Bruce Dahlgren Construction LLC

I contacted Bruce after reading his great reviews on Angie's List. He was very responsive via telephone and came out to our home within two days to provide a quote. We were surprised and happy to get an immediate quote. Bruce was very willing "go with the flow" given that we had some creative ideas in mind. Bruce and his crew showed up punctually the morning work began and within minutes they had a full production underway. They worked quickly and thoroughly, completing our job within a day and a half, less than the two day estimate we were given. Bruce was on-site the entire time. His crew was excellent. We're thrilled with the job they did and highly recommend Bruce Dahlgren Construction.

Bruce was wonderful to work with-courteous, prompt and thoughtful and explained everything completely. He and his crew did a great job on the concrete and also did several small helpful things related to the job and left the area neat and clean when they were finished. I would definitely hire him again to do work for me and have recommended him to friends and family. I could not be more pleased.

He was outstanding. It took 2 days and they worked like beavers. Everything was handled quite well. There was a little problem with one of the electric eye's but we are fixing it now and he is doing what he needs to do.

Very positive experience. Bruce has good ideas and suggestions. His crew is fast and capable. Our walk has curves in it and they did a fine job.

Bruce came out initially on a Saturday to give an estimate. After having looked at the driveway he mentioned that drainage was an issue. He promised to come by again with a measuring device to calculate pitch. That was the last we heard from him.

We had to wait about 3 months for him to do the work since he was so busy. He came promptly and finished the job within 24 hours. We were very pleased with the outcome.

Bruce was the only contractor we talked with who really explained what needed to happen, why, and how he would handle it. He knew what he was doing. And, his price was a great one. In addition, whenever we needed to talk through some aspect of the job, he was right there - no detail was too small. His contractual arrangements are very favorable and he was a pleasure to work with.

They did a thorough job fixing the problem. Their prices were pretty ballpark as well. They cleaned up all their mess before they left. I would recommend them and use them again.

They were fantastic. Price was probably middle of the road but it was worth it. They even let my daughter put her handprint in the driveway. This was a very narrow driveway.

Bruce was prompt in returning my initial call. He set up an inperson estimate and arrived on time. Prior to the estimate, he called the municipality, building inspector, and subdivision developer to inquire about restrictions and permits. He provided information to answer questions that I asked as well as those that I did not even know to ask. The estimate was detailed, fair and honest. We had 3 other bids. Each came in within $500 of his bid for comparable materials and complexity. One company answered my questions before I asked, as Bruce did. None of the others called the municipality or were aware of the restrictions or need for a permit. We signed with Bruce. He ended up sending more than just my estimate. I had to mail back estimates for 2 other customers that were in the same envelope. We were given a 3 week window for starting the job. Due to heavy rain this spring, the job started just after the timeframe. He gave me occasional updates on when the job could be started. On the first day, we walked around as he measured dimensions and painted edges. He went over the chronological order, what to expect, and how to get into the house without disturbing the wet concrete. Our gutter downspouts had not yet been buried. He placed PVC pipe under the walk and patio for future redirection away from the house. He even attached the downspouts were the patio went to elbow joints so that it would not have to be done later. We were billed at cost for the PVC and not for the extra labor. Each day, he called to describe what was done and reviewed what could be walked on. The concrete truck made deep ruts in the soil. He said that he was able to smooth them out with the Bobcat. There were no problems or complications that he commented on nor that I can detect. Everything was cleaned up and looks great.

They were did a very nice job. They were on time and they did a nice job. They did not make a mess and I would use them again in the future if needed.

Bruce was great to work with. His quote was $1,800 less than the other quote we got for the exact same work. Our quote was scheduled for the end of March, but then we were hit with that final huge snow storm. He called to ask if he could delay the quote until the snow started to melt. He said he could then see how the water was draining from our patio and driveway, and which way he would need to pitch the new concrete. We never had thought of that, and I guess the other contractor we got a quote from didn?t either, since they didn?t reschedule and came a few days after the snow storm. Bruce and his crew were very professional. We had a new electrical line put in our garage and he came out several weeks earlier to remove some areas of the patio for us. The communication was great and if I ever had any questions they were happy to answer them. We also were thinking of having the entire driveway redone, and the other contractor we got a quote from told us it would be another $7,100. However, Bruce said he would love to do the job for us, but he thought the asphalt was still in really good shape. He thought it would last another 10 years or more if we just had it sealed every few years. Talk about honesty! We would definitely use them again for future service and would recommend them to others.

