Fresh Start Restoration

Do not trust Keith elliot and fresh start renovations. Keith started working for us on January 28, 2025. We met him at a coffee shop and told him exactly what the job position entailed. He seemed like a great fit. He said him and his brother owned like 5000 units. Now I question that. He’s very personable. Do not be fooled by him. He is also seems very educated on maintenance and construction projects. I asked him if he knew how to run ductwork for an existing air handler at a house we were selling? He said oh yes, I know how to do it. Keith and Rick his co-worker spent a few days re-running all the duct work. It looked like it was done right. He charged us. $3126.40 for labor & $1098.04 for material. We called a professional license company to hook up the air handler. He came over to give me an estimate on the air handler and said will be more than happy to do this. However, your duct work is completely done wrong. I was in shock I said what do you mean it’s done wrong? He said all the runs are too small. It will not do anything. It’ll never be able to keep up and explained what had to be done. unfortunately, it had to all be redone. I had told this to Keith that it’s all going to have to be redone and that he’s going to have to repay us back for the labor. He agreed that he would pay it back. In hindsight, we should’ve saw the signs. He had excuses when he wouldn’t respond to us for days on end. We have tenants that needed maintenance done that he was ignoring. He also did other maintenance or projects wrong that ended up costing us a lot of money and materials and labor that he charged us for even though it wasn’t done correctly. Our gas fireplace was not working. He put the parts of $550 in it worked for a minute. Then stop working. I asked him if it’s not gonna work then we need to take these parts back. That was a whole another fiasco. They take one part out and take it back to Racine all dirty and the company didn’t want to take it back. I asked him to clean it up and why would he try to return it like that? Then there’s another part once again had to go back to the house take it off and return it. We were charged all this time in labor? We asked him to wrap some pipes in the basement. They wrapped it with some silver aluminum material. It looked really stupid and that was more cost that we couldn’t return the material because it was already used. We send them over to one of our other properties had a water leak going to the downstairs. He said it was a shower. I was getting ready to redo the whole shower. Thank God he didn’t show back up because it wasn’t the shower. It was the roof vent. Early on when he was working for us, we asked him to pick up a Well from Lisbon and install it at one of our properties outside. It’s a front window for the basement. They don’t install it. They just said it next to it for somebody to steal. I’m sure there’s a lot of other issues that we dealt with, but this is just some of them and he only worked for us for a couple months. We have repeatedly tried to resolve this without taking us to the authorities to fall on deaf ears. He would say yes I’m coming over. We would set a time and not show up and now he’s just ignoring our text messages. He has been warned. Unfortunately, now we have to report him and his business to the Better Business Bureau, Angie’s list where we found him and end up having to sue him in court if he doesn’t settle up with us. Like I said, he’s a very nice guy and very personable, but not trustworthy. He not only kept the 60 receipts of ours. He kept our Home Depot card and our master key and I’m gonna call the state of Wisconsin to see if I can file a report for theft of Contractor. Very sad that you can’t trust anybody these days because he seems so trustworthy.

I appreciated that Keith called to let me know he was in transit and arrived at our scheduled time. The work was professional and overall a friendly satisfied experience.

Keith is a very talented and positive person. I had a small job for him and he treated it like a big one. The job was done well. He’s my go to guy from now on.

Very efficient. Fast and friendly. Arrived early. Will contact him again for future projects. Highly recommend!

Very Well

Keith Elliot helped with our plumbing issue that happened. Even though Choice warranty denied our claim he was able to come out and help with the fix for out of pocket on our side. He is extremely knowledgeable and knows how to work with old plumbing for what to replace and what can be done with repairing the existing ones. Definitely recommend him.

Keith fixed our pocket door after it came off-track. He was friendly and professional, first coming out to have a look at the problem and ensure he would have the right materials, then coming back to do the work. He found the parts, fixed the door, took apart and replaced the molding, and charged a very reasonable price. The door is working great! Highly recommend for everyday household fixes, but I hear he can do larger scale projects as well!

Very expensive

Keith no showed on us 2 times and never contacted. He said he would call and never did. We had to reach out both times to reschedule with no responses. He also only provided a bandaid solution to the problem. If our project was in over his head he should have just been honest about it instead of not showing up, withholding information and not answering us.

Keith's a great person, but communications skills are poor at best. Initially he installed a water heater over w week ago, was suppose to remove the old water heater which is still in my basement. He helped out by going to Home Depot to pick up the water heater & dishwasher. The install for the dishwasher which is in my rear yard under a tarp is still waiting for installation. Despite calls and text messages to Keith I get almost no replies. If he is overbooked e rely would be great. This is no way to work with customers. Rating, very unreliable with terrible communication !! Whether I would continue to work with this service is unknown.

The door repair was more complex than estimated and incurred a larger cost, but Keith brought a wide range of skills and did a fantastic job. He was on time, professional and friendly. Would definitely rehire.

Excellent. From my first phone conversation with Keith, and this was confirmed by his on site estimate, I knew I was working with an honest, skilled tradesman. I have a thiry plus year old condo I want to get ready for sale in 3-4 years so his suggestions and answers to my questions were spot on. He even made a recommendation regarding balcony work being done thru home owners association that I brought up at monthly meeting and it was taken care of.

The window was repaired and is now fully functioning.

Just fine. I was very impressed with Keith’s responsiveness - he replied to my Angi inquiry minutes after I made it. While he wasn’t able to come out as planned due to unexpected personal matters, he kept in touch and still was able to do the work roughly two weeks later…including a couple of hours on a Sunday to finish the painting. He found a way to fish the cable in a better way than I was thinking. He also asked other good general questions that led to some very nice tips for me/us on things to do for our house related to a newly repaired and refinished basement. Lastly, he took care of one simple thing that wasn’t part of the original job and I’m wasn’t able to do safely on the exterior of our house. We gladly paid him $100 extra than our agreed upon price, which seemed fair for the original work, b/c of his extra efforts & insight. Keith will be my first call the next time I need something done around the house that I can’t do.

Job was never completed due to contractors having some personal problems. Issue with contractor was resolved when it was agreed that down payment would be refunded. Down payment was received from contractor in a timely manor.

Excellent workmanship promptly performed

Communicated well and was very punctual. Gave excellent tips on how to do it myself next time and also was very insightful as to how to maintain it moving forward.

Did a wonderful job, one of my locks was sticking, therefore, at times I would have a difficult time opening the door. Now, it's working great!!
