It was the most horrific nightmare I've ever had to endure, no lie. My daughter called to set this up for me, and she spoke to a man named Clifton in their call center on Friday 9/30. She told him at that time that the movers would need to bring boxes to help finish packing the remainder of items (books) and to bring mattress bags for my bedroom mattresses, they are very heavy and expensive and I didn't want them damaged or dusty. She was quoted a price at that time of $125/hour for 3 guys and a truck. She told Clifton that there were about 2 bedrooms of furniture that would need to be moved and several other pieces of furniture in the living room and den, lots of boxes, etc. She also told them that I have expensive and very heavy bedroom furniture that has to be disassembled and reassembled to be moved, he said no problem to all of that and that the movers were courteous, helpful, and would treat my belongings like they would their own. He also said they were extra careful not to damage anything and nothing I needed would be a problem. My daughter called later that day to confirm everything with someone in the actual office (not call center and we were good to go.
The movers called to confirm everything on Monday and were set to be at my old house at 8am 10/4/11. They showed up on time, but didn't have any of the boxes, mattress bags, etc. with them that I requested them to bring. They also said they thought they would need additional help and a truck just for the stuff going to my storage unit. They didn't come back to my house to get started until 11:30. It took them 3 hours to get that done, so that delayed the entire move because they weren't prepared to begin with. They were anything but professional and courteous, which is what I was told they would be. They broke a knob off of my staircase, and damaged my lovely bedroom furniture because it was packed upside down in their truck. It took them until after 10pm that night to get my furniture and stuff unloaded at my new house, just 20 (or less, I'm estimating) miles away, which is absurd in and of itself. Not only that, but when the final bill came (before they would unload it), it was over $2,100. I was absolutely livid, I spoke to the manger himself, Ben, and told him I was quoted $125/hour and he denied all of it. He then proceeded to get into a shouting match with me saying he would hold my stuff, take it with him and store it, dump it in my front yard, you name it, he threatened it until it was paid. Not only that, but the stuff going to storage never made it, it still hasn't made it as I type this, it is in their truck somewhere. They had to take the loaded truck back to their warehouse and leave it overnight because it didn't make it to the storage unit before 4pm, even though when I (and my daughter) spoke with Ben, he said that woudn't be a problem.
He refused to take anything off the bill, I guess it was my fault that they piddled around for 3 hours yesterday, broke the knob on my staircase, damaged my furniture, you name it, they did it. And they couldn't have been more unprofessional and to scream at a customer and try to charge them $2,100 is unreal. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. The managment (if you call them that)- Ben and Jason, were 2 of the worst indivuals I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Do yourself a favor and use Two Men and a Truck- do NOT ever use this crappy company. They ripped me off, and I'm contacting my attorney today to see what my legal options are against them, I won't be treated like this or taken advantage of!