I thought the work was good- their advise, professionalism, everything. However, the finish was a little rough, and I noticed over the winter that there are a few areas were water seems to pool a little. I would have liked to see a little better finish that was more level.

Quick, clean and on schedule. Bruce is by far the best contractor I have worked with. He calls when he says he is going to call and shows up when he says he is going to show up. He did the whole project in 1.5 days and left the site very clean. Nice job! I would use him again.

The job done was better than we had expected. They were very timely and a pleasure to work with. They were careful not to damage any plants and he kept the yard very clean. I would highly recommend them.

This is the second time we have used them. They worked quickly, cleaned up thoroughly, and did a great job!

After obtaining this company's name from Angie's list, we contacted Bruce and he came out to give an estimate. He was very knowledgeable, answered all our questions, discussed options, measured our driveway and provided a written estimate. Compared to the other contractors we met with, he was professional, friendly and took the time to answer our questions. He arrived on time on the scheduled day and began with the removal of our existing driveway. The entire process took 3 days. He was present on the job, working along with his employees and cleaned up any debris each day. The day after the job was done, he came back for a final inspection and made sure we were satisfied with the result.

We contacted him and 2 other contractors for our job. One company wanted only to mudjack. Bruce and another contractor came and gave us an estimate. Bruce had a lower estimate and gave us a price quote immediately, but could not guarantee the work would be completed by November 1st. The other contractor put us on his schedule, gave us some neat ideas and we went with the other contractor. The contractor canceled the day before the job was to start and Bruce called the week prior telling us he could complete the work. We called Bruce and him and his employees came out on November 1st (late for concrete work) and completed the job in 2 days. We are very satisfied with the work. He probably used more materials than he originally planned but did not charge us for the extra cost.

Bruce Dahlgren gave us a prompt quote after discussing the job in detail. We were impressed that he recommended a more modest project than originally intended. He explained it would take him about six weeks to get to our job; he was off by just one week due to heavy rain. We are senior citizens and were very impressed with the fact Bruce also moved planters and other equipment off the driveway for us plus made minor repairs to our garage doors to seat properly on the new concrete, all at no charge. He pulled all permits and notified the inspectors of his method for handling the drainage, which was approved. Finally he took the time to explain the proposal to our neighbor. The entire job took 3 half days: removal, first pour, and the second pour. We would recommend Bruce Dahlgen to anyone, but especially to senior citizens. He made the whole process painless. Great job, great work!

Excellent, Bruce Dahlgren gave me an estimate, a time frame and both were completed exactly as promised. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up and Bruce followed up with me immediately after the job was completed. Would highly recommend Bruce Dahlgren Construction to anyone.

Biggest problem was getting the building permit - the local village inspection office was difficult and obstructive. Eventually, it was necessary to have a new survey of the lot done and submitted before a permit could be issued. During that whole, unpleasant experience, Bruce was courteous, understanding, and did all of the discussion with the inspectors. Once the permit was issued, we were amazed at how quickly the work was done (about 2 days), and how well the changes to the stoop and steps work. After a full winter and daily use, the pad, steps, and stoop show no cracks, discoloration, or wear. We are very satisfied with the work done.

Bruce's crew was very clean, quick, and friendly, my neighbors let me know they were very courteous to them as well, explaining the work they were doing. Bruce called me a few times to let me know about some minor issues that he had, and was great at communicating during the time the work was being done. He showed up for the estimate when he said he would, he started the work when he said he would, and he completed it quickly and did a very high quality job.

We received an estimate in late April or early May knowing that we wanted the work done sometime during late June but before the week of July 4th. Bruce took into consideration our time frame. He and his crew did an excellent job. The job took about six hours from start to finish. My wife and I were very happy with the job.
