A very thorough and professional job. Even checked other windows. This would have cost some $500 at the local dealer. Also Madison Automotive requested a one week "bring back" to confirm service. Excellent. Note I now have my children going to Madison for service and they are also satisfied.

I had just made a long 700 mile trip to visit my sister. I noticed that my car started shaking at about 55 -65 mph. I had 4 new tires that had less than 4000 miles on them. I thought I might have lost one of the tire weights. My sister called her mechanic who they have used for years (Steve at Madison Automotive) and he said he'd be glad to take a look at it when I got in. I took the car to him( at 3pm), he checked the balance (they were out of balance) and rotated them since I almost had 5000 miles on them. He took the car for a drive and that did not correct the problem. They noticed my check engine light was on (which I believed to be from the catalytic converter) and ran a diagnostic (which he did not charge me for) and coded out many misfires. They put the car in the dark and noticed sparks from worn wires. He called and said he thought it might be the right front axle, but there was no way to know for sure without replacing it. there was the possibility that it could be the left, but in his experience, it usually was the right. He had even called a co-mechanic he knew, that said if he put the car up on the rack, removed the tires and spun the wheel, he may be able to see if the right or left wobbled. He was unable to tell with that. He also said that I really needed a tuneup. I have had the car for 8 years and it has never had the plugs and wires replaced. He really struck me as a concerned and extremely thorough mechanic that was more interested in the safety of my car than adding more and more to my bill. My sister highly recommended him, so I said ok. And.....he was right on it with his experience....it was the right axle. He had to order the axle that afternoon, he started on it the next day and had it for me that afternoon. Take into account, he a lot full of cars to work on. The work was excellent, I put another 800 miles on my car heading home, and if it wasn't so far to go and see him. I'd let him do all of my work. I could not have been more pleased with his work. It was an excellent experience when finding yourself out of town and needing to trust someone with your only means of transportation.

I took this car in because it needed several things done. They completed the service and I got the car back. I then sold the car to a co-worker of mine. Two weeks later the co-worker tells me the car has stopped running completely and the garage they took it to says it needs a new engine. This co-worker happens to work on cars so took it to another shop and they confirmed what he thought - that several bolts on various engine parts were either loose or missing. They tightened everything up and replaced the missing ones and now it's running just fine. The problem here is that this is the second car I've taken here in about a 3 month period where the engine stopped running. Both after work dealing with the engine/water pump were involved. What are the odds that two cars worked on by the same shop both had the engines die? I wish I'd gotten a second opinion on the first car instead of just declaring it dead. So the 'C' is for the benefit of the doubt, but I also know when we took the first car in one of the workmen there was telling us how he'd just bought a Honda Accord at a great price because the owner didn't want to pay to have the engine overhauled. I can't chance this happening again so I won't be returning to this shop.

Madison Automotive is pretty good. Their price is reasonable. They were good in mechanics.

Took my car in bacuase of noise and was told it was my transmission. I have an extended warranty with GMAC and they wanted you to jump thru hoops in order for them to pay. Steve was very good and took time out of his day (several times I might add) to go back and forth with the warranty company to get them to pay. This went on for 2 weeks and finally agreed to pay. He was so helpful and honest. I am a single woman and didn't know who to trust. He is very trustworthy and will use him anytime I have a problem with my vehicle.

I have used Madison Automotive for all my service needs on my vehicle and my sons for approx 3-1/2 years. I drive from Fayetteville, TN to their shop for my automotive needs and has been worth the drive for the service I've received. Steve and his staff have always been courteous, informative, and efficient in their business dealings with me and my family. Costs are reasonable and comparable to my needs. Steve has always called me explaining in detail what repairs are needed, what he recommends and the costs of repairs. I recommend Madison Automotive to all my friends and family.

We went to Madison Automotive because of the good reviews on this site. We dropped the car off Monday morning at 9am and he said there were two cars ahead of us and they'll get to it shortly. 6 hours later, we stopped by to see how it was going because we hadn't heard from them and they said they didn't get to it yet. At about 4PM, they called to tell me what was wrong and what the price would be. We told them to do it, and he said they would get started right away. A couple hours later they were closed. They never told us they would keep the car overnight, and it took them all day to get to it when they said it wouldn't be long when we dropped it off. We had to arrange travel to work the next day and then back to the mechanic before they closed so we could pick it up. They also never called to say it was done. That being said, they were very nice, and responsive and answered any questions we had. It's only been a day, but so far it seems like the work was done well. I would go back if I had to because the location is convenient and the men were nice, and I like supporting family owned local businesses, but I wasn't too impressed, mainly because of the two day brake job.

They are very professional and kow what they are doing. The best word that I can use to describe them is HONEST.

Good service. It was expensive, but it was a major repair. They were able to diagnose a very complicated problem.

Quick, responsive, get it done approach, not the cheapest though

I went by Madison Automotive in another car to get a ballpark estimate on replacing the head gaskets knowing that it could be a cracked head or worse. The guy behind the counter took the time to discuss it with me and then recommended NOT to do the work because it was an older car and there could be other problems with it. A fly-by-night repair shop could have lowballed an estimate and then stuck it to me after disassembly. Not these guys. I appreciate theri honesty and wholeheartedly recommend them.

The business reported back that the brakes DID not need service, that there was a lot of "pad" life remaining and that the rotors were in good shape. I did and still do hear some "squealing", but Steve assured me that it isn't that uncommon with my type vechicle and brakes. I appreciate that they didn't replace items that they didn't judge needed replacement. The front-end alignment seems correct -- steering no longer "pulls" to one side as before. This was my first visit there and I will return again.

They seemed to be really professional and did a good job. They seemed to know what they were doing.

Performed the service exactly as indicated and followed up with phone call concerning condition of rotors which I suspected would need to be replaced. Vehicle was dropped off in the morning and ready in the afternoon.

We use them all the time. They are usually real responsive and they get the work done in a timely manner. They put in the water pump and they have also done some other major work right before that. Since the water pump didn’t get any of the actual treatment and some other things as well when they took the engine apart, they really gave us a really good deal of the replacement because they had just done work and they hated that, that wasn’t part of it when they tore everything apart. I think they took the price into consideration. They also will give you years of warranty on some other work. That’s always nice to have just in case. They consider us as one of the VIP’s because we go there so often. They’ve built good relationships with us. Their price was reasonable. They will redo anything that might go wrong. So they’re really good about any rework. They are very good with responsiveness. We’ve gone and left our car there on the weekend and they would work on it, and Monday morning they would get back with us. If they have to order a part, they tell you how many days it’s going to take and how long it will take to fix the car. So they’ve always been good about their time. We really like working with them and we really trust them with our cars. We will use their services again in the future.

They charged us last time only for the parts and not for the service. They were able to squeeze us in during Christmas. They were working only for few hours and they were able to do a quick check on the car. They told my husband what was the part that they needed to put be on the car. Since my husband is mechanically inclined he just bought that part and did the job on his own. They also did some work on my mom?s car. It was an intermittent problem, and I never thought that they would be able to figure that out.
