The contract was signed in September 3, 2004 along with a 50% down payment to have our kitchen counters redone in granite. On January 11, 2005, we contacted the company because they had not even shown up to make a template of the counter tops. Initially they told us that the job would be completed by Thanksgiving, then Christmas, the week between Christmas and New Year, then finally the week after New Year. We contacted them again on February 9, 2005. We called and left messages that were not returned. When we did talk to Kal, he would tell us he would be here soon but he didn't show up, with no phone call, or he would show up much later, sometimes after 5:00 p.m., an inconvenience to us. On April 13, 2005, Kal told us at 10:30 p.m. that he would call us the next day at 10:00 a.m. which did not happen. He was to have completed the installation and cleanup by the end of Friday, April 15, 2005 which did not happen. On April 18, 2005, we contacted Kal again and informed him that if the job was not completed by Friday, April 22, 2005, we would let our attorney settle it. We continually got the run around from him. We usually called him. One time we talked to him at 8:15 a.m. and he said he would be here at 10:30-11:00 a.m. He didn't show up until around 4:10 p.m. Then he said he would be here on a Sunday (inconvenient to us but we wanted to get the job finished) with a helper by 10:00 a.m. -- no show and didn't call. The next Monday we called Kal at 9:15 a.m. and he said he would be here within 45-50 minutes -- arrived at 12:40 p.m. and left at 8:30 p.m. (inconvenience to us again). Didn't show up again until the next Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 5:20 p.m. It took 3 people 3 days to clean the inside of our house due to the mess they had made. Finally got the job completed in June 2005. This was suppose to be a turnkey operation. Kal sent guys up here to rip up the floor and the counter tops but did not supervise them. They did not cover anything. When the job was finally completed, Kal had to hire people to come clean my house and then I still had to clean it. We had to provide the plumber, electrician, painters, someone to install and paint the base boards. I always thought in a turnkey operation, the contractor provided all the services and persons to perform the services. We even had to go to Memphis to a granite place because Kal said he couldn't get the granite when all along our granite was there with Kal's name on it. We had to provide supplies to clean our silk plants, the paint and materials. Bottom line: we were the subcontractor and Kal thru Marbella did not have the personnel to perform as he had promised. We actually recommended Kal of Marbella to neighbors who had a very similar experience. In short, Kal should be working for another company as an installer and not attempt to run his own business. Good luck if you use him.
