Terrible. Fixed the waterline out of my own pocket. Fixed the water softener out of my own pocket. Found the part needed after one phone call for the refrigerator drawer and was told by Old Guy Repair they don't have an account there - there being the factory authorized parts dealer. Air conditioning was serviced by a Brian Schrock who after several repairs suggested replacement. $8000 later and the unit still will not cool. Shrock has disappeared and so they sent out AUSAir of Texas. They came out once and added a lot of coolant. Nothing. They came out Friday at 3 (several hours delayed). Told I need a new coil. Now One Guard is negotiating because AUS wants to charge me a lot out of pocket despite the warranty. A good chance I will cancel this warranty tomorrow. This is ridiculous and I will probably cancel this tomorrow and just go it alone.

I placed AC malfunction call to my home warranty company and CAT Mechanical was assigned to my claim. I was told I would be called within 4-6 business hours. Although I had to contact them twice, as they never called me as I was told they would, the tech showed up on time, diagnosed the problem quickly with the repair being made within the hour. My home warranty company answered my phone call at 2am, they were extremely helpful and efficient at filing my claim.

The home warranty company was great but the contractor that came out botched the installation and my home flooded during the night ruining my wood floors. The warranty company was very helpful in getting me the insurance claim forms (it was not their fault) and kept in touch with me to see how things were going and then set up a new plumbing company to come out and re-install another water heater. Followup was amazing and i was not alone on it.

Awful. Good customer service is worthless when they use worthless contractors. When we bought our new home the seller gave us the money to purchase a home warranty and I followed the reviews here in Angie's List. I am really happy I did not pay for it. The short story is the folks on the phone at OneGuard are very polite and helpful, however their contractors are worthless. Soon after we moved in I made our washing machine started to leak and made a claim. The technician was worthless. He came onsite, said they did not support stackable washer and dryers, pulled out a piece of lint and left. The washer leaked on the next load. I requested a dryer vent cleaning. Nobody ever contacted me to setup an appointment and I got a call from a contractor a week later saying he was at my door. Unfortunately I was across the country. I had to call OneGuard and stay on hold for ages just to not get charged. I ended up buying a new dryer and paying for a well reviewed dryer vent service out of pocket.

The company has been great to work with - the online chat is a great feature to understand what is covererd and what is not. I bought a 900 policy because we were buying an older home and were not sure what surprises we would find. We found two within three weeks of moving in - we had to replace our Gas line into the home because it was leaking and the Dishwasher quit working. The company has been responsive to my request and quickly scheduled someone to come out and work the issues. They do have some issues with some of the people they use for the work but the OneGuard company is doing what I purchased the home warrenty for - keep me from major expenses.

On Friday 13, had smoke streamiing out of an electrical outlet, pulled the circuit breaker and immediately scheduled an appointment. Was assigned an electrician, and called the electrician. HE said, this is an EMERGENCY and you need someone NOW. He could not make it until following Tuesday. After searching hard, I found a phone number, called, and explained the issue, need to reschedule this for an electrician TODAY. Rep was very nice, they are in Arizona, I am in Dallas TX. Sorry, appointments are via the scheduling team, he cannot schedule an appointment. Sorry, scheduling team is in Arizona, cannot talk to anyone before 10AM Dallas time. Sorry, manager is not available, won't be available until after 10AM Dallas time. Sorry, will have the manager call after 10AM. I cancelled the appointment online, found an electrician who came out immediately (Peerless Electric AWESOME company!) and fixed one problem, found another. Got a call on Sunday from the OneGuard electrician, appointment had not been cancelled. Went online, cancelled it three more times, never updated. I called, rep explained Sorry, it takes 24 hours to update status you see, I see it as cancelled. Sorry, electrician contacted you Sorry, we will contact electrician and explain the appointment has been cancelled. (are you seeing the trend here?) I got a phone call from One Guard later on Sunday Sorry.... PLEASE STOP CANCELLING via the web site, its CANCELLED, but not updated!!!! So stupid me, I assume its cancelled after 4 web attempts, one phone TO OneGuard, one phone call FROM OneGuard. Guess what!!!!! Got charged for the "Cancelled" call. Horrible horrible horrible

