They were very professional and hardworking. They were very polite and respectful. Overall it was a positive experience. It was a decent cost for the amount of work and the quality. They listened very attentively and did what they needed to do when we had some requests.
Description of Work: Jack’s Ever Green Painting finished painting the whole house on Monday. They cleaned and filled holes and then painted the exterior of the house.

When they finished they cleaned up and when I came to inspect it I think there was one piece of tape left on the door bell or something that they forgot to take off. It was a pretty clean sight otherwise when they finished. They were fine and did a fine job. They were available anytime I needed to call them. They answered their calls and did everything okay. I was happy with them and didn?t see anything wrong. We had no problems with them. They did what they said they would. They were on time and there were no surprises. They matched the colors. I made them match the colors by taking samples to the paint store. They matched it perfectly and did a great job on the front door. The price was comparable pretty much with a couple of other companies. Actually I didn?t get a chance to get any other quote. They charged me for everything, but got me a little special price for cleaning up the gutters and pressure washing the driveway. It was a little cheaper than if I had to hire someone else to do it. They are a local company and appreciated the chance to get the work. They have offices in Redmond that try to support our local companies. I didn?t see any mistakes in their work. They always called me back when they had a chance. They had a truck, ladders, and sprayers. I don?t see if anybody could have done any different. I have asked them for a quote for another job that I plan on doing for another house.
Description of Work: I used Jack's Ever Green Painting to paint the exterior of my house. They cleaned out my gutters that were full. They pressure-washed the house and pressure washed the walkway and driveway. They also painted the exterior of the house including the front door and the rear door. They pressure-washed my deck and stained it as well.

This is the second time we use their services, and both times we were very pleased with the results. Last time they painted the exterior of our house, and this time they painted the interior of our garage (we decided to paint before installing new cabinets). Jack came and gave me an estimate for the work. Last time I had a few companies bid on the paint job and he bid the lowest. This time I had a couple of companies bid, and the price Jack quoted was higher than the other one. Because I had such a good experience working with Jack before, I told him that if he matched the other bid I would much rather work with him. I was glad that he matched it. Jack is such an approachable person that it's a joy to interact with him. That really makes a difference, and it's a big part of the reason why we'll continue hiring him to do work for us. The two painters who did the job were very thorough. The garage walls were a bit beat up and had lots of holes from hanging all sorts of stuff, but they were able to patch everything really nicely. They also carefully brushed some pipes that were exposed - they look so much better now. We weren't sure what they were going to do around the water heather and furnace, but they painted around them so well that it almost seems like they were removed and reinstalled to paint. So now our garage looks as good or better than the interior of our house :) We're very happy with their work and highly recommend them.

We have been very pleased with the results of the work provided by Jack's Ever Green Painting. Our house (dating from late 1940s) offered up some challenges for Jack's crew, mostly involving extensive prep work. The attention to detail and clean up was excellent. We were concerned however, following the completion of the job, that there was some bubbling occurring in several places. I spoke directly with Jack, and he agreed that such a result was unacceptable. He personally has come out on several occasions to inspect and take the necessary measures to correct the bubbling problem. Jack felt that the problem was caused by multiple underlying layers of paint going back several decades. While we will be watching for any recurrences, Jack has assured us that the work is guaranteed for one year and we have no reason to doubt that he will respond to any requests we may make to fix ongoing problems. Jack has been very pleasant, professional and knowledgeable, and we would recommend consideration of his company for those needing house painting.

Jack was very knowledge, responsive, and professional. The crew replaced some rotted siding, but repaired and salvaged as much as possible, saving me a lot of money. Most other companies weren't willing to do so; they just wanted to replace all of it, & many painting companies weren't willing to do the siding at all. The overall paint job was good. Per my request, they used 3 different colors & did good detail work. They were patient with me as I changed my mind on colors several times, repainting sections. They also did some extra, creative work, such as removing birds nests and putting wire mesh in my eaves, so that the birds wouldn't nest there in the future. The only issue that I had was that one of the painters didn't show up for 3 days and they didn't call me to let me know, so the project didn't end when they told me that it would. Also, they painted several of my windows shut & got some paint on a window, but Jack was very responsive and fixed the issue.

