is both unethical and illegal, but not worth the financial cost to fight. DO NOT WORK WITH ONEGUARD
Description of Work: Declined coverage due to 'pre-existing' problem on my A/C unit for a leak within the unit. The comedy? I paid extra for pre-existing coverage.

Response from OneGuard Home Warranties
Thank you for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to respond to this complaint to provide clarification on important points. Please know we have reviewed this claim in its entirety and will explain why the repairs to the homeowner’s air conditioning system will not be covered under the service agreement. The OneGuard team reviews the nature and cause of the issue the homeowner is experiencing, and will do everything possible to cover the claim. However, we are required to follow the parameters set forth in the service agreement. Our representatives have explained to the homeowner that repairs for the air conditioning system will not be covered under the service agreement, due to the pre-existing condition and improper repairs completed on the system prior to the effective date of the home warranty. Per the terms of the service agreement OneGuard requires that all covered items are in good working condition at the start of the home warranty. Please note, the effective date of the home warranty was May 3, 2014. On June 11, 2014, our preferred service contractor was dispatched to the home and provided the following diagnosis to OneGuard for the air conditioning unit that was not cooling properly: The discharge line on the condensing unit has been improperly repaired and has resulted in a visible Freon leak. It appears the unit has very recently been worked on, and Freon may have been freshly added because the pressure reading is high at 100 PSI (it should read around 60 PSI), and the leak is still present. The technician advised it is a big leak and there is a large amount of oil and residue surrounding the unit that indicates that leak has been going on for a long period of time, and longer than a month. Additionally, with such a large leak present the system would likely be depleted of Freon. The technician forwarded pictures and a video to OneGuard documenting his findings. The technician also advised that he spoke with the homeowner and the tenant, and they told him that someone worked on the unit about two months ago, to repair the Freon leak that is still occurring in the same place. The technician suggested that the original party that made previous repairs to the unit, return to the property and make the proper corrections, and also shared the pictures and video he took with the homeowner to help him understand the situation firsthand. According to the technician, the homeowner said he was going to have OneGuard make the repairs because he purchased additional coverage for undetectable pre-existing conditions. In the opinion of our professional licensed HVAC contractor, OneGuard was specifically advised that the failure is due to the improper repair and ongoing leak of Freon. The OneGuard authorization team took all of the information into consideration: The professional diagnosis of the service contractor, the photos and video, and the current condition of the unit. The claim would not be covered under the service agreement. A representative from OneGuard’s Authorization team spoke with the homeowner directly to explain the claim would not be covered due to the improper repairs which have caused the unit to fail. During the conversation the homeowner advised those repairs were done a year ago. Our representative explained that OneGuard would still not cover the repair because the condition of the unit is considered to be pre-existing and was happening prior to the effective date of the home warranty. Please note, the homeowner did not provide an entire inspection report for the air conditioning system, only a snippet was shared. However, the portion that was provided revealed the temperature split was below the industry standard. Additionally, the homeowner provided a receipt to OneGuard for the heating portion of the unit, and no other receipts to show proper repairs were completed to the items in question on the existing claim. Please see the excerpts below taken from the service agreement to help further explain our position: A. WARRANTY COVERAGE 1. In accordance with the terms and conditions of this residential service contract, OneGuard Home Warranties will repair or replace your selected covered items so long as they: a. Are in good, safe working order and correctly installed at the premises on the effective date of this warranty contract. G. OPTIONAL ITEMS 1. UNDETECTABLE PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS COVERAGE COVERED: When this option is selected and premium is paid, failures of covered items caused by unknown pre-existing conditions are covered so long as the mechanical failure was a result of normal wear-and-tear and would not have been detectable by a simple visual inspection and/or by operating the system or appliance. Note: Known problems or defects that existed on the effective date of the service contract are not covered by this option. The contract holder must have known pre-existing defects correctly repaired by a service contractor and provide OneGuard any paid invoices evidencing the repairs before the defective item can be covered by this residential service contract. H. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY This residential service contract is intended to cover the costs to repair or replace your covered home systems and appliances when they fail due to normal wear-and-tear; however, coverage is not all inclusive. There may be situations in which you will be responsible to pay additional costs for parts or services not covered by this residential service contract. In those cases, we will work with you to determine the best course of action to reasonably minimize your out-of-pocket costs. 1. General Exclusions. This contract does not cover: a. Known defects that existed on or before the effective date. Unknown pre-existing conditions are not covered by this residential service contract unless (1) the contract holder has selected and paid for the Unknown Pre-existing Conditions Option, (2) the pre-existing defect or malfunction would not have been detectable by visual inspection and a simple mechanical test, and (3) the defect or malfunction occurred as a result of normal wear-and-tear. The residential service contract holder must have all known pre-existing breakdowns and defects correctly repaired by a service professional and deliver to OneGuard any paid invoices evidencing the repairs before the defective item can be covered by this residential service contract. b. Routine maintenance of appliances and equipment. You are responsible for maintenance and cleaning of covered items as specified by the manufacturer. c. Failure of parts or components caused by the lack of manufacturer recommendation maintenance of this contract are not covered. d. Breakdowns that are caused by any condition that is not considered to be normal wear-and-tear such as but not limited to: (1) Misuse or abuse; (2) lack of capacity or insufficient or undersized systems; (3) improper previous repairs or modifications. The homeowner is also expressing discontent because OneGuard deducted a $50 administration fee when he cancelled the warranty agreement. Please find the information below taken from the service agreement which outlines our cancellation procedure: I. CANCELLATION 2. In the even that a Direct-to-Consumer Customer’s contract is cancelled within 30 days of the effective date, the contract holder shall be entitled to a full refund of the paid contract fees less any unpaid service fees and claims costs incurred. In the event that such contract is cancelled after 30th day from the effective date, the contract holder shall be entitled to do a pro-rata refund of the paid plan fee for the unexpired term less (a) any unpaid service fees, (b) any service costs incurred, and (c) a $50.00 administration fee. Cancellation of this warranty must be in writing. We regret that the homeowner is dissatisfied with the outcome of the claim. Please note, OneGuard Home Warranties has always acted in good faith in our efforts to provide service, and within the parameters of the service agreement. The homeowner entered into the service agreement with the expectation that OneGuard would complete repairs to the air conditioning system that was not in good working condition due to a pre-existing leak and improper repairs that were completed on the unit. That is not how the home warranty works. In closing, OneGuard Home Warranties will not be making repairs to the air conditioning system due to the improper repairs completed and the pre-existing condition of the unit prior to the effective date of the service agreement. Thank you again for allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to provide you with this information. We sincerely hope it helps.