Overall my experience was very positive. I definitely gained a lot of value out of using this warranty instead of covering my systems myself. The evaporator cool replacement alone saved me more than the plan costs for the year! I had another company before using oneguard, where I learned an important warranty fact- they sometimes aren't the quickest or most efficient, so taking a cash out can be faster or provide a better service depending on other provider labor charge like using your own plumber or electrician. That being said, I do think some of their providers are definitely better than the ones I'd been using, for example the air conditioner repair company. One thing that really impressed me about Oneguard is that every service company I've had so far has been at least a B rated Angie's list company, whereas in my previous home warranty provider I had more C's and D's. That says a lot to me in the accountability they place on anyone they send to my house!
Description of Work: Multiple services throughout the year- evaporator cool replacement, fix leaking valve on gas stove, fix break in sprinkler, replace ECM modile in air conditioner, replace thermostat (cash out).

Briefly, if I were to purchase another home I would request the purchase price of the warranty be used during closing rather than purchasing the "warranty" product offered by OneGuard. In my view, there were two classes of services provided under my "warranty" through OneGuard. First, are the "discount card" services. These are fixed service items such as lock changing, pest control, and A/C servicing. My understanding is that OneGuard has contracted with various providers to perform a limited set of services at a fixed price (your deductible). In each case I used OneGuard to provide one of these services (lock changes and pest control), the work performed under the service were not the services I wanted performed or that the service provider would recommend. In order to meet the cost required for the service (your deductible) for the provided service the contractor will use different, cheaper chemicals than they otherwise would or spray for control of fewer pests. As another example, the number of keys and locks changed is set regardless of what doors or locks your house has. If you want all the locks changed and that's beyond the basic 'service' provided it would cost you more. I would rather a service be performed correctly and completely rather than be completed partially or differently than a provider would otherwise recommend. The second service are repairs of failed items in your home. I contacted OneGuard for four separate failures. I would recommend submitting the request online. The cases when I phoned, convincing the operator the failed item was covered was always a challenge. I recommend carefully reading all terms of your agreement prior to calling to save your time and frustration. Note: not only do you need to describe the problem accurately, using the correct terminology, to OneGuard when opening the case but the service technician performing the repairs will need to receive approval as well. 1. A gutter falling of the house? Not covered, that's "structural." 2. Although your plumbing system is covered, septic tanks are not (they'll be glad to up-sell you a separate septic contract). By septic tanks they mean anything related or connected to the septic system. Although they list the items not covered I found that if it is in any way associated with the septic system the item is not covered. However, for the septic system issue I called after the emergency was addressed choosing to use a trusted septic company for the after-hours emergency. That highlights another limitation of the "warranty" -- you must initiate the repair with OneGuard allowing them to select the provider that will come out. 3. Broken toilet flooded your house? They'll replace the toilet. However, the repair person had to call the OneGuard representative to explain precisely what broke to get authorization. 4. Garage door opener failure. I found the following list of items not covered by the 'warranty': "GARAGE DOOR OPENER COVERED: Wiring, receiver, switches, capacitor, motor, rail/trolley assembly, push arm and carriage. NOT COVERED: Doors, springs, hinges, adjustments, light bulbs, remote transmitters, track assembly, and non-compliance with current safety standards." Luckily one of the hard wired door openers broke which I was able to clearly (and accurately) describe as what was broken to prevent the item from being "not covered". However, I would estimate the cost to either replace the failed part myself or even for a service call to be roughly the cost of the deductible incurred for service to repair the opener. On the plus side, I found one good company who came to my home to provide services and continue to use them outside of my OneGuard contract. If you want value from a home warranty this product is not for you. The deductible per incident is roughly what you'd pay without the "warranty". For me, the only item I may have saved money on was the toilet replacement. However, saving $100 on a toilet didn't make up for the warranty purchase cost. Furthermore, that doesn't include the water damage and subsequent homeowner's deductible cost I incurred on top of the original toilet failure. You are better purchasing the services you need from providers you select as you need them. f you want piece of mind from a home warranty this product is not for you. In my experience I wasn't protected for most failures or the most expensive failures experienced in my home during the first year of ownership. Instead spend the time or money on finding a good homeowner's insurance policy. If you want a service to select a company to send to your home to repair a problem (if the problem is covered), this product is for you. However, since your on Angie's List you probably don't need that service.

