I called Chapman Services out for service on my unit. The technician told me that the unit needed 5 lbs of freon. That sounded like a lot. I asked if there was a leak. The tech quickly said "no", but he did warn me that the unit might not make it through NEXT summer. The visit cost me $1233. I worked fairly well for about 2 days. When I called them and spoke with the owner Dan Chapman, he told me there has to be a leak, and that his tech wouldn't have said that. I needed a new unit. Mr. Chapman offered to apply half of my wasted $1233 if I bought the new unit with him. Yet, he didn't give me an estimate. I called him once each day, after he failed to meet his own stated timeline for getting the estimate to me. On day 3 of that, he seemed irritated and told me he "gets 100 calls a day...I'll have it to you by the end of the day." Of course, that failed to happen, so I bought a new unit with a different company the next day. It was over 100 degrees most of that week. When I tried to contact Mr. Chapman again about some refund, he ghosted me. I don't know why I used him again, because they did a whole HVAC unit for me at a different location a few years ago, for over $10,000. The unit works fine, but when I noticed damage they did to my wood floors and called about it... no response. They seem pleasant at the beginning. If you use them be warned that if ANYTHING doesn't go perfectly, they will not back their work.

Chapman Services has always been my go to for routine maintenance. I came home on a hot and humid day from work and discovered my system was not cooling. It was after hours and I feared the worst - high fees for emergency call and worse being without air for an extended period of time. Thanks to my service agreement, neither happened. The response was immediate, the issue identified and cool again all in under an hour at an affordable cost. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an HVAC company in the Little Rock area.

