 + -1 moreIt went well. A service person, Joe Hammer, appeared on time and was very competent as well as friendly. All my questions were answered. A new disposer was installed. Joe taught me how to unjam it if needed as well as placing a fan to dry the cabinet.
Description of Work: I finally observed some water under the kitchen sink. Cleared the area. Did some testing and discovered the garbage disposal was squirting out water during its cycle. I called for help.

Patrick took the time to carefully walk us through the work and options, and the work looks great. Our utility sink is now in the right location in the basement (against the wall rather than in the middle of the room), we have a kitchen sink that looks good and is easy to turn on and off, and our bathtub has a functional drain and the correct cold/hot handles. In advance of the work, Aaron explained in detail what would be done, as well as pointing out other areas of plumbing concern in the basement. On the day of the work, Aaron and Grant worked diligently from the basement corner, through the crawl space, and up to the roof. The Liberty Automatic Drain Pump is state of the art and all the new pipes look great. It is a huge improvement over the old sump-pump-in-a-trash-barrel set-up which was there before. Thanks!

 + -1 moreThe work was great. My concern was price and the honesty. I asked did they use unit pricing, because I knew there was a good chance this was an extremely simple job. The dispatcher would not say. My bad for moving ahead anyway i guess, but it ended up being over $300 for a job that took less than 1 hour from arrival to departure. And, if they weren’t waiving the travel fee for COVID It would have been over $425.

 + -1 moreThough it was easy to schedule and I got a quick response, I felt ripped off in the end. The plumber arrived and agreed there was a leak. After talking to his boss, D and F refused to do a step-by-step troubleshoot (ie: start with an inexpensive flapper and go on from there). Instead they would only fix the leak if I agreed to pay $1000 for them to completely rebuild the guts of my toilet! They said that was the only way to guarantee their work. I paid the $119 service call fee and am back to square one. Now I'm looking for a small, independent plumber who will do the job for a fair price.
Description of Work: My toilet was leaking. It is an older model for which parts are not readily available. I'm not handy this way, so I called a plumber hoping to stop the leak.

My gripe is the price. $370 to replace a faucet with one that I provided, and that price was with their 10% discount. As the old faucet was leaking like a hose we did not have the time to shop around so I bit the bullet and paid It. I wonder how much repeat business they get. I know I can’t afford to use them in future.

 + -1 moreWe have worked with D and F for over 12 years. They did a complete overhaul of the plumbing in our last house (1907 Portland 4-square), repiping everything out to the street. We were very happy with their work so we had them bid this job in the house we moved to, a 1950 mid-century modern. Rob came and did the work and it was great. We had planned to do the finish work and hook-up ourselves, but decided not to. When it was time to finalize the bathroom and hook everything up, the bid was incredibly high. Over $1700 to seat a toilet, install the sink faucet, and trouble shoot and repair a small shower issue. That was out of the question for us so we went with another plumber. Apparently the company has a new owner and the fee scale has increased considerably. Because of that, though they do great work, we will not be hiring them again.
Description of Work: We remodeled a bathroom and added a laundry room in a new addition we had built. D and F installed the lines and did the finish work for some of it.

 + -1 moreThe upstairs sink was dealt with first. The pop-up stopper wasn't rising high enough. The plumber found a small hair ball in the line and removed it. He possibly did not raise the pop-up stopper at all. He implied that he did. However, the sink still drains very slowly. I thought it was better, but now I think that was the power of his suggestion plus the removal of the small hair ball. After using the sink for 24 hours, I know that it drains only minimally better, and that the pop-up stopper problem has not been fixed. The downstairs bathroom sink needed a replacement of the cold water stop. He suggested replacing both stops, which we agreed to. This was a good suggestion, as the fixtures were very old. The downstairs bathroom sink works fine now, no leaks. The total price was staggering to us -- $679 and he was here for an hour. We were not left with a receipt. I did not notice this until today.
Description of Work: The upstairs bathroom sink wasn't draining properly and one of the valves in a downstairs sink cold water valve leaked.

