Description of Work: Existing bathtub was removed, tile surround removed, replaced by new tub and surround. It involved new plasterboard and treatment to match existing wall texture. I had the existing double vanity raised 4 inches. Dave had to repair some water damage in the vanity to reinforce it. He also found poured cement under old bathtub that had to be removed with a jack hammer. He added two new light fixtures and fixtures for new tub an double vanity. He was very detail oriented and a good craftsman.

+ 3 moreThe repairman (Jonathan) first called to confirm when he would arrive (he was prompt) and he identified himself when he did arrive. He observed and listened and set to work without delay. He wore protective coverings on his shoes, which was great and overall he was very professional, but he was open and friendly. The finished door looked very good and the repair looked excellent. He returned a couple of weeks later (prearranged date) and did outside work on the stucco of the home; some areas had broken or cracked and needed repair. He repaired those and obtained the exact color match for paint and painted the areas. Again, the repairs look excellent. His work was excellent, he confirmed by phone the day before and showed up on time. He told me exactly what he had done which I appreciated.
Description of Work: Took out a door jamb which was broken, replaced it, and put in new door (interior) and repaired the jamb. Also painted the door and the door frame, adding in a new knob. Also repaired small areas where the stucco on the house had broken, or cracked and then painted the areas to match the existing color.

+ 3 moreI needed a gate repair or refurbishing. I went to Angie's list because after research I didn't think I had the materials and equipment to fix the gate correctly. The company, Handyman Connection, set up time for an estimate. I had an estimate on the gate, bundled together with labor on the two other small jobs...smoke detector and hanging light repair. Date was set for the jobs. The handyman showed up the set day with all materials except the stain. I picked out the stain color. He removed the wood slats and spray painted the border of the gate. The handyman repturned from Home Depot with the stain I had picked out and the socket. While the boards dried, the handyman completed the two smaller jobs. The handyman completed assembling the new boards for the gate. Job was finished and all cleanup done before my bill was presented. Very satisfied with the job.
Description of Work: Estimate on repairing or refurbishing the gate was the primary concern. The man from the company who did the estimate also completed all the work. He bundled two other small jobs with the gate repair including replacing all smoke alarm batteries and replacing the socket in my fixed hanging light over the dining table. He measured for the gate at the time of the estimate. I was so impressed I called and made an appointment right away. The company does not charge anything extra for shopping for materials and shows you the exact receipt...so there is no markup at all for materials. The representative who conducted the estimate and work was professional and punctual and did quality work on the gate. He was able to fix the hanging light by buying a new socket and installing it, something my electrician would not do. All workmanship is guaranteed for a year, all workers have at least ten years of experience and they are licensed and bonded. My handyman had 30 years of experience. I found the company by going to Angie's list...and was really just starting the quote process for my gate. I was impressed with each step and would hire them again.

+ -1 moreMy rental tenants called to say that the handle on the bathtub faucet had broken off and the kitchen faucet was corroded and was coming loose. I had used Handyman Connection in the past at my home. I gave them a call after I'd had another plumber look at it. The other party was someone I had also used before at that location but their estimate seemed high and I wanted a second opinion. Mark called me the night before the appointment to confirm. When I described what was going on as far as I knew, he gave me some insight into what may be involved. He arrived on time and called to give me an update as to what was required. His estimate was better than the other company and seemed less complicated so we went ahead with the repair immediately. He did need to go to Home Depot for parts and had to call me for payment info. This was kind of a nuisance in this case since I was at work, I would rather have had him purchase the materials and add it onto my final bill. Aside from that, the tenants reported that he did a good job and completed all the work as agreed. I would definitely use them again.

Description of Work: After Bob was delayed by a day due to a job running over. He arrived promptly and got to work on the agreed upon job. He redid part of a bathroom including drywall repair, painting, removing an old medcine cabinet, raising up shower head, new fixtures (inc mirror, cabinet, tp holder, hooks, towel bar), change light, change outlet and add bathroom fan. He also redesigned a cabinet to fit a new fridge. Bob was pleasant and easy to have in the house, even my teenagers commented on how nice he was! He was very maticulous. The work was scheduled for 2.5 days and took a full 4 days! That was a bit frustrating as he worked monday, tuesday and wednesday and then could not return until saturday, so we were out our bathroom for nearly a week! But his work was professional and it all looks so nice upon completion.

