JC Painting & Remodeling

We hired (contracted) with JC Painting & Remodeling back in November of 2015 for some relatively extensive cabinet refurbishing (kitchen, master bathroom & laundry room) along with the cabinets being redone we had a master bathroom makeover to include Quartz vanity-countertop & tiled backsplash, old shower surround tore out and new porcelain tiled shower installed with the room & trim painted? We also had all the kitchen countertops & backsplash (to include the kitchen island) replaced with Quartz countertops on our refurbished kitchen cabinets as well laundry room repainted and walls wains-coated in laminate (just gorgeous)? Further we had all the old flooring within the living, kitchen, and laundry rooms and associated halls & closets removed and replaced with luxury vinyl plank flooring? The aforementioned was the inside component of our remodeling, we also had JC Painting & Remodeling design & install 16X20 red cedar deck & rail system off our kitchen exterior sliding door exit/entry? Beyond the craftsmanship and fair contractor pricing afforded by JC Painting & Remodeling, the communication displayed by this company and their employees, in particular the project manager (PM) Beau Starr, lead carpenter Bernie and his partners David and Mark and variety of JC sub-contractors as well company owner Jeff and his painting crew, was truly exemplary with great customer service? Of course we had a few hiccups along this remodeling journey but ?all in all? my wife Rose and I have been very pleased with this company and their professional customer service?Thank you JC Painting & Remodeling, Mark

Beau and his contractors were very easy to work with. Beau spent a lot of time with us helping us figure out a design, which was a challenge in the tight space. He provided us with a clear and complete estimate promptly. Once we settled on using them, they came when they said they would and got to work. All persons who came to work on the project were professional and pleasant to be around. During the construction process, we had more than a few problems which caused delays; some of which were beyond the control of the contractor. Because we wanted a French drain, they jackhammered out the concrete foundation. Unfortunately, they made a mistake on installation of the drain and the subsequent floor had too great a slope. They fixed that, but it caused a significant delay. Then, the studs in our basement were vertically and horizontally uneven, from top to bottom, and needed shimming. Finally, the tempered shower glass broke on the day it was to be delivered (right before Thanksgiving), causing another two-week delay. It is easy to be courteous and professional when everything goes well. What is impressive about this company is their great attitude under some difficult circumstances - and that extends to their subcontractors as well. They persevered in overcoming the numerous obstacles during this job. The space in which to work was tight, and one wall was completely out of plumb (hence the shimming). Nevertheless, their final product is of very high quality and we are delighted with it. I would definitely use them again.

Everything went fine. They did a beautiful job. The fence looks very beautiful. Good color stain and professional job. Very easy to deal with and also very friendly service. I would use them again gladly.

The homeowners needed to paint their home to make it desirable to sell, in order to move out of state. JC Painting provided a detailed estimate and the cost did not go up as the job was finished. They always arrived on time as scheduled, and they worked efficiently and carefully at all times. They did not take long "Lunch Breaks." The estimator and owner, JC, was consistently on the job site and was a 100% active painter during the project. JC and his crew were always responsive to suggestions by the homeowners. Their attention to detail was unbelievable! The finished project made the home stand out in comparison to other homes in the neighborhood. The first potential buyer, a neighbor in the area, looking to buy instead of renting, was so impressed that he made an offer on the house, and bought the home before it went on the market. This saved the seller and the buyer a lot of money! We recommend JC Painting unconditionally and without any reservations to any and all potential consumers.

JC Painting and Remodeling responded within 2-3 business days to my contact request, which is very reasonable. Beau was very courteous and professional. He arrived on time, took measurements, listened intently and was able to offer some suggestions and ideas. The estimate was very detailed, leaving no doubts of what was included. I would recommend having them order your tile, for ease of process and no confusion on the product to be used. We had a problem with the pitch in the shower and Beau, Mike and the owner Jeff made sure they fixed the problem. The tile guy, Mike worked until everything was right and the project was complete. The vanity is beautiful and the shower is such a refreshing change from the death trap tub, with short and dangerous shower doors. Both skilled trade workers, Mike and Bernie, were professional, making sure the floors were protected and the work space left tidy, after each visit. Loving our updated bathrooms!

