The whole process was professional. From the initial call to completion of the project they were clear on what needed to be done and followed through with what they said they would do. They even worked on one small area that they weren't required too. Although no mold was present in the area there had been a little water damage there so they cleaned and sealed it to make sure. Their pricing was in the middle of the estimates I received but I decided to go with them after reading some reviews as well as the professional attitude they exhibited toward the estimate.

They came promptly and inspected some window damage with mold. they tested the air and surface. They sent the samples away for testing and provided an extensive report. It was worth the money for the peace of mind.

James was prompt for both the estimate appointment and the mailed estimate. Misdiagnosed the problem as water damage behind the drywall rather than due to condensation.

The remediation was done satisfactorily, but one of the workers caused a crack in the ceiling in the living room and failed to mention it before they left. When I noticed it and called the office, they were very responsive and sent someone out to repair the crack the next day.

Description of Work: When I called the office the gentleman was very helpful. He scheduled me for the same day. The representitive came out...he was dropping his tools & forgot his ladder so was trying to look at the mold from a folding chair. He also forgot some of his equipment in my basement when he left. At least he remembered before he pulled out of the driveway. I had to remind him to take the check wish they had taken more than 1 sample due to various mold found throughout the basement.did get the results back quickly. The representative apparently was a heavy smoker and caused my allergies to flare-up. Because of the smell on his clothes. I also feel they should have tested for moisture level/reading to better figure out why all the mold.

The estimate was good but the work is just beginning.
Description of Work: I got two estimates and then an insurance adjuster walked through. After seeing both estimates and comparing it to the actual damage, he said American Air is right on with the estimate. I will be doing some of the work myself but if I get stuck, I will more than likely call for their help. Incidently, the second estimate I got was, according to my Ins. Adjuster, totally out of line. His comments was run as fast as you can from the other company. Just sayin' So, American Air, If I get in over my head, I'll be giving you a call!

Called 3 different companies for an estimate & they were in the middle price wise. They showed up on time the person in charge informed my wife as to what they were going to do & was thorough in his explanation as to what they were going to do & how long it was going to take. He then came back when I got home from work and showed me what he had done & answered questions that I had.

1.5 months after we moved into our new home we noticed a leaking window that had substantial mold growth throughout he entire wall from years of water getting behind the siding. With in days of finding the window mold, we found a leaking tub drain that allowed mold to grow on a 10'x16' section of our basement wall. As an engineer I didn't think it would be difficult to remediate myself. I did my research, built a containment area (even used a HEPA air purifier), purchased the proper respirator, gloves etc and began. About half way through I began feeling nauseous and had enough. I called AAIR and Bob was out to do a free estimate within 48 hours. He was EXTREMELY thorough in his inspection, crawling through tight area's that I wouldn't want to stick my hand through. I received the quote within 48 hours. They're estimate was very competitive compare to the 2 other companies who provided estimates and Bob was much more thorough in his inspection. AAIR's crew of 3 showed up on time and got to work immediately. They set up the proper containment in both area's and completed the work the same day. All 3 were friendly, paid attention to detail, respectful and thorough. After they completed and cleaned up, they took me through and explained what they did and why it was done. Hopefully I won't have any future mold issues but if I do, Bob and AAIR will be the only company I call.

We were quite pleased with the work that AIR performed for us.The initial assessment was conducted quite professionally with Jason pointing out several areas that had not been anticipated. He was right on.the scheduler was very helpful when we needed to change dates. The remediation crew was neat, clean, and workmanlike, going above and beyond the quoted work.the crew chief, Jeff, was especially impressive,, displaying a broad range of remediation techniques. The work ethic of the entire team was. Impressive. We would definitely use their services in the future.

