The Handyman Connection rep sent Rob to estimate the job and do the work. Rob is a craftsperson, far better skilled than a tradesperson, he did a phenominal job with each task. He was focused, organized, as tidy as a drywall job can be and absolutely committed to doing a fantastic work. No cut corners, no excuses, no "surprises" (which i expected) that would increase the cost, just 100% professional in every way. Handyman is fortunate to have him and i have more work to do and Handyman will be my first (and only) call and will specifically ask for Rob.
Description of Work: My new home needed some work that included removing a popcorn ceiling in one room, repositioning and hanging a new door the master bedroom closet door and removing three seven foot by 10 foot, quarter-inch thick mirrors from the living room wall, fixing the damage and repainting the wall.

Dave arrived when he said that he would, he did the work that he said he would do in the time period that he said he would. We live in a highrise building so Dave had to coordinate with the building engineer for water shutdown and hallway drop cloths. He had to set-up his tile saw in the back of the building at ground level. A very well done job.

All repairs were done efficiently to my satisfaction. I couldn't find the materials needed for the cabinet repair and he came up with a better idea for the repair and went to the hardware store and got the part. I was very pleased with the results from his idea.

Seann Wilson showed up on time for the estimate. The estimate was in the range we were looking to spend, so we had him do the work. Seann was able to start that day. It took a few days to finish because of my work schedule, but Seann was able work with us on this issue. Seann showed up on time each day and was very professional in his work. The bathroom looks great and we could not be more happy with it. I will use Handyman Connection in the future, and ask for Seann Wilson

Remodeling the entire house. I was able to demolish most of it, but needed help putting it back together, including kitchen, bathroom and living room. Handyman Connection sent Ralph, one of their handymen who came for an estimate. I needed texturing, drywall, cabinets and stove hood installation. Ralph gave me an estimate and a day that he could get the work done. He and his apprentice were punctual, worked hard and efficiently for 2 days sanding walls, leveling cabinets and texturing the walls. During that time, they allowed me to participate and answered many of my other questions about tile and caulking and were friendly throughout.
Description of Work: Handyman connection performed a lot of detail work that I was not able to make look professional. I was remodeling and was able to take the house apart, but needed help putting it back together. The handyman, Ralph, sanded walls, hung cabinets, helped plan the installation of a stove hood, textured the house, and helped finish walls around electrical outlets and windows.

