D&F plumbing came to estimate cleaning a chronic problem shower drain. We decided to replace the drain instead. The same plumber came back a few days later and completed the project two hours ahead of schedule and $200 cheaper than the estimate. We have used D&F before and will use them again!
Description of Work: Replaced clogged 80 year old shower drain line. He reconfigured the line to the appropriate slope, tied it in with the sink drain line and then the sewer connection.

On time; polite. I was not happy he couldn't diagnose the problem but I decided to get new toilet to avoid any potential water damages from undiagnosed leak.
Description of Work: Leaking toilet. Plumber couldn't find source of leak and it didn't leak while he was on premise. He didn't know why it leaked so he pulled toilet to check wax ring. Ring in tact. He found a small crack in tank; he concluded tank must be leaking when used. Ordered new toilet.

D & F responded quickly and kindly. The serviceman was kind and informative, and was able to complete the job in one afternoon. I am very pleased with the results. My only complaint is that the bill was based on an oral agreement, when the appointment was set up. I would have preferred a set price, that was established at the start.

The plumber who worked on the house previously (to cap off a gas fireplace line) came out and checked the grill gas line, found the hose blocked and not the gas line, then proceeded to repair the water pipe, pointing out there were two breaks, not just one. He was quick and efficient and friendly as always. D & F Plumbing has been great so far!

I feel like I was ripped off because their customer service was very poor. I think that it was way too expensive considering that I had to buy the part and the cost is only for labor. It was very difficult to communicate with this company. They were late and I feel they charged me for more time than they should have.

All said and done the work that was completed was fairly well done. However they sent a guy that was not very knowledgeable to do the job. Three quarters of the way into the job he stopped and said it was a special installation for an air switch disposal and he couldn't do it. So not only was the job not finished, it also took him two hours to fix a leak in piping that he installed. I think they should be more selective with their employees.
Description of Work: D & F Plumbing modified the plumbing for a new dishwasher and disposal in the kitchen. The cost was $150.00 for the visit and $100.00 per hour.

I called on Thursday and Ron came out on Friday morning, about 1/2 hour prior to scheduled appointment (after calling first). He went right to work and diagnosed the problem and repaired it. There are other problems in our plumbing in that bathroom in our house built in 1974. He outlined the things needing to be fixed for us and suggested the type of contractor we would need.
Description of Work: Repaired a broken drain pipe under the house and checked other problems existing in the bathroom plumbing system under the house. Made recommendations as to other needed work which would require another contractor.

I was happy because I'm trying to sell my home. They were prompt, very professional, very polite. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I thought I had a broken drain pipe underneath my manufactured house. When the tech came out I explained what I was hearing in the bathroom when the water was draining. The tech went underneath the house and said that he didn't see any broken drains or pipes. So then he came up and ran the water in the tub and sink and went back underneath the house to see, as the water was running, if he could see any leaks, which he didn't.

The company responded very quickly (next day) when the best I could get from the highest rated plumbing company was a 3 week wait. All requested problems were addressed and when it was determined that a new water heater was needed, it was done the next morning. I was totally satisfied until I waited the suggested time to use the hot water and found that a number of my hot water lines were now blocked. I called the plumber and was told to unhook all of my hot water lines and drain them into a bucket. When I asked if this was not something they should have checked, I was told that I would have to pay for another visit if they came out to address the problem. I had even tipped $20 for taking an old style (full tank) toilet away and paid a high price for the water heater, and now I was expected to pay for another visit to fix a problem that I believe they should have checked for before they left. With a friends help I was able to fix the lines the next day.
Description of Work: First request was to fix leaking faucets, repair a drain stop, and investigate why there was a reduction in hot water from the hot water heater. The secondary request was to replace the hot water heater.

The job and the interactions were all very straightforward. I got my questions answered and a got a time (day after next) and a quote on the phone, and that was the final price I paid. The plumber arrived on time, explained the job and answered questions, explained that he needed to reduce the power requirements of the heater because of the house wiring, and explained to me repairs and improvements that should be done in the house wiring in the future.
Description of Work: The old water heater was leaking. It was removed and replaced with a new one, strapped to the wall.

Was very punctual and was able to get me in quick. Had do additional work once he got here. They were able to deliver all equipment needed at a charge that was needed and done quickly. The repairman was courteous and worked non stop and answered all my questions. His shop Vac had wasn't working which I did not know about till he was done. Really left a huge mess in all rooms with dust and sawdust went everywhere it took hours for me to clean up. He should have asked for cleaning equipment to be brought or asked to use mine. Cutting was involved and at their prices more attention should have been given to covering things before cutting. Fine dust everywhere. Did not install the garbage disposal correctly so the dishwasher did not work. Discovered the next day and they did send someone out the same day I brought to their attention. VERY EXPENSIVE, should have asked prices first so my fault.
Description of Work: Provide and install new garbage disposal, kitchen stainless steel sink, tub valve & faucet set, faucet set for mud room. Had to cut wall in bedroom to fix bathroom valve and had to cut counter to install sink. Repair hoses from dishwasher to sink so that sink and dishwasher not backup. Install new shower and handheld shower assembly in other shower (I provided) and mount to wall.

Found water on floor around my water heater. Called D & F. Randy counseled me on the phone and helped me realize that (hopefully) the water was simply from the water heater relieving pressure out the T&P valve. I could have spent over $100 on having someone come out to my house and tell me that, but I (hopefully) saved dough on talking to D&F first.

