CertaPro Painters of Milwaukee WI

I received quotes from several companies. One of the quotes was from "CertaPro Painters". The other companies were either more expensive or didn't send a written proposal after they saw the job. Brandon Otto representing "CertaPro Painters" came to my home and explained the process that was needed for our walls. He talked to us about the company and was himself a painter for the company. A printed estimate was given to us at this time. We accepted the contract with "CertaPro Painters" and we were contacted for a date to begin the process. Orlando Santiago was the painter that came with his assistant, to strip the wallpaper, clean the walls of glue, prime the walls, spray on texture and put on the two coats of color on the walls. Orlando was a consummate professional. He was extremely precise with his cleaning of the walls and was like an artist when he began prepping the walls and applying the paint. For the first time in my life I was able to see what a true professional painter did to apply his craft. He was an artist. After the work was completed, he cleaned the room like a true pro. I received compliments on the room from my friends and neighbors. It is truly a room that we are proud of and my wife said that the way the room turned our makes her happy every time she sees it. Preparing this writeup is very cumbersome and you need to update your process I don't need to type this in your box i am used to importing data. They showed up when they said they were going to. The quality of the painting was fine. I would use them again.

.My overall experience with Certapro was not very good because we were sincerely looking for a quote.

The price and quality was good. They were here when they said they were going to be here. They were here every morning and their professionalism was excellent. What they do is, they use contractors and the contractors that I had were out of Lake Geneva area. It’s a company that had all contractors working for them. They do it on the side besides on their own stuff.

The estimate and proposal by Matt were professional and thorough. The reality of who did the work and how they did it was different. Must also say the woman in the office was very responsive to me and prompt in getting back to me. The power washing was done when I was out of town because they a week early on the start date. There is not enough space to tell the entire story. Here's a short version. I had different people show up every day. On 2 of 4 days the supervisor /crew chief was gone for hours. Attention to detail was lacking. For example, I had top keep pointing out where caulking needed to be done; they power sprayed the paint without the splash shield the first day getting fine spray all over the window trim which they weren't painting; I had to keep telling them they need to remove the basement screen/storms to paint the basement windows; the rotten boards that had to be replaced did not get replaced until the last day- a rather backwards approach; I was told the carpenter would have to take care of painting what he put up; parts of the garage gutters that cannot be seen when standing on the ground did not get painted. I came home one day and found the trim had been painted the wrong color. I had given them the paint swatches and when I showed them the comparison the next day the painters said, " that doesn't match at all". Right!! They addressed this problem by using the correct color for the second coat. In December I discovered that garage walls that had plants in front of them did not get painted and neither did the bottom 2 inches on an entire side of the house. I would have gladly trimmed the plants and brushed back the dirt if I knew they weren't going to. I called the company and they will be coming back in April to fix this. I think that had I not been around everyday checking on things there would have been alot of details not attended to (like good scraping, caulking, using more than 2 screws when screwing the storms/screens back on). It seemed that the painting crew, which I found out on day 4 was subcontracted, had not seen the proposal (I was told they had it. I doubt they looked at it) and that there was no communication between the daily crew which kept changing. On day 3 one of the painters wrote done everything I told them and left it on site for the day 4 crew. On day 4 I found out that the reason the crew kept changing was that they were working on more than one house and moved people as they were needed. The crews did not clean up everyday as the contract read. I swept a bagful of paint chips off the patio the first day (and what was that I was told about the care needed when its possible that it is lead based paint?) They looked surpised when I asked them to clean up at least the large paint chips from the dirt around the house but they did it. When the job was finished there was a very thorough walk around to touch up areas in need. More communication is also needed between Matt and the painting crews he hires. I assumed that the painting crew would paint the house and move to the next job, not juggle people between jobs so there was little memory or coordination. I would recommend that Matt attend the final walk around since talking to the client afterwards is not helpful. He really should go and look at the finished job. While the house looks nice, it was a very frustrating experience. The quality of the job will only become evident in the next few years when we see how it holds up.