Let me first say I have heard a lot of bad stories and even had a bad experience with other home warranty companies myself. We chose One Guard when we bought our house because of their Angie's List reviews. And I will say the two times we have used them, they at least fulfilled their obligation. Well the second claim has been pending two weeks and we still don't have a dishwasher, but they have agreed to fix it. If you expect prompt service, your not going to get it. It takes at least 3-4 days to get someone out to diagnose your problem. Then several days to get One Guard to approve the repair. Then more days to get the repair company back out to fix it. We have been without a working dishwasher for two weeks now. At least a week of that was waiting for them to approve the repairs. When one of our water heaters went out at Thankksgiving, it took 2-3 weeks to get it fixed, and two different plumbers. There are basically two replaceable parts to an electric water heater, so that's rediculous. If you expect top notch professional repair companies, your not going to get it. remember these are companies working for limited fees so top notch professionals that make good money from non-warranty work are not who they get. When our water heater went out, the first company came out 3 times. The last guy that came was supposedly the owner of the company and said One Guard would have to replace BOTH water heaters. Of course they didn't agree with that and sent someone else out to replace the thermostat that the first company didn't replace in three trips. The repairs are only guaranteed for 30 days, and here less than 60 days later the same water heater is out again. So another $69. We have had One Guard Two years now. The first year was free to us since our realtor paid for it ($663). The second year at $864 we paid. Now it's time to renew. Guess what? A huge price increase again - $1056. That doesn't include the $69 everytime you request service, but remember it's guaranteed for 30 days! I think we won't renew and save the money in case we have future repairs.

They settled with us and we accepted their refund.
Description of Work: One Guard says they cover plumbing stoppages. However, they are not willing to fix ours. We have a french drain pipe attached to our foundation which is clogged. They were unwilling to fix it. If they do not cover French Drains, they need to note that in their contract verbiage. I have yet to find it on their website. We also just called on 1/5/16 about fixing our sprinkler system. OneGuard immediately said they couldn't help us when we paid EXTRA to have our sprinkler system covered in our warranty. We needed a shut out valve replaced. I will be reporting them to BBB.org. They said they don't cover anything that is not attached to the house YET offer extended sprinkler system coverage. HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE! I found this on their website and sent it to their customer service. They called after I sent the email and offered to fix it. It was too late! We already had a plumber come out and fix it sine One Guard initially told us it wasn't covered. One Guard owes us money. This makes me wonder if they train their employees to automatically say no to everything. I purchased a duplex and this was the company my realtor selected to be our home warranty company. The week of closing this company sent me a welcome email with services that would be covered under my plan. These are services that would be very helpful for a landlord (ie. rekey services, pest extermination maintenance). Unfortunately, the company sent me the e-mail in error, and when the representative called me a few days later to go over the plan, she had to tell me that those services were not included in my plan. One would expect to get these basic services relevant to a landlord under their duplex plan, alas it does not. The representative that called me was very helpful, professional, warm, and showed genuine concern for the situation. My intention was to utilize the rekey service immediately since we would be occupying 1 of the units. The representative had me send her the erroneous e-mail and within an hour she called me back to let me know that they will honor my claim. Besides the let down of not getting the great services a new single family homeowner would get, which is an honest mistake, I believe this company is professional and I am looking forward to working with them in the future.

Fantastic. The initial call was informative and never pushy. The contract is clear and easy to read and reference. When we've made claims, service department is polite, helpful and empathetic. As this was a service request for tenant, I was not present when the work was done. But online scheduling was easy and the tenant was happy with the service as it fixed their issue.