Response from Jack's Ever Green Painting
When I saw the Member's house I informed him that it was in such good shape he didn't need a paint job for at least 4 to 5 years. I told him to call me then. I actually did not give him a bid at this time, It was his landscaper that told him the house needed painting.

I highly recommend this company, because they made the job go smoothly from start to finish in spite of June's many rainy days. Jack Fecker came out and gave a detailed bid for the painting including related repairs, and I nearly hired Jack's Evergreen Painting on the spot because of his 20 years' experience and the competence he exhibited, and because the bid was a fair one. I did get several other bids, but his was the best because all the work required could be done by employees of Jack's Evergreen. Communication with Jack and his partner Nick, was excellent. Nick was project manager for our job, and let me know when painting would be done and also when they were not coming because of the weather. Although the job was expected to take up to two weeks, it took longer due to the rain and working around our vacation schedule. Final touchups were completed after Jack and I surveyed the job - Jack found spots that I had not even noticed. His standards are high. I considered this paint job a challenge because our house is on a steep hillside, and 40-foot ladders (or higher) were only way to reach three sides of the structure and two big decks. The crew was up and down ladders throughout the project, each handling his own part of the job. They worked well together, were extremely competent and cheerful, and cleaned the site every day. I needed help cutting back branches of a neighbor's pine tree that were encroaching upon our house and roof. Again, a ladder was put up and a cheerful painter became a pruner for a few minutes. (I cleaned up the branches.) An unreachable downspout had becomed clogged, and Nick climbed a ladder and removed the debris. Our house looks like new and we are so pleased with the work. We totally recommend Jack's Evergreen Painting. Jack and Nick and all the crew are true professionals and great to work with.
Description of Work: Exterior of house was prepped and painted. Deck was repaired, prepped to remove layers of peeling and weathered paint. Rotted wood around a window and deck were replaced (matching the original), prepped and painted. Old shutters removed and replaced.

Some mis communication. Not having the right equipement. needed more people on the job. Nick the head painter took on too much by himself. they seemed surprised by my request that they take off the new downspots..I had it in writing. Jack says they usually paintover them or wrap them. But how do you fix the holes from the old down spouts???? for a professional painting crew, they seem to lack the basic common sense.. Job came out good, but could have gone a lot smoother. they did not sand a lot of the caulking which I felt was needed. Some paint overspray on roof gables they did not clean up etc... I hired Jacks evergreen painting based on the reviews from Angies List?? Would not hire again...

There are just some customers you should walk away from. From the first day when we were told we were not professional I should have walked. Nothing seemed to make this client happy. We ended up doing a great job although the client didn't think so. He was looking over our shoulder the entire job. Whenever that happens the work never goes smoothly. This has promted me to write an article and submiit it to the Angie's magazine before the fall. "What happens to the job when the workers are not trusted"

Prior to the job Jack made himself available to give advise on paint type and color combinations. The workers arrived on time and were easy to work with. The foreman took care to review the work at each stage. After the painting was finished, he went around the house with us to make sure any touch up areas were taken care of. Above the call of duty, Jack's workers actually disposed of old paint we had laying around our garage, saving us a trip to the transfer station. We are very happy with the results of the painting by Jack's Ever Green.

