We left on vacation, and came home to a flooded main floor as a result of a failed washer on an upstairs toilet supply line. Once the disaster clean up folks were out, we had several companies come to provide estimates. We immediately felt a good rapport with Paul at PWC, and chose them to do our work. Their project manager, Holly, spent an enormous amount of time working with us, as the damage was extensive and we also chose at that time to remodel all 3 bathrooms. While we spent $6500ish of our own with PWC (and about $1500 on our own in materials), insurance picked up a MUCH larger tab for restoration work. I haven't done the final tally, but I would bet the total would be somewhere around $30,000. First, the good: EVERYONE at PWC was respectful, courteous, responsive, and attentive to any/all questions or concerns we had. The eventual product finish was good work, and despite some bumps along the way, we would use them again. Most of their subs were great! Particularly, the electricians and plumbers they brought in . . . I would recommend them to anyone. Next, the less good but typical: This project took over twice the estimated time to finish as the original schedule. Several trades, including paint and drywall in particular, did less than satisfactory work on their first trips. While PWC never hesitated to bring people back to correct things, the time spent waiting for things to be redone, pushed things out for weeks. We had an over-size tub special ordered that was installed improperly by an internal PWC employee, and cracked. The next one to come wasn't the right tub, and the one after that was finally installed correctly by the plumbers. The real bummer: Unnecessary mess and disorganization. While construction is dirty, a few people failed to take proper precautions when doing work, or pay attention to the fact that a family was still living in the home. One evening early in the project, we came home to no functional toilet. Drywallers failed to seal off rooms and I came home another night to a bed completely coated in drywall dust. The new bathtub wasn't protected and was sprayed with all manner of paint and texture. Pieces and parts of things lay in disarray in my guest room, garage and kitchen. I am still sorting out where some things went. PWC was extraordinarily apologetic, and worked to mitigate the extra dirt. They took some money off the final bill, and were very responsive to my concerns. OVERALL: The respect, responsiveness, and willingness to finish the job to our standards without question make up for any flaws with individual workers. In a job involving this many trades, some bad apples were bound to surface, and the important part is that the job got done, and done well.