Fairly satisfied. They were able to come out two days after the initial call and arrived ten minutes early. The T and P valve was not working properly and the water heater was releasing water continuously. He tried replacing the T and P but still found increasing pressure so he recommended I install an expansion tank to solve this problem. Since the water heater was 12 years old, I decided to replace the whole darn thing and had an expansion tank installed as well. He also strapped in the new tank per earthquake standards. This took four and a half hours to complete and he did a nice job of cleaning up. I was surprised at the high cost and wonder how much I was charged while he waited for the water heater to be delivered. Of course, he prepped the area while waiting but $476 for labor costs seems a bit excessive. I might hire them again but would get a couple of other estimates first.

We had several different bids and only DeTemple came in as low as D&F and seemed equally competent. We really felt best about the D&F prognosis and chose them. They were able to do it right away and took less than one day to complete. They did a great job. Very friendly and helpful. The only complaint is that they left our basement carpet runner dirty with their boots. Small price to pay. Bonus: We have much better water flow within our old home now.
Description of Work: We had an old galvanized water supply line that developed a leak under our paved driveway. The water meter was also under the paved driveway so D&F used a special tool to bore a new angled line from the meter to the house without cutting in to the pavement.

Our appointment was originally made for two days out thinking that we had a water heater problem. That was before we discovered that the sound of running water was under the house and not the heater intake pipes. We shut off the water and waited for our appointment. The initial contact was pleasant and he gave me two choices for the appointment. When the plumber actually arrived, he was a few minutes late and we told him that the job had changed to a leak. He took a look under the house and told us that we needed to pump out "a ton of water." We started the pump and he then decided that since it was pumping out so fast, he would give it a try that day. (It was 2PM at that point.) When he had put on his boots and went down into the crawlspace it was evident that it would be hazardous due to the remaining water. So he came back the next day and went down and finished the job. He was very helpful and had several suggestions about repairing the ductwork and insulation.
Description of Work: The plumber located and repaired a leaking pipe in the crawlspace. He took out the piece that was ruptured and replaced it. It was an intake pipe of copper. We obviously can not see what he physically did as it is under the middle part of the house, but he gave us the damaged piece to show what happened.

Toilet seal repaired fine. I wrote complaining I was charged for ten minute write up for ten dollars of material plus time calculation and for five minutes describing the simple act of turning up thermostat on the water heater they'd put in a few months earlier. This ran seven minutes into the next hour and an additional $25 charge. I was very, very, very unhappy to be charged $25 for writing up $10 of material, plus there was a ten dollar fuel charge not mentioned when I called to ask prices in first place. I asked ''If I'm not getting enough hot water, should I just try turning up the thermostat''. The repairman said: ''Let's take a look.'' It really burns me to pay $25 to have a question answered in unnecessary long form and to have something written up at $100/hr. I asked for a refund of the last quarter hour since the seven minutes into the next quarter had come out of the write-up and the pointless inspection of my water heater. My request was denied.

Jesse was very polite and courteous and informative. He arrived at 8:15 (scheduled time was 8:00). He willingly wore shoe covers since I just had the floors re-done. He gave me a lot of information which was really expensive at $24.50/quarter hour. I think he did a thorough and precise job but I felt it was very expensive. I don't know what the $10.00 fuel charge was.
Description of Work: Replaced the spray hose in the kitchen sink. Stopped dripping faucets in kitchen and bathroom by "tightening things". Found what and why the water heater was leaking and replaced some valves and tubing and installed an expansion tank. Flushed out all the faucets. Gave advice about installing a new toilet.

Overall, the work was done fine. My major problem with this job and this company was their communication and their billing. I called them to repair a leak that I expected to just be a service call. I met the plumber at my house, let him in and then left for work. He looked at the issue and determined that the right course of action was to replace the old plumbing pipes with new PVC. I was NEVER notified that this was the course of action. I just got a bill a couple of weeks later for nearly $700. With minimal explanation of the work done. D&F has a policy that the bill has to be paid in full within 5 days from when it was sent. Not 5 business days. Which makes things difficult when the bill was received on a Friday. I called and left a very angry complaint. I got one call back promising to follow up with the specific plumber on the job. But never heard back. Even though it was good to get the work done, I will NEVER use this company again because of their customer service.

With the plumber still there, we called the office and I had a very unsatisfying discussion with the man who answered (unk name) who tried to tell me I had no right to expect the job to have lasted that long (3 months is too long?) and I "should" have called them right away when it didn't work (instead of giving their work the benefit of the doubt). He was extremely disrespectful to me, put me on hold when I disagreed, then transfered me to Sandy, who basically told me the same story. I got little satisfaction until they discovered the new plumber had charged me for 2 hours when he had worked only 1 hour. Then, they decreased my bill to $132 via the plumber and never got back on the phone with me. I am extremely dissatisfied with their lack of a customer service orientation and will never use them again.
Description of Work: In June I had their plumber in to fix the slow leak out of the tank. He replaced the flapper only. The tank continued to leak water into the bowl, but we just kept jiggling it in hopes it would stop leaking. I finally called them back last week and they came yesterday. Turns out the flapper was the wrong fit for the mechanism, so he had to replace the entire mechanism. That was fine, but they wanted to charge me $276 for the new job with no credit toward the bad job they did the first time.