+ -1 moreHe estimated an entire week was needed to do the work. He came and went throughout the week. Ultimately, I feel like I WAY over paid for his services. The weather stripping is a chopped up and looks awful, and the door knobs that were fixed mostly do not work again. I would not use them again....too pricey for the quality of work. I feel a bit taken advantaged of.
Description of Work: I gave an extensive list to our handyman. Door knobs that needed tightening...or fixing. Door rehung that was hung incorrectly. Making a price to fill in the gap between our tv and the cabinet it sits in. Touch up painting. Toilet repair. Weather striping around the front door and three sets of french doors. There were a few other small things as well.

+ -1 moreJason came out and took a look at the playset we ordered online. It came in several boxes with many pieces of lumber. I had already gone through and organized the lumber according to the labels that were provided. That alone took me 2 hours. Then, I attempted to start building the structure, but quickly realized it was too much for me. He quoted me how much time he thought it would take to put together and we agreed upon a fair price. He then got started right away. He got about half way through and had to come back for a second day of work. He came back on a Saturday and worked for several hours. My kids really wanted to get playing on this! :) He was missing a bit of lumber and came back again another day to finish it up. Overall, I was very impressed with his ability to put this together on his own, and the sturdiness of the finished piece. He also drove stakes into the ground to make sure the playset was secure for the kids to play on. Overall, I am very happy with my experience with Handyman Connection and Jason. I will call them again if we need more work done.

He had the right tools for the job and her knew how to do it so that there would be no ugly edge. He cleaned up the saw dust too! Overall we are very happy with the experience , and we would use them again.
Description of Work: Kitchen cabinetry was cut to hold a slightly larger dishwasher. The work was done beautifully!

I needed a light fixture installed, two new electronic timer switches installed and my front door adjusted as it had worked it's way out of plumb and was hard to lock/unlock. Tom was good-natured in asnwering all the questions I pestered him with and explained clearly all the work. He was also patient with Gracie, my very friendly golden who loves everyone and is always underfoot. The work was done professionally and to my complete satisfaction. I appreciated the ease of getting the work scheduled, and the promptness of the craftsman assigned to the job. It's difficult for me to take time from work and I felt that the Handyman Connection folks respected my time commitment and the care I try to take of my home.

The repair of the cracked walls was very good, but the wall texture but the texture doesn't match so I'll be working on that a bit. We're very pleased over all and he'll be coming out again to do some other repairs.
Description of Work: Replaced broken kitchen faucet. Repaired cracks in walls. Re-grouted the shower. Replaced bathtub drain covers. Repaired water damaged wall next to master shower.

He measured, told me what I needed, gave me a very reasonable labor price, went to Home Depot, called me with the price, bought the door, brought it back. He then took it to his shop to cut (door to be replaced wasn't standard-sized) and prepare for installation. He came back a day later and installed it, replaced existing locks, and even cut a piece from old door so I could take it for a paint match. Job went perfectly. John was punctual, efficient, honest, and did a great job. I would DEFINITELY have him back to do more work. The prices are very reasonable and I greatly appreciated the fact there is no mark-up on materials. He even showed me the receipt. Kudos to this firm for employing such great workers!

It was my fault for not reading through the estimate thoroughly though, so don't hold that against them. When I got an updated price on the painting, it was pretty high so I decided not to use them for the painting part, but they did a great job on the drywall. The contractor working on my house was Shad.
Description of Work: Repaired drywall in 2 rooms - ceilings and walls where water damage had occurred. Scraped and retextured some of it, replaced some of it.

He used tyvek shoe covers, was sure he washed his hands before touching painted surfaces, and the extension ladder he used had rags secured at the top so as not to damage the walls. He finished promptly, and was here and gone in no time.