It was a horrible experience to which I am out $4408.00 plus furniture and belongings I threw away because I believed it was contaminated with spores. I had several emergency room visit bills because of breathing issues. Half of my fish are dead and the air quality of my home is unacceptable to me.While this company has a 15 year warranty, I do not trust them as they do not seem to utilize cautious measures for mold removal or their clients health nor do they follow the guidelines of the National Association of Mold Professionals they promote on their website. Update 7-6-2012 In response to Mr. Richards post: 1. I did 'ask' his 17 year old crew member for the paint brush because he had no idea how to use it and I showed him how since the other crew member was not going to. Also 'I' supplied the brush because they had none. My time is valuable too. 2. I have had another mold expert examine and run tests in my home and no other mold can be located. Therefore I must conclude that spores kept repopulating. 3. Mr. Richards did not share with me that he ran air quality tests in my home until our conversation at the end of June. His tests do not indicate any values for Aspergillus/Penicillum or Stachbotrys, however my tests show highly increased levels. 4. Part of the service I paid for listed that numerous boxes and items would be disinfected and removed from the basement into my garage however 'I' had done this before his crew came over. I was still charged for this service. 5. Bob states that clients are not allowed in the home while cleaning is being performed. I was in and out numerous times to check their work and offer them beverages and to remind them to clean the back hallway which they did not do. 6. I have NEVER called Mr. Richards a liar as he claims, but rather have pointed out discrepancies in what he claims is or is not done against what actually occured at my home during the cleaning process. 7. I initially gave his company A rating for promptness because the staff were on time and they did work hard. But they did also make comments to the effect that 'you have so much stuff' while cleaning which I disregarded. 8. I asked Mr. Richards why my basement is now yellow when the paint was white. He has no idea. In summary, it was extremely difficult to have a conversation with Mr. Richards because he was very defensive and all he cares about is his 'reputation' and that I called him a liar. As a result, Mr. Richards refuses to honor the 15 year warranty, nor will he refund me any of my money even though I had offered a partial settlement. He replied that would rather spend another $2000.00 to go to court. I never implied legal action, but that was the threat Mr. Richards made to me. He DID NOT make any attempt to resolve this issue, period. I am out $4880.00 and loss of furnishings and clothing and my fish. UPDATE: 7-16-12 While starting to reorganize my basement items, I discovered the cause of the continuing mold spores. I had taken pictures of my basement on 3/25/12 prior to the cleaning. There were numerous shelving units that have particle boards. The crew placed items on these shelves while they cleaned my basement and while doing so broke one of my aquariums BUT more importantly, they did NOT clean these shelves before putting items on them. I have pictures to prove this. While Mr. Richards may be an honest person, perhaps some members of his crew have other intentions. Final Note: 12-3-2012 Bottom line is that HIS crew FAILED to clean the BOTTOMS of the shelving units which continued to recontaminate my entire house via his powerful filters. And YOU Mr. Richards would not even return to my home to view all of the contaminated boards after you read my review AND seen all of the photo's of the boards covered in mold. You made NO attempt to resolve this other than state you'd prefer to go to court, Your stubborn PRIDE cost me thousands of dollars from INADEQUATE mold remediation, furniture loss, all of my fish which I treasured are gone, hotel bills, clothing expenses, personal effects and on and on. My life has been devasted due to your crew's carelessness and you have no idea the harm caused to me. You only care about YOUR REPUTATION. From the bottom of my heart, GOD BLESS you Mr. Richards and the crew who cleaned my house. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" Galatians 6:7
Description of Work: I hired American Air to remove mold from my basement and my entire home. I trusted Bob when he said that he had 25 years experience. Although the mold (aspergillus/penicillium and stachybotrys) levels were at a 'normal' range according to the Air Quality Company I hired, they were unacceptable for me because I have mold allergies and asthma and autoimmune disease. I informed Bob and his crew prior to the job about my health issues and my concern for my aquarium fish. I was assured that everything was low grade chemical and natural and no harm would come to me or my fish. Apparently they do not understand about asthma because my house is now worse than before they started their process of mold removal and half of my fish are dead. I have moved my fish to a relatives house because the air quality continually contaminated my tank. I found out after the fact that mold should be removed by isolating each room with plastic containment and continual Hepa vacuming and cleaning over a few days because dead mold releases toxins according to the EPA and New York Mold Remediation guidelines. American Air workers did not use plastic to contain the mold in each room, but rather they walked from room to room cleaning but spreading the mold spores. The basement was completed in one day with cleaning and sealing the mold however they have to return for touch ups and to paint 2 vertical posts not done. They used an air sprayer to apply the sealant, something that should never have been used when an asthmatic resides in the home. They did not inform me that spores could recontaminate my home. When I stayed home from work that same week to reorganize my home, I became very ill from the mold spores being released from my clothing and closets and furniture as I moved things around. Granted American Air did come back and try to fix the air quality by putting in negative air filters. This however proved to make matters worse because the recent retesting of mold in my home indicates the levels are higher than before they did the work. While I understand there may be mold elsewhere in my home that I am not aware of, the fact remains that American Air did not use caution when cleaning my home nor did they inform me of the spores recontaminating my home. Now I am left to have my home recleaned. Insurance does not cover mold removal. On May 17, 2012 I sent American Air a certified letter requesting a refund. On May 29, 2012 I contacted Bob and asked if he recieved the letter to which he replied yes and that a response was forthcoming by early the following week. I left another voice message on June 11, 2012 as I have still not heard from Bob regarding my refund. If you are going to require mold removal from your home, check the EPA for guidlines prior to hiring a company.