UPDATE - 3/24: HC came out and re-did the corners on all the walls they put up as well as sent out a separate set of individuals to do the texturing on the walls. I'm many orders of magnitude happier with the texturing - very professional now and matches the other walls. Time will tell if the patch they did on the corners will still hold, but we'll see. Until then, my review has been revised from a D to a B for HC doing the necessary work to get it right. Original Review: It started off seemingly well. The contractor showed up and was enthusiastic and very bullish on statements of quality - including that NO dust would get inside of my very sensitive and expensive computer equipment, so that certainly had me believing this would be a success. After the first few days, if I recall correctly, the walls were up and texturing was applied, but the signs were already present that this was not going to go to plan. I very specifically asked if I needed to turn off and remove my computers from the room when work was being performed and stated that they can NOT have dust in them. I was assured that this wouldn't be a problem, only to find that after the walls were up and texturing applied, they were filled with material. While the rooms were partially 'walled off' with film, not only did dust get inside of my hardware, it also permeated all the way through the kitchen and was layered on our countertops and table. I go on quite a bit about the computer hardware because they're liquid cooled computers and dust inside the radiators drastically reduces their cooling efficiency. In fact, after this exercise, one of them is running 2 degrees Celsius hotter than it was before - after being blown off with an air can. Yes, I can give them 'baths' to some extent, but that also means computers down for nearly half a day - not acceptable for what I do. Continuing on...the contractor did not complete the work in time that he estimated, and as such, I had to wait another 2-3 days (I don't recall exactly) for him to come back out and complete the work. Not the end of the world, but having your house in disarray for an extended period of time isn't pleasant. When he 'completed' the work (as in, he was preparing to hand me the bill), I handed him my punch list of items that needed to be resolved. Many of the issues were around flooring, but it felt very silly to even have been in that position. Tiles were not installed squarely, carpeting was not tacked down properly, the door that was installed had a huge gouge in it and there was texturing material stuck on to walls and a huge gouge that was clearly made by a blade. He accepted the list generally pretty well except for the gouge in the carpeting. He stated that the carpeting was coming apart and that's what it was. I've yet to see carpet come apart at a 45 degree angle and perfectly straight edges. He said he had to get one of his own flooring guys to do it because he didn't have the tools, and apparently Handyman Connection doesn't do flooring, per the contractor. The flooring guy came in and repaired the carpeting to the best of his ability. It certainly is orders of magnitude better, but there are still noticeable defects. I can stick my finger down between where the carpet stops and the baseboard and feel the tack strip. He also corrected the tiling issues as well as the door repair, and completed the paint job. Before writing this review I did another walkthrough of the work - about 2-3 weeks after completion at this point - and I noticed that parts of the office are still not tacked down (probably because I didn't explicitly call it out - kind of a shame that I need to babysit like this). Additionally, the joints where the original and new walls meet are cracking. Very visibly so. As a result of the extended time period and the initial review of quality (not to mention damage on the order of $500+ in computer parts), HC provided an additional $200 discount, but after today I'm not convinced this is even sufficient and obviously this doesn't address the recently discovered defects. As it stands, I have parts that I'm having replaced, additional work that needs to be performed and damaged carpet. So it's a bit difficult for me to be remotely thrilled at the work, to say the least. On top of all of this, I was told the materials cost would be $150-200. Which was then upped to $300. Then was $400+ in the end. Pretty irritating. So while the price may have seemed reasonable, the fact that there's probably on the order of $750-$1000+ (parts, carpet tacking and furniture movement to accommodate that, replaced carpet, correction of the root cause of joint cracks, etc...) in corrective measures that still need to take place, it hardly seems like a value.
Description of Work: Handyman Connection was contracted to erect two walls to divide a room and install a door in one of the walls. In addition they were contracted to: Modify flooring to accommodate the changes (e.g. pull up and re-attach carpeting, bring tile in, etc...) Install a single electrical outlet in each room. Paint the new walls.

I am very sorry the member was unhappy with the work. Occasionally, problems occur on a job. As always, Handyman Connection made sure that all of the work was completed to the members satisfaction before payment was received. I was not there and do not know exactly what was discussed between the member and our craftsman. However, when erecting two walls and installing a door, there will be dust. The member states that our craftsman took precautions to tent off the work area, and put plastic as needed to prevent dust. At the end of the project, we reduced the members price because of the inconvenience we caused.

They were very helpful. They needed to come back for a couple of additional repairs on the quality of the work and there was no hesitation from them to do so. They admitted there was a lack of quality at first. They were very friendly and I trusted having them in my home. There were no issues and they were good to work with.

Description of Work: Everything went exaclty as we discussed over phone. Estimate was reasonable. They did very good work and the price was fair. Overall my experience was fair. I would not have this company do this particular type of work again.
Description of Work: The price was very fair and the supplier courteous but quality left much to be desired. I was told that an electrician would be needed to do this particular job. The handyman that came to our house, Seann Wilson, was fantastic. He understood what we needed and performed the work quickly and ensured it was completed and for any 'hiccups' or changes he talked to us and explained what was going on. It was a pleasure to do business with them and we'll definitely use them again.

The repairman arrived without the appropriate ladder height, so we went to Home Depot and purchased the required ladder (we will always need it in the future because we have several too ceilings). Everything after that was great. He worked on the front door resealing while we went to Home Depot. After attempting several different ways to reseal the door (without having to buy a new one because the door is otherwise in perfect shape), he eventually decided to lower the mechanism and tighten the top hinge that was making the door uneven. The door is in great shape now, easier to close and no small opening for bugs to enter. He also hung a picture and hung to rungs to the wall as we asked. We were happy with his service and ability to be creative in determining what would work for our situation.
Description of Work: We had several small things we needed done around the house: light bulb change for 12' ceiling lights, front door reseal, 3 things hung on wall.

