The movers (not the owner) arrived and looked around. One said, "this ain't gonna happen for $137/hour. My response was, that is the quote we got from Scott (the owner). Movers grumbled and complained and finally my husband called the owner and asked that he speak with his guys about their behavior. We purchased lunch for the movers and provided soda (also gave them each some Canadian fish and a $20 each tip). At our new home, a sofa had to be taken to the basement. I asked them to take off the basement door (3 times) and they said they didn't need to. The sofa leg made a hole in the basement door! My dresser was damaged, one leg broken off and back where mirror attached was splintered off. Leg on antique secretary broken off. It was noted on the paperwork we signed at the end of the move, I wrote out their check, and they left, saying Scott would contact me about the damaged items. That was on a Thursday. Hadn't heard anything by the following Wed., so called and said I had been waiting. Was told he would contact me. Waited another day, no contact, so I called again. Finally after more than a week, the owner and one of the movers came out to assess the damage. They did not remove their shoes and as we were looking at the dresser leg, the mover had tracked in oil and there were 18 footprints on our bedroom carpet. I said I'd get my new carpet cleaner and Scott said, "No, I will do it. I have the supplies to do it". They left with the dresser and said it would be back in 2 days. It was not and I called repeatedly asking for it. I was living out of Rubbermaid bins for my clothing, the drawers were lined up in the guest bedroom, and we were having company come to help out. After several more calls, he arrived to clean the carpet (with lighter fluid). it didn't look good so he said, you should call your carpet guy.
Dresser did not come back and I called daily, even waiting several days, not leaving the house in case he came when he said he would. Didn't come. Twice! Finally, the day before our company was to arrive, my husband called and said, "We will be up until 9:00 pm, and you WILL deliver the dresser today. The dresser came at 4:30 pm for which my husband had to leave work to be here because I had rescheduled a haircut (from when they were supposed to come earlier but didn't) and had to leave at 4:30 pm.
Leg was glued back on antique secretary (and the clamp holding it one is still there). He has not come back to replace the basement door and after repeated phone calls, was told the 2nd week in May that we should "be patient with Scott". Apparently he is a busy man. I don't doubt that, however I paid immediately upon delivery of my goods, and expected that his customer service would reflect on his original de-meaner the day he came to give me a quote.
We would just go out and buy a door and pop it on ourselves, but I doubt that we'd ever get reimbursed for it. We are beyond frustrated and ready to report to the Better Business Bureau.