Response from American Air Improvement Resources Inc
We were hired to clean and disinfect the hard surfaces and hepa vac the upper floors of this clients home understanding that it was an attempt to make her home more comfortable for her to live in without throwing everything out and gutting the interior of home to locate hidden mold that she believes exist in the home, so we remediated the visible mold in the basement and cleaned and disinfected the hard surfaces throughout the upper floors and hepa vacing all surfaces with her agreeing that further steps may need to be taken such as carpet removed and porous materials like beds, clothing, furniture etc. that could not be disinfected, she agreed to this approach, after finishing she called back a few days later and said she still had a problem with breathing in her home, we responded by installing negative air machines to clean the air and ventilate her home and then discussed and proposed to go to the next steps we had discussed prior to starting the whole process, during this time i responded to several phone calls offered to relocate her fish because she could not enter the home, took her suits on another occasion so she could go into her home, we responded promptly to all of her request but she requested we remove our equipment so we did, a few days went by and she requested we come back and treat vertical columns in her basement that had no visible mold growth and that was not in the original scope of work and when we explained that there was no mold growth on the columns she grabbed the brush out of an employee’s hand and proceeded to apply treatment to the vertical columns and proceeded to verbally insult them and our company. A few weeks later we received a certified letter with her requesting over five thousand dollars for fish, furniture and refund for remediation which we refused because we completed the services that we were contracted to do and even gave her a copy of the final air clearances ran after our remediation showing levels of mold in the home lower than the exterior of the home which is as good as it gets and better. As for not using plastic on walls as she claims we were hired to clean those very walls which would be difficult to do covered in plastic, when you hepa vac and disinfect by spraying and wiping surfaces throughout an entire home you isolate the ventilation, install negative air cleaning machines to get air flow throughout the home or contained area and then you start the cleaning process, she has read somewhere that you have to isolate room by room which is the process if you are removing mold affected materials and you need to isolate the rest of the home form that work area, in this case we were hired to clean and disinfect all hard surfaces and hepa vac the hard and non-hard surfaces throughout home, again cannot do under plastic. As for her stating that she had air test done after we left, she has never produced those to me and was in shock when i forwarded her our post remediation results and dropped the subject after i reminded her and to her own admittance that she still has a mold problem and that we were going to handle it in stages to which she chose to stop, not us. As for her fish i met with her and expressed concern for the fish because she wouldn’t enter the home, this was several days after our process and at that time there was no dead fish, i even made arrangements to move her fish because she was worried about them and i was declined. As for the process for applying the protective coating, which she refers to as sealer is to spray apply the coating, we did this under negative air pressure and the air in the basement is exchanged with the outside air several times an hour, and the owner or occupants are not allowed in the house until process has been completed. We have tried to remedy this with the home owner and she has insulted our employees has called me a liar, stated that we did not use care remediating her home which was clearly done by reviewing the post remediation results, tried to assist with her fish issues only to be denied, spent several times back at her house and on the phone, did additional work and not charging her for it and after all that she still sends a letter requesting over five thousand dollars in a refund. She states that she doesn’t trust our company but gives us an A rating for professionalism, she states that i don’t don’t respond to her but gives us an A rating for punctuality and responsiveness. I deal with hundreds of customers a year that have mold issues and health problems associated with mold and am very aware of the care needed in these situations and i believe that not only my record on angies list, but anywhere on the internet speaks for itself. I would truly like to help this client by going thru the steps we agreed to in the beginning but she has made it impossible by her actions, it is very unfortunate because we pride ourselves on customer service and communication. I have been in environmental remediation for twenty five years and have not had an issue that wasn’t worked out or at least a common understanding and some sort of a solution found, but i have exhausted my efforts at this point.