If you want a decent paint job at a reasonable price you might want to hire this company. But if you have an older house and/or children, this company is definitely not the one to use. Our 1930's house apparently has some lead-based paint on the exterior. From watching this company work you'd think they never heard that lead was toxic. They use grinders without any personal protection for themselves and without any sort of vacuum connections or filters. Just huge billows of lead paint dust engulfing the property. After seeing this we asked them to lay down tarps over the gardens and decks and be extra careful to pick up all chips and dust. Not only did they fail to do so, the "foreman" Nick -- who rarely came to check on the job -- accused us on the telephone of calling his father Virgil (the poor guy grinding away for hours on end with no protection whatsoever) a liar. After being sent here by the owner Jack, Nick saw that paint chips and dust were all over the property, and that his guys had actually dumped a whole mess of them into the city green space behind our house. This same type of thing played out on no less than 3 separate occasions during the job. Our concern was for the safety of our young children. Ultimately we just wanted to say goodbye to this company and just 3 days ago paid a landscaper $800 to remove the upper 3 inches of dirt in all the gardens around our house and under our deck, and lay down 3 inches of fresh dirt. We also paid a company to discard all the lumber and gardening materials we had around the garage because it was all covered in lead-based paint dust, at a cost to us of $275. And we stayed in a hotel for 4 nights while they did their prep work and we tried to figure out what we were going to do to protect the kids, for $800. Add it up and you get to at least $1800 in additional expenses we never expected to incur for this job because the company was careless with the removal of lead-based paint. The paint job is good. The bid was the 2nd lowest of 4 that we got. We went with this company b/c of the excellent writeups on Angie's List and the owner, Jack Fecker, seemed like an honest, straightforward person. But they caused us a tremendous amount of stress and grief. Furthermore, they broke at least 5 laws according to the King County Health Department official who came to our house to evaluate the safety of it for our children. He was appalled. At the gutters full of lead-based paint chips and dust. The roofs covered in paint dust and chips. The paint dust and chips in the gardens and under the deck. The unprotected workers. The dumping of paint chips and debris into the ravine behind the house, etc. He and our friends and neighbors couldn't understand why we wouldn't take legal action against this company. We didn't because b/c we just wanted the job done so we could get the place cleaned up and get on with our lives. To be fair, after seemingly realizing how distraught we were, and after confirming the presence of lead in the paint chips, the company worked hard to try to clean up the mess. But the damage had been done to a large extent. Dry grinding with no filters or vacuums is apparently a really bad thing to do when you know you are dealing with lead-based paint. And the plumes of dust and chips of all sizes were so thick in places on and around the house, and so widespread, there was really no way to get it cleaned up adequately. Having them wash the roofs and gutters at our request certainly helped the situation. But there are still plenty of chips and dust up there, and on the garage roof. As well as on the side of the garage. And we are still concerned about the safety of our kids playing back there. Which is a bummer, to say the least. The best thing about this company is their employee Mark, who did much of the painting. He is a really nice guy, delightful to have around, super responsive, and a good painter. The worst thing is the unprofessional attitude of the other employees, like spitting constantly on our property, calling the customer a liar, dumping toxic paint debris in the ravine behind the house, expecting us to run around town looking for and buying hardware supplies (e.g., gutter brackets, louver vents) to replace items the painters had broken, etc. There are enough good painting companies on Angie's List that you probably don't need to take a risk with this company. But if you do, and you have an older home, just don't let the kids out to play.

Response from Jack's Ever Green Painting
Although we did make some mistakes on this job, I personally believe the owners of the home should take accountability for a number of erroneous statements made about our work. Specifically:#1: We did not dump any dust or chips in the green space behind the home. #2: We removed one inch of garden soil around the house and placed it in sealed bags. #3: We were informed by the lady of the home long before we started the project the that the homeowners had already decided to stay in a hotel while we would be performing the work. It seems that even though they had made that decision before we started the job, they now want to receive compensation for same. #4: As the owner of this company, I am regularly on each job site at least once/every day. I had initially scheduled this job for late August so I could be on this job site after my trip to visit grandchildren in Texas during the last week of June and first week of July. It was the specific request of the homeowner to move the start time of the job to early July, and I had informed them that I would be out of town. #5: We cleaned the entire roof...not just the south and east sides where the dust and paint chips were, but the entire roof. It was cleaned 3 times by our crew: swept once, vacuumed, and finally, scrubbed with soap and water. #6: The gutters were all cleaned out by our crew. #7: As per the later expectations of the client, this job should have been bid at $12,000. As it was, we went over the original bid to accommodate the client by 60 hours.

