We spent $8000 or $9000 on that work. Overall our experience was great. They were really quick and did a really nice job. The only complaint we had and called them and let them know was that they did not do a very good clean up. We have two very small children and two dogs and there were nails and cigarette butts left everywhere. That was the only down point, otherwise they were great. Bruce was very helpful and gave us good ideas of how to make the patio fit. He suggested that we make it larger and curve it and was interested in making sure we were happy.

Long Version: In early June we called Bruce to set up an appointment for an estimate to install a patio and to correct drainage problems. The following Saturday we met. I explained what we were trying to accomplish with the new patio regarding drainage. Bruce presented his views on how to produce a finished patio with the correct drainage and stated that he would mail an estimate the following week with a work date likely in August. After receiving the estimate I contacted Bruce, and informed him that we had second thoughts on part of the project and we would like to discuss these issues with him prior to signing the contract. Bruce stated that he would keep us on the schedule and that he would address those issues and the contract when he came to do the job. Four weeks after our conversation I called Bruce to see where we were? My call was returned 2 days later and I was informed that we were about 3 weeks out and he would call a week before the scheduled work date. Bruce called 3 weeks later we met on Saturday informing us that the decision regarding how to address the drainage (using a swale compared to a flat directional pitch) would be made when they tore out the old patio and setup a transit to record the heights. I received a call on the following Monday and was told the work would begin on Thursday at 7:30am and the work would take one day. Thursday at 7:30am Bruce and his 5 man crew were ready to go! Bruce manned the Bobcat and tore out the concrete, everyone was doing something and by 9:00am the old concrete was gone. Then Bruce used a transit to measure the heights and setup the drainage direction. Once all that was done he showed me how we would be able to go with a flat patio pitched towards the driveway for drainage and we would have a seamless walk from the house door to the yard and driveway (no steps or swale). Then up went the forms, expansion joints and then the fill to raise the patio area up app. 8 inches by the house; I had them go over the first row of siding with the concrete to get the necessary height to ensure drainage to the driveway. Bruce was right in there trawling the concrete to ensure that the pitch was what he wanted. When the concrete pouring was finished it was an amazing transformation. What was once a mismatched landscaping job now was a beautiful and seamless transition that begins at the rear house door and flows out unto the patio and then your choice is to drift to the driveway or yard? Upon completion at 1:15pm I asked Bruce what the final cost would be. His response was that the price would be the original contract quote that we had not signed. When Bruce arrived for the first viewing he had brought along an employee of his to help him, I was really surprised because I had worked with his employee a couple of years earlier in the winter off season; and I knew him as a meticulous, self starter and just an around good worker who liked his concrete job. With Angie?s List reviews and my personal knowledge of his employee my decision was made to go with Bruce for the work. My impression of Bruce Dergren is that of a man who runs his company on his word. His work is his art, his word is his bond and his craftsmanship is his image. I would recommend him very highly. His crew of 5 was extremely polite, neat, and knowledgeable. Everyone knew what to do and when to do it, five people acting as one. They were his crew, not summertime temporary help. Bruce is the owner, salesman, phone staff, supervisor and concrete artist. So you do not have a salesman promising you the moon and the installer asking you ?who said that? and then the phone secretary answering ?what?. Bruce?s company pours concrete, they do not do Stamping, Coloring or Mud Jacking nor do they have a showroom, salesman or secretary. This allows him to price his work on the pouring of concrete and does not have to include the associated costs that these other services would add to the overhead. What this means is that your estimate will not be inflated to cover these additional services you might not be using. We highly recommend Bruce Dergren Construction LLC without any reservations and believe you too will be as satisfied as we are!

Entire job took only 2 days. Very efficient crew. Good clean-up. Friendly people.

I called and left messages to receive an estimate 3 separate times. They never called back.

Things went very well. I dealt one on one with the owner, Bruce, from beginning to end. Bruce was very reachable and responsive to all my questions leading up to the job. Bruce was more then willing to come out more then once to meet to discuss the specifics of the job and the quote. They had all of the equipment (e.g. bobcat, dump truck, etc) to do the job on their own without having to subcontract any of the work. Bruce was not only here throughout the project, he was part of the crew actually doing the work. All of the crew stayed til the job was complete (even thorough lunch). Iy has been almost a year since the concrete has been poured and everything is still great.

