my mother-in-law's home is in Kingman, Arizona., I live in Michigan, so trying ti find a good company you can depend on, in my situation, seemed impossible. Then I looked on Angie's list, for a heating & cooling guy, That's how I found "Air Control & Air Conditioning. So I got lucky twice, found Angie's list & now my friends Air Control & Air Conditioning
Kinda sounds like a dumb commercial hu, But it's all true.
"[Member], We strive for 100% customer satisfaction and I am sincerely sorry that you are not happy with the work provided to you. I would, however, like to clarify a few things. We were contracted through Lowe’s for the installation of a new split gas electric system for your manufactured home. This contract, signed by you, specifically states that the new unit would be tied to existing ductwork. This is common practice by any air conditioning company in a retrofit application. During the original onsite estimate there was no need to inspect the duct system further, other than a basic visual inspection from the crawlspace, because you had no noted complaints about airflow from the existing heating system. I will also note that Aero Seal duct sealing was offered during this original estimate and declined. Once the installation was finished and the system tested, you signed a certificate of completion that all work was done to your satisfaction. About six days after installation, you called stating that there was an airflow issue. We sent the original Lead Installer out to inspect this complaint. During his inspection, by using a camera, he found an existing sheet metal supply duct that was partially collapsed. This duct was collapsed from the top down. Meaning that at some point the duct was damaged from the inside of the home and then covered up with new flooring. We explained to you that this was not an issue with the installation but instead an issue with the existing ducting located underneath your manufactured home. However, we completed the repair free of charge, in an effort to try to keep you happy. A short time later, we were contacted by Lowe’s and informed that you were still unhappy. At this time we scheduled another inspection of your home with the President of our company, our Lowe’s representative, and a Lowe’s Manager. This inspection was completed in August. When we arrived at the home, the system was off and the front door was open. We tested the system and found that in summer conditions, with six men inside the home, it was able to maintain 73 degrees. After this inspection Lowe’s found no fault with the installation. Lowe’s then offered to discount your new windows which you accepted. They also offered to help pay to have the Aero Seal completed but you declined. You continued to complain about the airflow and contracted another air conditioning company come out to inspect the ductwork. You contracted them to make modifications to the existing ductwork. This company’s invoice specifically states that the they modified an existing manufacturer duct connection and also noted that it was outside of our installation. The bill for that work was $650.00 which you were reimbursed for by Lowe’s. We were then notified by Lowe’s that you filed a complaint with Registrar of Contractors. An inspection was scheduled and two Air Control reps, three Lowe’s reps, and the Registrar Inspector met at your home. The representative from the Registrar of Contractors found no fault in our work, no fault in our installation, and no fault with Lowe’s. Lowe’s again offered to salvage your satisfaction by helping pay for Aero Seal which we also discounted but you declined for a third time. Again, I apologize that you are unhappy but, ultimately, I don’t know what more we could do. The equipment at your home is operating to specifications and your existing ducting was fixed free of charge. We really do thank you for your business and wish you well."
started searching for a new HVAC company and found Air Control Air
Conditioning, Inc through Angie’s list. The owner Jim Jensen and his son Jamie
came out and really gave us an education on heating and air conditioning. Jamie
did a manual J load calculation and determined we needed to downsize from a 4
ton to a 3 ton unit. I told Jim I was not happy with my current unit blasting
on and freezing me for about 6 minutes and then shutting off with a loud clunk
and then repeating the cycle. The old system was located outside the master
bedroom and was very loud and the return air located in the hallway was very
loud. Also the rooms in the house were all different temperatures and we were
getting a lot of dust in the house. He said that when units are being sized
that many of the salespeople and contractors do the sizing by a certain amount
of square footage requiring a rule of thumb of 1 ton so my house according to
this rule of thumb required a 4 ton unit. Once Jamie completed the J load
calculation they showed us how the 3 ton calculation was obtained. Many factors
are involved in this calculation such as where the house is sitting on the
property (north, south, etc), windows, walls, insulation, doors, etc…Jim explained
the why’s of things I was concerned about and assured my wife and I he could
solve all our concerns. He recommended the AEROSEAL duct sealing which seals
all the ducts from the inside and he recommended three different complete
systems. We chose the Trane Premium XV18i Variable Speed Heat Pump System.
The Trane XV18i was out of stock so they
upgraded us to the XV20i at no additional charge. The new system was installed
Thursday 6/19/2014 by Steve Stauffer, Adam Osgood and James Thomas. My wife and
I could not be happier. This new system is so quiet we cannot tell when it is
running, all rooms feel the same and the dust problem seems solved. Jim &
Jamie did exactly what they said they would do and solved all our concerns. This
was truly a very professional job and we highly recommend this company to
others.