Description of Work: American Air Improvement Resources came out to help us find a source for our mold issues and give us a quote to get rid of the mold. They were able to locate a few areas of improvement that they recommended we perform before they come in to do the cleanup. They were very professional and we felt their price was very fair for what they would be doing. We are hoping to correct the problems with our property soon and fully intend to utilize this company for their services quoted to us.

I have a 1920s bungalow and wanted to remove a couple walls to do some electrical work. I wanted to know if there was asbestos in the walls just to be safe. I called the company and set up appointment and they were happy to work around my schedule. The inspector came out 2 days later and took 3 samples from different walls that I wanted to take out. It only took about 20 minutes, I asked him several questions about asbestos and he was very informative. The samples were sent out to a lab in Florida and I was sent a email as to what the results were within the next 2 days. The results came back positive for asbestos which I somewhat figured but now know for sure. Just have to decide now if I try to be cautious and use a mask and bag the plaster or have them come and remove it all professionally which im sure isnt cheap. Overall my experience was good I think 150 dollars might be a bit high but I would hire them again.

Let me see, where do I begin? We emailed and called Bob on our nagging issue of this mold throughout our basement. The house constantly smelled musty with the basement even worse. After reading the controversial reports on how potentially mold was hazardous to our health we had thought better late than never. We considered another highly rated company doing the same work but they were a lot higher in price by roughly $1,700. Well before they ever began this project, I was just plain doubtful. I just balk at spending so much money on projects like this and have them turn out sub-standard, plus getting ripped off. After reading so many favorable Angie's Lists reports though, you just have to consider differently. It's what people are truly saying about them I think. A chance to have their voices heard. On the contrary, Bob and his American Air team of 3 men made BIG believers out of us, period. From start to finish these workers were exceptionally courteous, respectful and never got in the way nor did they pester us needlessly. It was hard to know that they were here other than some normal noises. They were just the ideal workers you wanted to have and they worked very hard each day that they were here. It had taked them about 2 1/2 days total. They had bagged and taken many bags of mold infested debris that was torn out. And, they disposed of them. Wood paneled walls and mold infested drywall totally removed, and it's now down to the "skeleton" framing exposed. The last day that they were here, Bob came over to do a once, twice over to inspect their work. He wasn't happy with certain cleaning aspects after the gutting out, and he firmly but kindly instructed them that they had some more to do. They just did it. No balking, whining or anything. It's unbelievable, the transformation of our basement, our home. No more musty smells and odors. And, to top it all off, the cleanness and feel of our home once again. I truly really would have to recommend this company without hestation. This job was first rate, and above all else, Bob's very easy to deal with and he is very approachable. What a find. He honored the 5% Angie's List discount coupon, too.

Bob was very prompt in returning my call, and got a crew to the house the day after he inspected in, despite being very busy with other jobs. They were efficient and helpful through the whole process and let us know exactly what they were doing and why. They removed the floor tile and tore out the damaged portions of the drywall, as well as picking up some items that had been damaged and making sure they were taken care of appropriately. Best of all, the estimate I received was right on the money instead of considerably higher as has been my experience in the past with hiring contractors.
Description of Work: A friend and I own a property in Oak Creek, WI that had a flooded basement during the heavy spring rains. When the water was finally down, it became obvious that we were dealing with a mold problem. I contacted Bob Richards on a Wednesday, and my call was returned the same day. He scheduled an appointment to view the property the next day, and the following day his company came in and completed the work, which included removing some water that was left, removing the floor tile (which we later learned was asbestos) and tearing out a good portion of the drywall.
