I don't use subcontractors. I work for my customers by myself. I started painting with my father when I was 10 years old and have always painted mostly interior homes. I painted when I was in the Army in maryland part time and in Texas, Michigan, California and Arkansas full time with my Dad who taught me to be quick and efficient and fair. I let the customers pick out the paint however I will give my input if asked as far as colors. I worked at Lowes mixing paint for 2 years in the paint dept. All together I have @ 15 years experience painting from Michigan, Maryland, to Arkansas and Texas. I don't mark materials up I price a job according to the time it will take me. I am not the cheapest and not the most expensive but I am good, detailed and do the clean up so it looks better than it did when I arrived. If I have to drive to pick up materials I only charge a $10 service trip charge for gas and time to get materials and stand in line, I believe that is fair. Sometimes it takes a while to get to the front of the line and get the paint mixed and then I check the color to make sure it is what the customer wanted. I do 90% brush and roll. I also have 14 years experience in the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) trade and have my Universal certification card from the E.P.A. I am a firm believer in preventative Maintenance (PM). Filters need to be changed, sometimes two filters! One in the grill in the wall and the other one at the blower unit in the house. Evaporator coils need cleaning and sometimes de-icing, drains need flushing and of course the Condenser coil needs cleaning as well. It's all hard sweaty work but I enjoy it because I have done it so many times it just seems second nature. Belts need to be changed as well if the indoor fan motor (IFM) is belt driven, if not often there is a minor movement of the wire harness on the (IFM) that can be adjusted to allow more airflow if needed, depending on a couple things. You don't always need a new system just a good cleaning , maybe some adjustments and regular (PM). I went to school in California for (1) year to learn HVAC and I know it well. I am always fair and give discounts to seniors. Heat Pumps (HP's) run year round remember. So unless you have gas heating, your unit is running all year unless you turn it off. Thermostats can be changed out to newer models and programmed to save you money when you are away all day or for several days.