Bruce gave me an quote that was half the price of two other contractors. After meeting Bruce, I could tell that the other good reviews on angies list were spot on. Bruce was friendly, professional, patient, and genuine. His crew came out about 2 weeks after I signed a contract and finished the job in less than a day. They cleaned up everything but the caution tape!! The workmanship is superb and exactly the way I wanted it. I could not ask for more, this is the best contractor I have ever worked with.

Good drainage to the street and away from the house. Work team was pleasant and respectful. Area was cleaned up well. Bruce was patient with all of our quesitons and even met at the house an extra time to meet with the contractor doing a paver patio that impacts the sidewalk.

Work was great, although it took a long time (due to weather) to get the project started. All work was completed in 1 day. Bruce was very helpful in advising on whether I needed a footing for a pergola, and poured it the day of work even though that was not included in the original estimate.

Bruce arrived to the appointment to provide a free estimate on time. He is an extremely nice and professional person and was able to share his knowledge of his trade by giving a detailed explanation of the work which would be done. His professionalism has never been matched by any service provider I have had at my home. After having three estimates completed Bruce's estimate came in exactly the same as another one of the other bids. The third bid was over $4,000 more! His pricing is compeditive. The job was scheduled out 4-6 weeks after the contract was sent in. The job did get pushed back a few weeks due to Wisconsin weather. The job began on Friday, July 16 with removal of the existing concrete in the back yard as well as the front walkway. By that afternoon the backyard had been re graded with a new patio and walkway installed. Monday July, 19 the work resumed with the removal of the front stoop and driveway. The same day the front stoop, walkway and driveway had all been replaced. The job looks fantastic! Bruce was very communicative with me during the entire process. I would reccommend Dahlgren Construction to anyone. A+++++++

Everything went extremely well. They tore out the old concrete walks on a Tuesday afternoon and poured new ones the following morning. It only took three hours for them to complete the pouring job.

very timely on estimates and updates on the schedules ( rain delays), removed old concrete in an amazingly short time, was careful of neighbors flowers,his employees installed very rigid forms to his exacting directions, poured very quickly, was careful of the front yard with the concrete truck, the finishers are artists in the way they worked the material to have such a very fine result. cleaned the work area, put up caution tape, and left more instruction than was really needed, but these people are artists and they try to help us less inclined to take care of their art.

Excellent experience all the way around-showed up exactly when they said performed removal of old driveway and poured new driveway in just 3 days total-I'd hire these guys again in a second.

The finished job was wonderful. The service, the professionalism and the workers themselves were the best they could be. Mr Dahlgren was very easy to work with and when I let him know time was of the essence, he was very helpful in getting my job in as quickly as he possibly could. I can't say enough good about this experience.

Did exactly what he said he would do and even added the creative fix for along side the garage which turned out to be "very" beneficial.

I requested an estimate through the Angies List website. BDC called me within a couple hours to verfiy my address and what I wanted estimated. I was told that a representative would call to schedule a meet time. The representative called back with another hour and again verified what I wanted estimated. The rep was able to visit my home, completed a written estimate, and left it in my front door without me or anyone else being home. The estimate was very complete and easy to understand. Overall, BDC was a very pleasant, easy to speak with company. Their communication was quick and excellent.

Bruce was extremely quick to respond to my initial call for an estimate. From the time he came out to do the estimate until he got the work done was approximately 10 days. We had a new 24x14 concrete patio poured in the backyard, and we are very satisfied with the work. The process was painless, his guys were very good and cleaned up everything, and he was here supervising the entire time. I would highly recommend Bruce and his crew; I wish all contractors could be as pleasant and easy to work with!

It was $2,000 more than the company we decided to use. He didn't want to do a step-less entry the way that we wanted him to do.

Bruce was great to work with, very reasonably priced and reliable. The whole job just took a few hours.