JC Painting & Remodeling couldn't have been better. I sent them an e-mail at 2.30 on a Thursday afternoon they called me at 3.30. They came the next day to give me an estimate. I was really impressed. The sales person walked around the whole house with me and talked to me the whole time and explained why something needs a repair or can wait. It wasn't like he jumped in and said everything could be set. He was very reasonable. He suggested some colors but I didn't stick with him. For the repairs they have another section and someone else had to come and actually give the bid. He came four days later. He too walked around the house with me and suggested what needs a repair and what could wait till the roof got replaced. What had to be done immediately. After I talked to them I decided not only to do the house but also the deck. The bottom of the deck is timber but the railing is cedar. They are going to re-stain the cedar and pressure wash the deck and I also added cleaning of the gutters. I have a different kind of gutter in my house the gutter itself is a part of the roof one part of it is leaking real bad. They are going to be doing repairs on that and wood work on one of the trusses. They are doing the exterior of the house. They are also going to repair some of the cape on the garage. They listened to the kind of money I had to spend, they told me what could be done now and what could wait. They also gave me a good idea of what I needed to do 5 years later. They are also doing repair work on the truss on the roof so that it will stay till the roofing can be replaced 5 years later. They came up with reasonable ways to fix things. I was very impressed. They also gave me a veterans discount. There was a discount on Angie's List. They did not combine both the discounts but they gave me more of a discount. I was happy with that. What I really appreciated is when the guy came for the bid he had ideas. He shared his and listened to my ideas. You cannot make a 1970 house look like a 1990 one so he pointed out to some strips in front of the house that was not structural, that could be taken off and the same wood could be used to frame the windows. They were very prompt. They will pressure wash the house tomorrow. Then after two days they will remodel it and last the painting will be done. I had figured in my head what it would cost for the painting but when they came in they told me a cost for all the repairs and paint the amount that I thought would cost to paint the house. They had a high grade on Angie's List. They have two departments to do the remodeling and painting and both co-ordinate and schedule the work.

Didn't end up using them but they did make the short list. Very professional and good bid.

I was so disappointed. They are in our area and had great ratings but to not even call back is inexcusable. I am so bummed, since this is the third non responsive contact we have tried to hire.

They did a very good job and I will highly recommend them. They were on the higher end but he met another guy?s price and did everything that the other guy said that he would do. So I think the price was fair.

It went very well and looks beautiful. They were on time and very professional. I am so happy to have this done.

Jeff and his crew did an awesome job. We needed to have then come a day earlier than planned due to the early arrival of our furniture and they were extremely accommodating. Once here they went immediately to work and with the exception of a couple of small touch-ups had a job scheduled for 2 full days done in one. Any professional painting needs we have in future we will definitely use this company again.

I am thoroughly impressed with my new custom tile shower. It is functional, beautiful, and was finished in the expected timeline. The entire crew was professional and courteous. Our project manager, Beau Starr, kept me informed through each step in the process and worked with me in choosing products and accessories. I would recommend this company, and Beau, to anyone looking to remodel thier home.

Jeff and two assistants spent most of Saturday doing the painting. Because there were three of them and they all knew what they were doing, the entire job was done, start to finish, in just the one day. They arrived when they said they would, were neat in all they did, consulted with us concerning a minor change we wanted, and provided professional work. Jeff had come out prior to get colors and layouts. He was very receptive to our ideas and discussed the best way to do the accent colors as well as basic color selection. He was here about an hour or so and had all the information written down when he left. On the day of the painting, he went to get the colors mixed and used the brand of paint we requested. When the job was done the house was clean, all tape and paper had been removed and were taken off-site, and remaining paint was given to us for future touch-ups. All-in-all, a very professional job at a reasonable price. You can't ask for more! I would recommend JCP to anyone.

They communicated with us, kept us in the loop and got us in 2 days ahead of schedule. They were fast and efficient and went above and beyond the call of duty!!!

Jeff was professional and punctual. He reviewed our house and stated what needed to be done. He also suggested what colors would look best. Which we went with. We were able to coordinate a schedule that best work for us. His team was neat and professional. The project took a total of three days. We are very pleased with the price and how the project went.

Jeff was right on time, was professional, and seems quite knowledgable. However, his quote came in neRly 3-4 times higher than any other provider. :(

Did not receive a call back and did not hire so I cannot rate the quality of work.

JC painting did a great job. From the start they were very responsive and did a very professional evaluation fo the job and gave a detailed estimate. The work was done to high standards and I would certainly use them again.

I'd like to make it clear that the change in plans was in no way related to JC or the estimate provided. In fact I specifically requested the opportunity to provide this review even though no actual work was performed. My wife and I were both very impressed with the knowledge, professionalism and courtesy displayed by JC when they were at our home. And JC was the company we were going to use prior to changing our plans for this project. We also would not hesitate to recommend JC to anyone for their project needs. (No, I am in no way connected to, related to or have financial interest in JC Painting. Just simply impressed enough to tell you my thoughts about them)

IWe were called at 10 am the day of the appointment by a representative of the company informing us that we lived too far out for them to make the job viable. This would have been nice to have known when we called to make the appointment. They wasted our time, and they look flaky. Moving on.............

