Service went fine the first 2-3 visits; we used their service for over a year. Responsive emails where only telling us our bill amount and not any response to specific requests. No phone calls. We asked them to trim the wisteria taking over our power lines for almost a year and they didn't do it. They would just send their team out to mow the lawn and charge us $150 every time. Sometimes they finished only half the lawn and didn't come back until the next day.

Even though I provided them contact with the size of my laurel bush/hedge that needed trimming they did not bring a large enough ladder - so they had to come back a second time, which was a little frustrating as it meant I had to take 2 days off from work to meet with them.  Other than that they did a nice job.

When Jake started he was really nice and seemed to know his work.  His prices were high but I thought I would be getting a full service company.  When he put in the new lawn I am not sure what went wrong but it simply did not grow.  It was during the rain so it was not lack of water.  It was that way for a month then it needed to be reseeded.  That month there was no lawn to cut Jake still billed me for work never done.  First red flag.  The reseeding was sort of growing but my lawn looks worse then it did before it was redone.  I am very unhappy about that.  The schedule got worse and I finally quit his services.  I now have a new lawn care service that comes every week and charges less.  BUT, I still get outrageous billings from A1 lawn care for work not done.  The price he is now charging is $150 a mow + tax.  What there is of my lawn area take 10 minutes to mow.  Not sure where the heck this guy is coming from but I would not recommend him to any one.  He was such a nice guy too.

It was great!  They were very thorough, hauled away all of the subsequent debris, and acted in a professional and courteous manner while at the house.

He did a very good work. He overperformed. He did more than I thought, he did a few extra things. The price is very good. I called at a very busy time of the year and wasn't able to get there when I wanted but he did show up and go out of his way.

I had called A-1 lawn Service on mon. 6/13 for an estimate on lawn service. Jake came out and we walked around the house and discussed what I wanted done and what he could do/ I needed some bushes trimmed way back and tall weeds along side the house gotten rid of as well as a holly bush that was way too overgrown for me to tackle. I also wanted the lawn manicured and edged, just to look decent and kept up. He gave me a quote of $100 and then $50 a visit/ I thought great, I had the extra money and I wanted to suprise my elderly mother who had been complaining about the yard for sometime now/ So that same day he sprayed the yard to kill all the weeds and said he would come back on wed to start the work and we agreed I would pay him the $100 then. Later that night I emailed him telling him I was excited and eager to start working with him and he replied as well. Wed came and went so I called onTthurs(6/16) he apologized for not being able to make it and said he would try to come out that day or possibly Fri/ I also texted him from my cell so he would have the number incase I was out running errands when he showed up. So at this point he has my home phone, email AND cell phone number to contact me/ there should be no reason for lack of communication, but there was/ Fri came and went as well did the weekend so on Mon(6/20) I call to voice my disappointment for the no show or even a phone call to say hey I won't make it out today, something. Even with that phone call I heard nothing/ so I called another service to come and give me an estimate/ as I'm waiting for the new guy to come out jake pulls up and gets out his truck with another guy and proceeds to start doing the lawn. This was at 5:30 pm/ no phone call or anything. This made for an awkward situation because the new guy showed up and just kept driving and called me to see what was happening and I explained the situation with which he was very understanding and said if I needed anything in the future to give him a call. Jake and his partner stayed for hours and then said he would caom back again on thurs(6/23) to finish the weeding and edge the lawn/ he said he didn't weed down the side of the driveway cause he was leary of the cars being there and didn't want to cause any damage which was understandable but I was there and he could have asked me to move the car and I would have. But I thought fine whatever he'll get it on thurs gave him $100 bucks and off he went. Granted he did alot of work but I felt he could have done more because he killed most of it off (the weeds). I also asked if he could come early so I could pay him as he works because I work nights, he said he would try cause he had some other jobs/ so fine just call. Thurs(23rd) came and went no call or text or email/ so by Mon(27) having no heard from him I called his number and left a message saying his services were no longer needed. I even emailed to be double sure he got the message. So now I have a half done yard/ I do appreciate what was done but it just wasn't what we discussed and more than that I didn't like the lack of communication/ when you say you're goinna show up do it or call and explain why you can't and because of my work schedule I have things I could've done rather than sit and wait for him to show up. So I was overall really upset and disappointed.

Jake, the owner, came and gave an estimate for the work. He inspected the huge mess in the back yard and approached it very matter-of-factly. A couple of other people had told me how awful the overgrowth was and that it could break their machines. Not Jake. He looked and gave me a very reasonable price. He returned a week later and did the work. He was meticulous, did more than originally asked, and completed the job in a timely manner and with good humor. I would highly recommend him and his work to anyone. I will be hiring him to do regular lawn and garden service for me. An important point for me was that I felt comfortable and safe with Jake and with his crew.

I want to comment on another reviewer's comment about his dog. I totally agree with her that Manno is a great, calm and quietly friendly dog. He interacted unexpectedly with my little dog who slipped out of the house into the yard, and Manno was very patient and sweet with him. The only reason Jake's dog could be a problem is if you have concerns about dogs in general.

Jake, the owner, is an incredibly nice guy and is very reasonable about his pricing scale. Because of the frequency for wet weather here in Tacoma (and indeed the PNW), we had to allow for some flexibility with his service schedule because you can't mow when it rains. But Jake was at our house the first available dry day, and he and his partner did a terrific job cleaning up our jungle of a back yard and tidying our front yard. We've decided to hire him for bi-weekly service and can't wait!! NOTE TO PET OWNERS: Jake does bring his very, VERY well-behaved dog with him to jobs. His dog generally lounges in the truck, or wanders around the truck and trailer. Only once did his dog follow Jake into our back yard while he was working. We also have a dog, but she's nervous around strangers, so we made sure she was inside before Jake arrived. I cannot stress enough how well-behaved Jake's dog is, but if this is a concern for you, you should probably let him know before scheduling service.

They made my lawn look nice. They did a good job. They got the job done.

They are very thorough and good. They are very reasonably priced.