$190 for about two hours of labor seem a bit high, but I did not want to take the trouble of finding another company and staying home from work on a second occasion for a minor repair. They offer an appointment window, the handyman calls in to determine the cost of the job and then the customer decides whether or not to proceed with the repairs. They didn't say their rates when I booked the appointment but essentially the cost is approx $100 per hour of labor. The downspout and smoke detectors where installed correctly, however I was very unhappy with the stucco repair related to the downspout. The hole was approx 3/4 to 1 inch diameter in size and the handy man filled it in with a silicone product out of a caulking gun instead of stucco patch. It looked absolutely awful and after 4 days still had not cured. I ended up pulling the silicone out myself since it still had the consistency of toothpaste and patching it with a proper stucco patch product from the home depot. I wish I had just stopped the tech from using the silicone product and asked for a deduction of the price for the stucco repair since I would have to fix it myself anyway. Other than that handyman connection is response over the phone and set up an appointment within a reasonable window. The handyman was both friendly and professional.
Description of Work: One of the down spouts for our gutters had come loose in a storm and was not properly attached to the side of the house. The down spout was reattached with minor stucco repair for the holes. We also had two smoke detectors purchased elsewhere installed. Overall both jobs took just under 2 hours.

I just want to clarify some false statements made by this member in their report. Handyman Connection always charges by the job, not by the hour. We called on Monday, and Dave came promptly Tuesday morning. On the initial walk through of the tasks, Dave realized he would need some additional hardware to properly install the grab bar so he made a trip to Home Depot. Upon his return, he started working on installing the first ramp at the front door. He quickly determined that the style of ramp I had purchased would not allow the screen door to open and close. Instead of scrapping the task and leaving me with the headache of returning the ramp I bought, Dave figured out a way to make it work, even though that meant another trip to Home Depot and grinding off the tip of one of the raised sides to allow the screen to clear. Upon installing the grab bar, Dave was knowledgeable about proper placement of assistive devices. He was also very friendly, even with my dogs, and worked cleanly and efficiently.
Description of Work: We contacted Handyman Connection for some miscellaneous small jobs around the house. I am disabled so I had a couple of ramps I needed to have installed as well as a grab bar in the bathroom. We also had a dog door panel for sliding glass doors to put in.

When I called to request an estimate, I requested a very carelul meticulous painter since I had just had new flooring installed. Shelly, who answered my call, was very friendly and sensitive to my concerns. She assigned Rob Kaufman to provide an estimate for my project. Rob is personable and professional, and provided an estimate that I felt reasonable for the work. He explained his process thoroghly and did most of the painting that Friday. He came back to hang the fan and light fixture and do final touch-up on Saturday. Rob arrived timely for the estimate and on the days he performed the work as well. The painting took less time than originally expecte-d-Rob works very efficiently. He was very careful about masking and covering the floors, cabinets, front door, and fixtures so there were no drips or splatters. He cleaned up the work areas completely after work both days, and was careful when he went in and out as we have a cat that likes to try to escape. The areas he painted look great and my husband and I couldn't be more pleased. Rob ensured that the fan was balanced, and the new fan and light fixture look and work great as well. I have had four different contractors in for various installations/ projects in my condo this year, and Rob hands down ihas been the most pleasant to work with. We will definitely call Handyman Connection and request Rob directly if we need any similar work done in the future.

It took two calls to get someone to come to our home to give us an estimate on installing flooring for 11X13 bedroom. I had 3 different bids and this is the first company I've hired since signing up to Angies List. They showed up on time for the bid and gave me a fair price. I got a call the day before they were coming out that the original guy who was going to do the drywall repair had to have a medical procedure. I needed drywall repaired for an inspection and they made it happen. Michael was extremely professional and did a fantastic job. The original bid was for 5 hours but he actually was there for a total of 8 and I was charged the original bid not more. There was a significant amount of damage in the ceiling and walls and it looks new again. He also painted for me and cleaned everything up. Very happy. Thanks.

When dealing with repairs, it is sometimes difficult to know exactly how long a job may take. Our craftsman do their best to keep the customer informed of any schedule changes. Unfortunately, sometimes they are unavoidable. Our general policy is to recommend replacement rather than repair an old faucet. The labor cost is the same for a replacement as it is for a repair and we can guarantee our workmanship. Our experience is that this is the more cost effective solution in the long run.

Dave was the handyman who was assigned to us to create some built-in shelves. He was punctual, professional and did an awesome job. He was very willing to listen to our needs and he had terrific ideas for the design of the shelves--we were expecting someone that would simply come out, cut some plywood, and install the shelves. We wish we would have done this sooner! We would highly recommend this company--and based on on one time experience--we ask for Dave again if we need this type of work.