The contractor and staff was courteous at all times, prompt to respond and prompt with an estimate, scheduled the work to my convenience, and his crew worked efficiently. The estimate was competitive and seemed fair for the work done. The drywall corrections in the bathroom were done expertly and took care of that problem. The outside work was also done efficiently and the overall appearance was a remarkable improvement. I'm knocking off a bit for the quality because it was discussed and I had assumed that on the ceiling, in a couple of corners, nail heads had rusted and pushed out the drywall, and I thought those had been sealed off so that rust would not bleed back through as it has before. Now, a year later, that problem, though minor, is reappearing. Maybe there's no easy fix for that. Additionally, on the deck, one stretch of one deck board about two feet long was missed altogether, which I did not notice until much later and took care of myself in about three minutes. On the plus side, the contractor came back out to touch up a couple of spots on the ceiling that were missed, something he took care of on the same day I called. Overall, a very positive experience.

Having used JC Painting and Remodeling for some previous work I decided to provide them the first opportunity to bid on the remodel product listed above. JC Painting and Remodeling's Estimator was responded very quickly to my initial inquiry. I scheduled a time for the estimator to come onsite to review the unfinished space. The Estimator came onsite, discussed the project with me and took a few measurements of the space. I provided the Estimator a sketch, not to scale, but with measurements of what we intended for the space. The Estimator indicated they would get back to me with a proposal early the following week. After a few rounds of going back and forth with my comments, questions and concerns and unexpected delays on the Estimator's part, I received a final proposal about 2-3 weeks later. Note: a lot of time was spent rendering 3-D graphics of the proposed space. While this was fine, it didn't add to the overall quality of the proposal. After reviewing the final proposal, several things stood out: 1) The proposal costs were extremely high based on my own estimate of the project. Note: the proposed cost was ~40% higher than my initial estimate. 2) There were several aspects of the proposed project that didn't appear to be necessary and added considerable costs to the project. I expressed these concerns to the Estimator and received the following responses: - They indicated these ?basement remodel? projects always are more expensive than people think they?ll be. - They indicated that they were unable to fully evaluate the scope/price of the proposal because our belongings had been in the space during the onsite visit and measurements. - They also indicated that if we thought we wanted to move forward with the project their "team" could come onsite to provide a more detailed estimate and the price might be lower. This was very disappointing considering the length time this proposal process drug on and any questions or clarifications could have been easily provided if needed. Overall I feel: The Estimator took far too long to provide an inaccurate or high-level proposal. The Estimator spent too much time working on 3-D rendering instead of focusing on understanding the job to provide an accurate estimate. The Estimator didn?t take my concerns and feeling that the costs were far too high. While I still believe JC Painting and Remodeling do quality work and would consider them in the future. Unfortunately, in this case I contacted another contractor who was able to assess/understand the project much more quickly, turned around a proposal in a week and had estimated costs in line with my initial estimate. We selected the second contractor who completed the work to our satisfaction and was within budget for the project.

When the estimate was received via email I responded with additional questions regarding the estimate and what it included. The company did not respond to my email so I followed up with a phone call. The person I spoke with said she would have the owner get in touch. He responded to the email finally and stated we should look elsewhere because of the level of "restoration" we needed. I would not have been so disappointed with this response had he not ignored my initial email with questions. Not all companies are suited for the job and that is fine but customer service is key to any business and I did not receive what I expect from a local business.

Communication was great, responsive and easy to negotiate especially while trying to get this done from another state! Called several companies and this was the best by far. Thank you for your help!

JC was very good to work with. They came out promptly and gave us an estimate, and even a senior discount (this is my elderly Fathers house). The siding on the house was many years old so that size and color isn't readily available anymore. JC located someone to fabricate the same thing. It didn't arrive in the time that they said it would so JC was forced to move our job a couple of days. We were under a real time crunch and told him so. They worked with us to get the work done anyway within the week - in fact, doing the work on a Saturday to meet our timelines. They were able to repair all the damage and reuse the existing siding so the missing new siding wasn't an issue. They came back a couple days later when it wasn't raining and completed the waterproof caulking. They kept in very close touch with us the entire time so there was no wondering what was going on. We will definitely call them again.