This unit was extensively repaired in March/April but the warranty was only for 30 days. 45 days later the unit need another repair that was supposedly done by the first contractor. It took a long time for the second vendor to get the part which turned out to be the wrong one. Another week and the repair was done. It will take awhile to see if it works. OneGuard is a good company but sometimes the responsiveness is slow and the warranty is much to short. We like the company but they have gotten way too expensive compared to others so we dropped their service.

Response from OneGuard Home Warranties
Thank you so much for providing feedback regarding your recent service experience with OneGuard Home Warranties. Please know our number one priority is to always provide a level of service in a timely manner that always exceeds your expectations, and we sincerely regret that did not happen in your situation. We are very happy to know the repair has been completed to date, but please let us know if you need additional assistance. We understand you have decided not to renew your home warranty due to the increase in the annual premium. Please note, in the last year as a OneGuard Home Warranty customer, OneGuard has paid for a total of ten claims on your behalf in the amount of $2,676. As the general price of goods and services increases over time due to inflation and our frequency of claims is high, the price of the renewal may increase, especially when that amount exceeds the total premium paid over the life of a policy. Thank you for your past business and allowing OneGuard Home Warranties the opportunity to provide you with this information. We sincerely hope it helps. Please let us know if you have any questions as we are always happy to help. Sincerely, Customer Relations Team OneGuard Home Warranties P: 888.896.0014

The first problem was a garage door opener that was not working properly. Service was scheduled to 9 am. The technician arrived at 8:55, diagnosed the problem as a broken spring, and had it repaired by 9:30. Great Service! The second problem was a high water bill and concerns about a leaking irrigation system.. Same senario,. Repairman on time, tested the system and found no leaks. Checked out the entire system and determined that sprinkler heads were set too high, too often, and showed me how to work the system. We were new to the house and REALLY appreciated the help.
Description of Work: Contacted the provider on two occasions and was contacted by the repair people within four hours and had service performed the next day.

OneGuard Home Warranties dispatched a plumber ( whom I have worked with before, and given an 'A' rating on Angies List! ) promptly. The plumber was able to come the next day after I put in the claim. As it turns out, my 1/3 hp garbage disposal had some internal seal break and was the cause of the leak. The plumber already had a brand new Badger 1/2 hp disposer in his truck, ready to install. Within 30 minutes my plumbing issue was solved and the new disposer unit was grinding away perfectly. Another great reason to have a home warranty by OneGuard! Prompt, courteous service by a professional service person that knows their stuff.

We purchased One Guard last year, which was the first year in our new home. We had a few calls for other things around the house and all of those calls went okay. Not great, but okay. For example the first company One Guard sent to fix our AC control panel didn't program it right and didn't install the right panel so the controller still didn't work for the house when he left although he said it's working fine. So I had the One Guard send out another company who was able to fix it, but I had to take another four hours out of work to wait for another company to be sent. Our biggest issue is our dishwasher. Last year we had one company come back four or five times to TRY and figure out what was wrong with it. The company was very unprofessional on the phone and at the house for ALL visits. After being furious of no resolution and countless days off work for this same company I repeatedly requested a new company to be sent. They offered to buy out the dishwasher and I opted out asking for them to just fix it. After much headache, the dishwasher is still not fixed, another company was sent out, and I was told "it's fine." It's not cleaning dishes or drying them so I would chalk that up as less than "fine." I'm not sure what our next plan of action is for the dishwasher so we'll have to see! Now I did end up renewing with One Guard to give them one more chance for two reasons. I was notified that the company that was sent out for the dishwasher was no longer on their call list and it didn't seem as any other home warranty's in the area received any better reviews. One Guard is professional on the phone and responsive and their prices seem fair so I decided to give them one more go around. Hopefully all goes well!
Description of Work: Sent out a very unreliable, unprofessional, unreputable company to work on our dishwasher.

OneGuard Home Warranties is committed to repairing or replacing items covered under your service contract when you encounter a mechanical breakdown. The technician arrived on time and did a good job re-keying all the locks. He also gave a few useful tips. The cost was lower than hiring a locksmith. Will recommend this company to people who are purchasing a house.

We purchased One Guard along with our new home. The staff and service were great, and they even let us use the Angie's List coupon through the title company. We scheduled a re-key service appointment through them, and the professional they sent out was great! Couldn't be happier!

Very prompt on sending out a repair person that was ranked highly on Angie's list. After being very dissatisfied with American Home Shield we switched to One Guard based on Angie's list, and checked any service being sent to our home with Angie's list. The company sent out completed replaced the opener system within 48 hrs.