 + -1 moreExcellent! On the advice of a plumbing supply house, I bought a replacement kitchen faucet which they said I could "easily install." Proved to be beyond me due to lack of right tools and inflexibility of aging! Angie's list plumber I had previously used and like refused the job because I didn't buy the faucet through him! So I tried D&F who had replaced a water heater for us about 10 yrs ago on a friend's recommendation. They scheduled the job within 2 days of my call, plumber arrived on time and was fast, efficient and professional. Very tidy too. He essentially took care of 3 household plumbing repairs that had been needing doing for some time, so the cost was significant but considering the service we were quite satisfied with the work and would use D&F again or recommend them.
Description of Work: Remove broken kitchen faucet, install new repl.; remove old, broken Insta-Hot device and plug counter hole; repair old, "running" toilet by completely replacing corroded in-tank equipment.

Scott, the plumber working on site, was a clear communicator who quickly assessed the problem and provided me a reasonable quote on an emergency replacement of a leaky 100-year old cast-iron stack from main into basement floor. Also added in new supply lines to toilet and sink. They completed all of the work in the time estimated and left the home clean. Demo work on interior wall left virtually no mess or dust behind.

Jesse came To my house on time for the appointment time and was very helpful in letting me know what was needed and gave me an estimate for the total coast for the job. It took longer than I wanted for the next appointment but replacement parts needed to be ordered. Stefan arrived on time for the appointment time and was very friendly. He didn't have the actual ordered parts for the shower valve that I was waiting for but was able to work on the other two jobs while someone brought over the missing parts. The entire job was finished on time and under the estimated cost. I would highly recommend D & R Plumbing to anyone needing plumbing needs. Plus how can you resist that commercial with one of the co owners, she's absolutely fabulous.

 + 0 moreSandy never resolved the situation. She didn't bother to follow up. We paid our bill regardless. We were honest and tried to deal with her directly. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau documenting every invoice charge and D&F's DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICES. BBB documented that Sandy never returned their calls either. Sandy chose to hide and NOT resolve the issue. Shame on her.
Description of Work: We have had difficulties with a water heater pilot light repeatedly going out at our rental property (a water heater we bought from D & F plumbing). We called Sandy at D&F plumbing 4 times over the last several years as we realized we were charged more than $2000.00 to continually replace parts within the water heater, never fixing the initial problem nor replacing the bad water heater. We talked directly with Sandy to convey our concerns that D&F was being dishonest in charging to replace parts instead of replacing the water heater. Sandy said she'd get back to us and NEVER did. She did not return our calls after that. We had Lovett plumbing come in and for $700 they replaced the water heater and told us the real problem was the design of the water heater, not the internal parts D&F kept charging us to replace.

 + -1 moreReally bad experiences with D&F Plumbing. First, they overtightened and broke the knob on the backflow preventor for our sprinkler system and the backflow had to be replaced ($500). Then, they installed a sump pump in our crawl space and we learned afterwards that not only did they overcharge us ($3000 for a $1000 project), they used a very small 13 gallon basin that is woefully undersized.

 + -1 moreI can't rate the price as I have nothing to compare it to. However, I have no problem with the prices we paid. Toilet repairs were done and the plumber determined that our water heater was fine. They accommodated our schedule perfectly, so we were only without a kitchen sink/water for less then two days. The plumber was excellent and really nice. The invoices had coupons on the back that could be applied to the next job they do for you. I overlooked the offer and called to see if anything could be done. I had a refund check within 3 days! We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We thought we might need a new water heater and had two leaky toilets. Also our sink, faucet and garbage disposal needed to be removed in a timely manner so we could have new kitchen countertops installed. Then a new sink, faucet and garbage disposal needed to be installed.

 + -1 moreThe plumber from D & F quoted $302 to replace this short copper line, which seems plainly like price gouging to me. Of course, you are on the hook for the $99 service fee once they come out, so it is hard to turn down the service, even if over-priced. In this case, though, the price seemed so egregious that I decided to pay the service fee and turn down the work. It just didn't seem right to reward this type of business practice.
Description of Work: A short copper line leading to a utility sink in our garage developed a leak, probably due to us not turning off the water to that line for the winter. The sink was newly installed a couple of years ago, so the sink and all of the plumbing connected to it are quite new. The copper line that had a leak was around six inches long. It connects to the sink, which is easy to pull away from the wall, so the copper line is entirely easy to access to replace or repair.
