We bought new kitchen cabinets and countertops for our kitchen to refresh our kitchen so we could sell our home. We paid $199 for Ikea design service to send someone out to measure our kitchen and go over the design plan. The Kitchen Helpers are who Ikea use for this. The designer came out and was great about measuring everything and going over the plan. We left with an estimate of the purchase price and installation of the cabinets. We did not have an estimate of the countertop and had to drive back to Renton to get that and pay for everything. When we were finalizing our plan at Ikea, we specifically asked about countertop for our breakfast bar and the employee told us that they ordered enough to cover it. The Kitchen Helpers scheduled a date for their project manager to come and look at our home and go over the work. He didn't show up at the appointed time and when we called a half hour after the appointment time, he had forgotten the appointment and showed up within an hour because he had to pick up his girlfriend at the airport the day before and stayed at a hotel. We considered other projects for them to do for us at this time and he said we would get an estimate for it. The estimate for the extra general contract work was more than we could afford, so we pared it down to demoing and removing the existing cabinets and countertops and to put some baseboard along our stairs to make them look finished. This scheduled this to happen over a 2 day period. The 2-man demo crew came and took the counters out quickly but left glued on pressboard to the frame of the countertop. I asked if they would remove it and was told that the counter guys did that. They left all the cabinets on our front porch because the lift on their truck was broken. No big deal as they would come back the next day. They hauled that away but didn't come back for the baseboard on the stairs. They also said they would send someone over to repair the walls behind the cabinets. This didn't happen and when I called, the project manager came over to mud the walls himself. I was appreciative of that. He said that the counter people would remove the glued on pressboard left over from the breakfast bar. The delivery of the cabinets was confirmed and then we got a notice the same day that it was cancelled with no reason (these being through automated message and email, no real person to talk to). After navigating the never ending maze of phone menu options, we were told it couldn't fit on the truck and would need to be rescheduled for later in the week. This was days before the work was to begin. As this was something that someone had to be home for, we couldn't wait and they were good enough to get it on another truck and out to us. They sent one guy to unload 99 boxes which look like they could have fit in the back of a pickup truck. When the installer came to put in the cabinets, he said the designer didn't measure right for one pull out section of the drawers and he had to cut a 12 inch cabinet down to 10 inches so other doors would open. Therefore, the doors we ordered from Ikea no longer fit and now we have to make a third trip out to buy a new door and return the pieces that weren't used. The installer also unhooked the dishwasher fittings but they leaked afterwards. They were new fittings that never leaked before so we had to have that fixed. While assembling the cabinets, one section was split by a screw and not fixed. He also left debris sitting on our front porch. There are gaps in the cabinet doors and it doesn't look 100% professional. Granted, the cabinets are way nicer than what we had, but we're hoping that when the countertop gets installed it will not be noticeable. The installer also said that US Granite (the counter people) would remove the glued on pressboard left over from the breakfast bar. This was the third time we had asked about this and they told us the other contractor would handle it. The countertop contractor came out and was punctual and measured out everything quickly. He noticed that we did not have enough countertop ordered for the breakfast bar. That ended up costing us an additional $700 in countertop. Further, he stated that they didn't do demo (they wouldn't remove the glued on pressboard from when the breakfast bar was removed) and that the Kitchen Helpers keep telling their clients that US Granite does demo when they don't. We are still waiting for the baseboard to be installed on the stairs and for the debris and packaging to be hauled away (which they stipulate in their contracts they would do). This job ended up costing us way more than we thought it would. Ikea didn't make it clear that their contractor didn't do demo and when we tried to call them to let them know the runaround we were having with their shipping company and the counter installers, it was hard to get to the right person and no one seemed to take our concerns seriously. I can only hope that the countertop people will redeem this job. They're the only ones that have seemed to be professional so far.

We spent some time looking at and testing mattresses at different stores. We chose Ikea because we have had good success with anything we have purchased from them. They offered a 90 day return if we weren't satisfied. So, we felt we had an option if it didn't work out. We are satisfied with our purchase.
Description of Work: We bought a mattress at Ikea. We arranged for them to deliver the mattress. The mattress arrived on the day and time specified and they took away our old mattress. We have been sleeping on this mattress for about four months now and it is very comfortable.

First of all, if you need to call IKEA for any reason (in my case, to reschedule the home delivery), then prepare to wait at least 20 minutes on hold each time, just to be disconnected or told that you are in the wrong department or given the wrong phone number to call. Even standing in the home delivery line at the store took at least 30 minutes (and that's while holding a mattress). But my biggest issue was with the delivery. We were told we would get a phone call the day before delivery with a time window. When they didn't call, we called IKEA. IKEA gave us a disconnected phone number. We tracked down another number for the company and got a hold of them. They said they didn't have it scheduled yet both times we called the day before. They finally called the morning of the delivery and left a voicemail that they would be there in AN HOUR AND A HALF!!! And they didn't even call our backup phone number to make sure we got the last-minute message! And their phone number they left in the voicemail was disconnected! Thankfully they were running late so we made it in time to receive the delivery. I will NEVER again purchase anything at IKEA that I cannot fit in my car. Or preferably nothing at all. The cost savings isn't worth the hassle.

The mattress cost me little over $800 there and I got it for $300 less than any other place I could find it. I shop there because I can get the best prices on the things that I'm looking for. I rate them highly and would use them in the future.
Description of Work: I had been to Ikea - Renton to purchase a king-size mattress and two storage units to go below it that acts as a base to the mattress.

Have been buying furniture for years from Ikea. Have always had a great experience. I assemble it all with no problems, never had a missing screw, instructions sometimes take time but that's to be expected. I love Ikea!

We went there looking for furniture and the sales person told us that it was actually time for them to close the shop. They did not leave us a choice and we had to leave. We couldn't buy anything there as they did not do a fair job in terms of customer service. Their quality of service was bad.