The estimator was certainly a professional, and easy to talk to. The estimate was detailed, and also very professional. The estimate I received was 40% MORE than the next highest estimate. The estimator explained their "crew" was detail oriented, and the estimate was high because they were planning more time for preparation - they key to a quality job. I hired them, convinced they could do the job. I willing to pay their high price, believing I'd be getting a quality job. In the end, the preparation was lacking. The quoted pressure washing was explained as "more of a wash," the "scraping" to remove loose/peeling paint was more like a child going over the surface with a putty knife. There are still easily visible areas of the job that have peeling paint, that have never been touched by new paint :( They did offer to come back to correct the errors, and after my persistence, they did lower the final price a token amount. However, I hired them to have a professional job performed right the first time, as was stated on my estimate... In the end, I paid way to much for an amateur job. I though I was hiring "cerftified professionals" based upon the company's name. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It was good. They did a good job. They did the job that they said they were going to do. They did the job for the price they said they were going to do. The quality of work was great. I would use them in the future.

My experience in terms of the quote process was very nice. I very much liked the gentleman that was here. He did a fine job. He was very cooperative and offered some suggestions and ideas. He recommended that I have someone from his staff come over for color recommendations and so on. I almost went with them, but I did not use them. I checked Angie’s List, and I did not like the write-ups that they had gotten from other people, so I decided to move on. Their estimated price was between $1300 and $1500. I would get another quote from them in the future but only if I saw better write-ups on Angie’s List.

I called to request an estimate. It took a couple days but they scheduled an in-home estimate of a fairly large job - enamel painting of all interior woodwork (window/door trim and baseboards). Estimates from others ran around $7,000. The estimator seemed to be eager and knowledgeable. He left some literature and promised an estimate within a few days. That's the last I heard from him or anyone at CertaPro. Since there were other painters that demonstrated a sincere desire to get my business, I didn't call CertaPro back. Apparently they weren't interested. To my way of thinking, their lack of response seemed indicative of the calibre of work I could expect.

Overall it went very well. From sales to the actual work, everyone worked hard to make sure the project went as well as possible. In all phases, I felt everyone listened to my concerns, and they took a lot of time to make sure I was happy with the work being done. I couldn't be more happy with the quality of work performed. The painters were very professional, did an excellent job! The high quality of the work and the time they took to perform the work went above an beyond any expectations I may have had. The work went faster than expected, and they left the job site (my yard) picked up and neat. The paint job is now complete, and even though I don't like the color I picked, I do like the quality of work a lot. The only thing I would recommend is that you are at the project site when they start painting. That way you can check the color of the paint to make sure it is correct, and a color you will be happy with for a long time. I will give them a chance to quote the re-paint with a new color.

I needed the work done in order to satisfy the needed work to get my HUD refinance to go through. I called a number of companies but they were not willing to do the work because it was winter and below 35 degrees out. When I called Certapro (Thursday) they actually responded to my needs like it was very important. For reasons I won't go into (HUD junk) I had to have the work done within four days. Certapro came out immediately (Friday) the next day and had workers on scene on Saturday. The job was finished on Sunday and passed HUD inspection the following week. Workers were personal and professional. I have no idea if the cost was appropriate but I needed help immediately and over a weekend and got what I asked for. I am satisfied and grateful to Certapro.

They arrived on time. Salespreson kept changing the contract so I didn't get the colors I wanted. On the third day one of the crews brother showed up to help, needless to say no speak english. One of the least professional companies I have ever delt with.

The gentlemen who set up the deal showed a promising start, but when the crew pulled up, it appeared one of the five men lied in the car, drunk. The supervisor just came one in a while. The workers remaining...after some left to different worksites...used our trees to wipe off brushes. They left paint on our hoses. They stepped on curtains with painted shoes. One dumped a can of paint right on the carpet. The coverage was bad too. My brand new couch got paint on it too. Very unprofessional.