Everyone did excellent work. Jack made the estimate (he got within ONE HOUR of the actual time required. Nick did the pressure washing. Mark and his crew Virgil and Jason did the prep, painting and cleanup. They were all fast, precise and efficient. Our 41-year-old house looks new.

I couldn't be happier with Jack's Evergreen painting. I interviewed the top five painting companies listed in Angies list for my area, and Jack gave me the lowest bid. He quoted around $3000 to paint the exterior of my house, and the highest bid was around $4700, so the difference was significant. Since I'm picky with quality, I don't usually choose the lowest bidder, but this time it was different. Jack came across as a very genuine person in our first meeting, and all the details of the job were equivalent or superior when compared to the other bidders (quality of the paint, number of coats, length of the job). Thankfully my first impression was exactly right. Jack worked out all the choices with us ahead of time to the finest detail and followed through without any mistakes. The two painters that did the job were extremely detail oriented and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. I was surprised and impressed that Jack himself did some of the painting too. The work started in the day Jack mentioned to me the first time I met him, and took 4 days, which is how much he estimated. It was very easy to communicate with Jack before and during the project. I wouldn't hesitate in hiring Jack again for a painting job, and have already recommended him to my friends.

They did an excellent job. The firm's employees were very friendly, proffessional, knew their jobs and what's more important their work was supurb. They didn't waste their time or mine. They showed up when they were supposed to and the job was completed on time and on budget. The house looks great inside and out. I have recommended them to a friend who needed their house painted. Jack came out to do the estimate and he was personable and efficient. After I had their bid (and a few others) I went with Jack's based on price, profesionalism and their Angie's list rating. The onsite manager was Nick and if you work with him you'll discover that he has a certain confidence in his work, and it comes from his own dedication to make the customer happy. When I had questions he gave me answers, when we had unforseen changes he gave me solutions. We're very happy with the results.

Jack and I had a very pleasant conversation about the services he could provide when he came out to provide the estimate. You could tell that he had been doing this for many years. He was prompt to arrive at our first meeting and got back to me in a timely fashion when we were trying to arrange a start date. The staff who worked for Jack were very thorough yet quick in completing the job. I was out of town for part of the time, so Jack and I negotiated that I would hold a partial payment until I was able to fully inspect the job upon my return, even though it was nearly 2 weeks after they finished. I would recommend their services.

Very professional and courteous crew. There were only a couple of areas of concern with the job. I requested a detail piece of work that was not completed to specification. I made this request via email and was not present to make the request in person, so I do not know if the request was received. Painting noted on some window metal frames that was not removed after taping removed. Would use their services again and invest more of my time being available to ask for specifics.

Pressure washed, prepped, and painted the exterior of my home and painted the back deck. Afterward, the house paint needed to be retouched and fixed in some areas. New siding was installed just prior to the paint job, but they did not caulk the nail heads, which I feel should have been part of the prep work. Nick and Jack do a great job, their paint bid was cheap, the service was fast. Jack and Nick suggested several additional handyman-type chores, which we were happy to have fixed. Beware these "extras" because not only do they add up fast, but I was disappointed in the quality of these side repairs. I suspect this is because the work was done by auxillary workers and not one of the principals. The deck stain was not completed because rain interfered with the drying time. I had to request that they come back for this, as well as repaint the doors and touch-up small drips and things. Afterward, we complained about the new deck paint-and-sealant product used. The deck looks painted (when we wanted it stained), and it looks splotchy. Unfortunately, complaints were not well-received by Jack or Nick. We were told that we're too picky. Sorry, but after dropping $6,500, I think I have the right to be picky.
Description of Work: Pressure wash, tape, and other prep work, along with painting the exterior of my home. Pressure washed and rolled paint/stain/sealant (?) on the outside deck. Repaired back step, front and back door weather striping, roof repair (?), and sanded and caulked dog-damaged back door frame.