This is my reply to this company's response,... First of all, the response from the contractor ARE NOT FACTS but Lies. The Whole emails trying to get ahold of us to do the work, we also have all those emails and the dates we gave him and how emails shows the time delays in responses from Dan. As far as The Quality Control Checklist goes, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Chapman Service was the professional not me, however according to his response and his silly Quality Control Checklist goes I guess (we the customers) need to be MASTER HVAC And Electrical tradesmen to have this company work or install anything! (At the end of the day it the contractors job to due there due diligence and what was contracted but I guess every elderly and mobility impaired people too should climb up in the attic to inspect his Checklist and make sure that's what they contracted and did install.) We are not either but that what he's saying about his checklist. We also have a letter confirming To Whom it may concern Chapman Service inc DIDNOT pull a permit during installation but he DID 7 MONTHS later! I have documentation that proves other wise about (The MINOR) electrical that Champan installed and failed (His WORK FAILED after being inspected) not the existing wiring. However the existing wiring he speaks of I still have the original email from Chapman stating that wire needs to be replace before the system can be installed due to it not being the right size wire for the unit, right there he's tell you he DID NOT replace what he CHARGED me for! Yes he pulled a permit on The Electrical panel he installed not the additional electrical work he preformed on our house. I have a email of the list from the State inspector of his work beening FAILED not just what he's describing the existing electrical wire in the Disconnect, but his work was not I also have an email telling Dan I want documentation of the violations for the inspection and pictures and see he never addressed my request, however Dan states in a further email they have giving documentation and pictures to State Electrical inspector and City inspector. Feel free to contact both inspectors and look at what Dan is telling you did not fail. And the leak on my floor I also have pictures of it leaking originally on 9-25 and pictures of the second leak on 9-26 is why he had to come back out on Sunday again because of it leaking but as he's saying temporary repair also my pictures shows the leak again on his work. The existing NOT PVC but black role pipe (In The Slab) was not leaking it was his work. The whole floor beening repaired issue, I even tried to help this contractor find the floor to do repair from the original installer, everyone even the ones he had came out with told him the floor could not be repaired due to availability of the floor TO MATCH. Dan choose not to except that and told me it was not realistic. He then turned it over to his insurance company because every Contractor called said the exact thing about floor being repaired. On 9-25 I verbally told Dan about the buckled floor DAN himself told me to call my homeowners insurance I replied I'm not paying my deductible for something you installed that ruined my floor. Also in my emails to Dan I told him from this point forward everything needs to be emailed since his word doesn't mean anything, Feal free to contact me for those emails from day 1 of indication of contact through email to the last day of his finale inspection. Which it took him several more then twice for them to come inspect everything and FINALLY pass it. He obviously does not know his trade if he calls in for reinspector and it takes 3 more reinspections to pass what was on the list from the very first violation report. As far as heat not working I know the truth heat ran for over 20 minutes but never heated the home, SO, why would the HVAC inspector tell him to (Check it out if It DID in fact work?) also have a letter showing this. This Contractor is a pathological lier but I guess when you take advantage of people the ways all the negative reviews show about this Contractor They have to Lie to sleep at night. All my words are FACTS and are in all my emails to and from Dan. Please feel free to send me a email and I'll send you all emails and letters from inspectors showing Dan is lying about his above statements. And look how Dan is talking about US THE CUSTOMER. Is that someone you want to work for you?!?! That does not appreciate the customer?!?? They say people like this will always get what they deserve in the end.
Description of Work: Installed a new whole home heat air system, electrical panel outside, and additional electrical work. Which the only one that got inspected was the outdoor panel. This contractor failed to pull permit on heat and air system and additional electrical work. Has several code violations from heat and air and electrical inspectors Installed new in April of 2015 and the heat don't even work with temperatures dropping daily and I got two kids one is 3 years old and the other is 1 years old. And the only way to keep them warm is to use a electric heater Some of the electrical work posses as a fire hazard to my home and family from what we was told by inspectors. Charged us for certain work that was never completed Didn't install a new condensation drain to our new whole home unit Used old breakers in new electrical panel even, and didn't level the unit outside. It took 1 month and 2 weeks for chapman to come out and put 2 shims on each side in the front. The unit doesn't seem very stable sitting on shims and not on the ac pad. It then still took 2 more weeks for Chapman service to come out and put 2 more shims on it to attempt to get it leve which it's still not perfectly level for 15,000 worth of service. If Chapman Service does not resolve our current issues as stated on our paper work making it right we would want Chapman to remove our Trane system and give us our money back meeting the 100% sastifactory guarantee. Chapman services has demonstrated poor workmanship, unprofessionalism, bad business, on top of poor customer service. Dan Chapman of Chapman service inc. took it upon hisself to remove my 3 breaker sub panel box located at my heat pump so he did not have to install the correct wire as per State Electrical inspector, I the customer verbally ask State inspector who came out to reinspect Dan CHapmans work again and failed him for not installing the right wire in a wet location twice, verbally asked State inspector if the was anything wrong with that box as far as code goes and he stated NO Dan chapman just didn't want to install proper wire so Dan asked inspector if he could remove it to run a smaller wire and inspector was OK with that. However no once did Dan Chapman as me if he could remove sub panel. Dan chapman just took it upon hisself to do so then simply lied to me on phone when I told him the issue about the box being ok. Dan Chapman asked me if I was a electrician cause I don't know what I was talking about but the inspector says otherwise. Dan tried to blame removing the box on State inspector. I'm in the process of receiving a email from him about the sub panel breaker box. Dan Chapman sent his guys out for the last time hopefully today on 12/4/15 to fix the wrong wire in a wet location they fix the side with the heat pump then said they were done. I immediately called State inspector and told him they did not fix both sides. State inspector called Dan Chaoman he had to come back out AGAIN to finish what he was told to do. Dan chapman CHARGED me for a 60 amp circuit but he ran a 40 amp circuit and I asked the price difference Dan Chapman Stated there was not a difference however my additional work invoice proves differently.

Here are the facts: 1. We installed the homeowners TRANE System 4/6/15. 2. We installed the homeowners Electrical Meter and pa 4/14/15. We use a Quality Control Checklist when we install all of our TRANE heating/ air conditioning systems to ensure we have not forgotten anything and also we go over that list with the customer so they know exactly what was done. The homeowner is then asked to sign off on the Quality Control Checklist if everything meets their approval. The homeowners signed off and gave us a 100% satisfaction rating. Five months later we received a call from the homeowners that they had a little water on the floor and they thought it was coming from the indoor unit. Our tech went out that night, (Saturday night), found that the existing PVC that was in concrete had cracked and was leaking condensation water. My tech made a temporary repair, returned the next day (Sunday) to complete the work. No more leak. I received a call a couple of days later from the homeowners stating the water had buckled a few pieces of laminate flooring and they wanted it repaired. I went out along with five other floor contractors to see about repairing the floor. The homeowners said a repair was out of the question. The homeowners wanted a new floor put down which would have entailed the hallway, bathroom, dining room and kitchen, and nothing else would be acceptable. At that time, I turned their claim over to my insurance company. Because I did that, the homeowners are required to pay their homeowners deductible before anything would be done. This made them mad. The homeowners called the city and state electrical & HVAC inspectors out. Yes, we then pulled a HVAC permit and everything passed. We did pull an electrical permit the day we did the work and it was inspected and passed by the city inspector. What did not pass was the existing electrical that was originally run to a disconnect for the heat pump (that someone else installed years ago). The City Inspector never said anything about it. However, since we were the last electricians on site to perform work, the state inspector wanted us to update it. No problem, we did it. As far as the heat not working, again we showed the homeowner how to operate his new system and left manuals. It is a very hi-tech system and thermostat. Inspectors are not required to know how every system works. They inspect systems to make sure they are installed correctly. Which it was. We sent our tech out, the system worked perfectly and we showed the homeowner again how to use his system. They say the squeaky wheel get’s the oil. This was certainly the case here. When some demonstrates this amount of evil, trying to get something for nothing, I really have to wonder when happiness and a sense of moral conciousness exited and left that empty black hole in their lives. We have corrected the few minor notes the electrical inspector left and we look forward to another great year in 2016. “Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!”