The work was done in 3 days, (July 17,18, and 19, 2007) with 2 concrete pours. The existing patio and all the plantings, along with the existing driveway was removed in one day, and the area was graded level, and prepared for new concrete the next day. Concrete was poured for the patio, and for the room addition on day 2, and the driveway was poured on day 3. Everything looked great, excellent joints, and the smooth textured surface was, to my eyes done perfectly. We were thrilled with the results. The following spring, we noticed that a few small spots in the driveway, and particularly at the base of the driveway, near the street, were delaminating and exposing the aggregate stones. This was deteriorating and we could see it was going to be a problem. My immediate thought was , oh no, here's why we got such a great deal on this work. I called Bruce and explained what was happening and asked him to come look at it. He personally came out, looked at the problems areas, and immediately said he would have to remove and replace the entire driveway. He told me that the second batch of concrete was not "good" from the concrete provider, and that he would "eat" the labor cost and he would charge the concrete company for the replacement concrete itself and that someone from the concrete company would likely be coming out to see the issue for themselves. For the record, the patio has remained perfect, and so has the concrete in the 3 season porch, so Bruce was apparently correct in his evaluation and proposed of the problem. He asked how soon I wanted to do the work, and I told him I was in no particular hurry, and that late summer 2008 would be fine. He contacted me in late summer 2008, and told me he was ready to schedule the work. I asked him if we would be better off waiting until 2009, so that the driveway would have plenty of time to cure, and he said sure, we can wait until 2009, but that he would do the work in 2008 if we wanted it done. We told him 2009 was fine. He did just that, his crew removed the entire new driveway on July 30, 2009, and repoured the entire driveway, on July 31st, 2009. I've waited until now to tell the story, because I wanted to make sure that the driveway was perfect, before I endorsed Bruce's company. It has gone through another winter, and is still perfect now. When hiring contractors, it has been my experience that you don't truly get to know the business owners ethics until you have a problem. If everything works well, you never egt to see the companies response to stress and issues. Bruce could not have been more professional in all of his dealings with us, and I would always suggest you ask him for a bid on whatever project you have in mind. He may not be the lowest price everytime, but you do get what you pay for in our experience. It is my opinion that his company will be continue to be very successful over time with his leadership.

Pretty easy-they finsihed within 4 hours-and the patio looks nice-and has a great shape (rounded corners now instead of squared) and a much more appropriate size and pitch away from the house. The machinery did tear up the lawn a little more than we expected-and also made some pretty decent black tracks on the driveway-though Bruce did warn us in advance that that would be the case.

Contract was written in late Nov. of 2009 and prices at that time were the best of the three bids. As the fall quickly turned cold and icy, I requested the work be saved for the fall. Bruce agreed to postponing the work till early Spring with no additional costs. Bruce contacted us April 15 and asked us to look over the work site so there would be no misunderstandings before they began the work. On April 16 ( a Saturday) Bruce came over and made sure we were clear on all the work we requested and that was part of the contract. At that time, we added a few modifications that Bruce said he would perform with no additional costs. On April 19 the job was started and on April 20 all was completed including a full clean up of the old concrete. On the 20th, I was given the grand tour of all the procedures and special techniques Bruce had employed to make sure the job was done correctly with the proper slope/pitch to ensure no future water problems. This being quite important since nearly 60 feet of the sidewalk butt directly up to the home's foundation wall. Where felt was needed, felt was used. Where reinforcement bars needed, those were used. It was so obvious Bruce was not only a master at this trade but also a motivator for his crew to do their very best to keep the customers satisfied. It worked. The completed job makes the whole house and yard look 100% better.

He did an excellent job. Our experience with him was very good. He was there the whole time and didn?t have his workers to do it. He explained about the job to us and came up with some good ideas that we hadn?t thought of, including some design ideas too. He also suggested that we grade the area near the concrete sidewalk from the driveway to the rear entrance of the home, which was an excellent suggestion. He met all our expectations and we are very happy with them. We have also recommended him to others in our neighborhood. His price was excellent in comparison with others. His responsiveness and professionalism were very good. His punctuality was excellent too. We will definitely use his services in the future.

The whole experiance was great. Bruce came a couple days after calling to give an estimate and he was able to give it to us while he was here unlike the other ones we received and had to wait several days for. His estimate was also 500-1000 dollars less that the others. He was able to give suggestions that were really helpful and made the space more useful for us. He also was willing to install a basketball pole for no extra charge in the cement and the other places wanted to charge up to 300 dollars for this. He came on time with his crew, put in as expected, we paid what was expected and are VERY happy with his work and professionalism.