Response from Jack's Ever Green Painting
The member called us back 2 weeks after they paid us and signed off on the job. We came back 4 times to fix complaints that were unfounded. One time to repaint the exterior doors which were painted satin as agreed upon and were the original sheen. We then did them in Semi-gloss at no extra charge. The insides of the 3 garage doors were painted and sealed with a primer at no extra charge. We did some repair and touch up that was needed on our first call back. We always try to do extra work that the customer does not expect and will come back within a year to fix any work that doesn't hold up. We will not come back again to this customer after coming back 4 times within a month and being insulted and cussed at on our last visit. It is very rare that we encounter such an unhappy customer. Would not have taken the job knowing what we now have experienced. Angie's List customers have been most exceptional. We will now be a little more picky who we want to work with. We go above and beyond to receive the A ratings on our Angie's List reports.

After I called Jack he was out the next day to give me a bid. I received bids from 3 other companies but felt the most comfortable with Jack. His crew was available to start work the next week. The house had quite a few holes in the walls so there was a lot of prep work to be done. The crew listened carefully to what we wanted to have happen. Overall, they did a good job. When I found areas that I wanted fixed they were quick to come out and fix the problem. We had a couple of miscommunication/timing issues but I think had we been able to get all the work done all at once there wouldn't have been any issues. Jack's crew really wants to do a good job for their customers and are very nice to deal with.
Description of Work: Jack's crew painted the interior of a 3,000 square foot home.

All employees I came into contact with were prompt and the job was started a little earlier than I had expected. Nick explained what the painters were planning to do and why, which I appreciated. One painter patiently answered my questions. The painters worked very industriously and they were finished in three half-days (they gave the paint and caulk time to dry between coats). They worked so fast that they had extra time in their quoted bid to perform some extra work. The quality of their work was good, but not perfect. Some caulk and patched areas could look neater, but they are still acceptable. Overall, I am very satisfied with the work and service from this company.
Description of Work: The painters essentially did many small jobs: they touched up peeling, stained paint on the house, sealed cracked caulk, filled and painted the decaying garage door frame, sprayed the gutters off, cleaned the mildewed deck, patched some stucco, and painted wrought iron railings.

In summary, I felt the company did a great job and I would not only use them again, but would recommend them to neighbors and anyone reading this report. First of all, Jack Fecker (the owner) was quick to answer my inquiry and was out to bid my job within a day. He was good to work with and provided a bid that fully described the work that would be done and what I could expect. I got two other bids from companies I had also found on Angies List. I was happy with each of the companies and how they responded but I ended up chosing Jack's Ever Green Painting because I was comfortable with Jack and the fact he was the lowest bid among the three. Although in some cases you might be concerned that the lowest bid may end up with the lowest quality of work, this was not the case. From start to finish, my job took 6 days. The company's crew showed every day and were working by 9:00. As mentioned in the job description, my house required an extensive amount of prep work and I did not feel the company took any shortcuts. The south side of the house, which was in terrible shape, was power washed, scraped and sanded, much of the south side to the bare wood. A few boards were replaced. The house was then primed and painted. The paint job looks great and the crew did a good job cleaning up. On my job, a company co-owner (Nick) was part of the crew. I felt they would do anything to make sure the customer is happy and satisfied. They did everything they had in their bid. The house looks great and I would recommend hiring Jack's Ever Green Painting.
Description of Work: Paint the exterior of a 3000+ sf house. House require extensive prep work which included power washing, scraping, sanding and patching. A few boards of siding were replaced. The house was then primed and painted with three colors. They also put a finish coat on our stained front door. As an extra service, the workers power washed a small sports court and walkway in the back yard.