The wrong wire, of two existing, caused the emergency heat strips to trip the breaker. Mr Chapman demanded more money to come back and switch to the existing, correct wire. Had I not had a house sitter during that cold December in 2012, serious problems would have occurred.
Description of Work: The written agreement included "all wiring necessary" to install the complete system.

This ensures we did our job and the customer is happy at the end of the installation as well. When [Member Name Removed] brought his concerns in front of the HVAC Licensing Board, we were able show exactley what equipment was and was not installed, and our signed Quality Control Check List. Unfortunetly for [Member Name Removed] when someone misrepresents the facts and try to get something for nothing, they are exposed and is a little embarising for them. [Member Name Removed] never persued this any further.

Installed a non-variable speed indoor unit. Connected heat strips with wiring too small to meet code (even with sufficient wiring readily available) causing several problems that were refused to be addressed without additional payment. Falsified documents which were never given to me. Gave false testimony to the Heat A/C licensing board contradicting all issues (wrong venue choice on my part). I have never been treated more dishonestly, or with more glee from a contractor in my life and therefore plan on taking the issue to small claims court.
Description of Work: Promised to provide all wiring and labor to install a Heat Pump w/emergency electric heat strips and variable speed indoor fan unit.

Customer was upset do to a friend of his trying to do some electrical and causing a issue and then wanting our company to come out and fix it for free. We did not install any heat strips nor did we replace his old thermostat because Mr. [Member Name Removed] did not see the need to change it out. A friend that knew HVAC & electrical came over to change out the thermostat and ended up shorting out the system. Whe we install a system, we use a Quality Control Check List which is a iitimized list of everything preformed on the job. We go over that list with the customer, make sure they are happy with all the work preformed and then have them sign it. This ensures we did our job and the customer is happy at the end of the installation as well. They were very professional and very informative about the services that they offered. I didn’t have any problems with them at all. They were great. They told me over the phone that they charge a $35 diagnostic fee plus, if I decide for them to do the work, $80 per hour. The technician found that a fuse was blown. I had a new fuse sitting in the fuse box since I had replaced these fuses before. Rather than asking me if I wanted them to do the work before doing it, he just proceeded to put the new fuse in and the system worked. I didn't mind paying the diagnostic fee but then he charged me $80 for one hour of work when the whole procedure took him less than 2 minutes to change the fuse without even asking me after diagnosing the problem if I wanted them to do the work. When I called the company and spoke to the owner, I told him that the technician didn't even ask me if I wanted them to do the work, the owner said "You wanted the unit fixed, didn't you?". I have changed fuses many times before and would never had paid someone to do something I could easily do if asked if I wanted it done. $80 to change a fuse when I even had a new one inside the fuse box was somewhat excessive. I'd never use these people again. I feel ripped off. I don't mind spending money but charging me $80 without even asking me, especially after charging me a $35 diagnostic fee, was quite unreasonable and excessive.

Unfortunetly, some times when a customer calls a service company out because they don't know what is wrong with their system and out tech. finds the problem in a fairly shor time, (because they are trained in this area of work), a customer feels like theydid not get their moneys worth. When you go to your Dr. Office and he see you for a total of 10 min., do we go to him and say "you only saw me for 10 min, I don't think you should charge me the full amount". No, we don't. We are on a flat rate. Wether the job takes 10 min or two hours, the price is the same. If Mr. [Member Name Removed] had replaced fuses before why didn't he do this before calling us out. We might make the repair look easy but, that comes with experiance. The unit is now working.