Did not start well. Contract called for painters to arrive on 10/12/10 at 8:00 am. By 9:00 am I called Certa to find out what was going on. I was told that the crew should have been there. Called again around 10:00 am, still no crew. Called again around noon and was told that the crew had been delayed by a carpentry issue and would not be done with the job until Thursday. Certa offered to get a new crew to do my work on Wednesday, I accepted this offer. This lack of communication on the part of Certa was terrible. Don't they know what their crews are doing? The new painter arrived on Wednesday, on time. Came again on Thursday, on time, to complete the work. Rick did a great job on the caulking and painting and we were very satisfied with the job. Rick took great pains to make sure we were satisfied with the job. So, other than the poor coummication on the original scheduled day, everything else went well and the contract was completed.

I've used CertaPro Milwaukee in the past at a previous employer where they did multiple projects for me. I've since left that company don't really need a finisher because my new company doesn't do that; however this was an exception. My customer was already upset due to a delay in her custom order and was promised finishing by my manager so I called Matt and said I really need a favor. It's a small job but it needs to be done well and quickly to help smooth things over. He did the quote on a Saturday, the work was squeezed in the following week (it was small) and the customer was happy, whcih made me and my manager happy.

Overall, Certapro did a quality job at a great price. The workers were very detailed and responsive to my stingent specifications for calking joints. Workers were also very courteous and cleaned up after themselves. However, the office staff was not very well organized. After my initial estimate, I spoke with the owner about a few modifications to the initial specs. It turned into a hassle getting a new specification sheet and several calls and emails were required. There was a lot of poor communication from the office along the way relative to scheduling. The job took nearly 5 weeks from the time our house was powerwashed to final completion. While some of the delay was due to a week of rain, much of it had to do with the work crews only working half days and getting pulled on to other jobs. So we had to be patient. But all in all, the house looks great at a very reasonable price.

Watch out. They are not well organized. Nor did they have the professional decency to apologize when their mistake was brought to their attention.

We were very impressed with the estimator. We were in no hurry, so work did not begin for several months after the estimate. On the day the work was to begin, a crew of 2 showed up several hours late. Instead of getting right to work, they took paint samples, had me sign the contract and said they'd be back in 1 1/2 hours. They did not show for 5 hours. The power washing was done and they said they'd be back in a few days...to let the siding dry. I phoned Luke (the scheduler) with a complaint about how late the crew showed and their lack of professionalism. I requested a different crew for the painting...saying I did not have confidence in this crew. He agreed to send a different crew in a weeks time. The crew he sent was very competent and did an excellent job....absolutely no complaints. Aside from the first crew that was sent out...happy with the job.

I was pretty pleased with the estimate. There wasn't anything that I disliked about them. I would've used them if I hadn't picked another company. They had good customer service and were very thorough. The estimate was on the dot. It was very good.

They seemed fine. They were professional. I will probably use them in the future.

We spent over $3,000 for the kitchen work. They do a good job, but they are on the pricey side. One of the things that they talk about before the job is the clean up and there a couple of minor things that they could not take care of. They used water to clean the interiors of our kitchen floor and you are not supposed to use water on those floors. They used water on it three times because it had dust on it and I did not like that idea. They left a short circuit in a wall before they painted it and they got someone to solve it. It took a while for me to find the problem, but other than that they did a good job. We were very pleased with the way it turned out. We agreed to pay them by the hour and it took an extra day to get the stuff done and that did not add up. They were here when they said they would be and stepped on the job till it was done.

Very professional from start to finish. I will have them back to paint garage before fall!!

Very well. The painter did a very good job in the dining and master bedroom. He was punctual, neat and professional. It may be the color we choose (gold), but we can see streaks in the foyer and hall. However, red in the dining room turned out great in two coats (plus primer).

They did a very good job with the clean up, taking care of the plants and trees in my yard, and the overall finished product. Tim also did some wood repair that has withstood the winter. Matt, the owner, was very helpful in watching over the project. He assisted me with color selection, and was overall very helpful.

Overall it was great. They weren't always the cheapest finisher, but the work was great and they really worked with my ever changing needs and deadlines.
