Jon was excellent as was his installer Dave. I originally had an appointment and when the garage door got worse, Jon came out earlier. He repaired what he could and together we decided to replace the old hardware and motor as it was not child safe. His installer came the next week and was courteous and efficient. he cleaned up completely and made sure I was satisfied with the job. One week later, I called about an issue and the installer came the same day. A quick adjustment solved the problem. I would definitely use them again. I did not compare prices, as I used other Angie's List clients recommendation and advice.

The new doors were installed and the garage door opener put back on the new door as expected. Thed old doors were hauled away and all was cleaned up. The finish work on the trim/rubber seal was not done well and the tech said he was not given enough trim to do it right so he planned to come back out 2 days later to finish. He returned as planned and corrected the previous work, but it was still kind of sloppy looking. I called to complain and Jon side he would be out the next week to take a look. I decided to send pictures and Jon then responded he would have someone out to fix it. The tech came back when arranged and replaced several of the trim pieces and put caulking on the corners of the trim, making the overall job look finished. A few days later when trying to get in my garage, the doors would not open. I discovered the lock pin on the bolt that attaches the door opener to the door was not in the bolt and the bolt had fallen out, so the opener was not attached to the door. I called Jon, and his first question to me was "did the tech unhook the door when he was fixing the trim?" I responded, I don't know. Someone at some point in the install or fix had left the pin out and if finally just fell out. I felt like he was thinking we unhooked the door. I ended up fixing it myself and emailed him not to come back the next day.

Called to use my Big Deal. A technician came out to perform the service and inspect the door. He noted that the wheels were worn and would need to be replaced in the next year. He also noted the type of spring and gave me a quick estimate on the number of years of use (many, many more years). We talked about the life of the door and that it was good quality. I decided to use my Big Deal Coupon toward the replacement of the wheels and I needed a new bottom door cushion. I was a little surprised that it would require a second visit. I had to call the office to schedule the second visit, so it was a little inconvenient, but was able to reach the office and get it scheduled after a few days. On the second visit, they were fast and the door sounds much better.

Response was fast, friendly and he went the extra mile for me. Very helpful. Remote is now more responsive and the door operates more smoothly.

Jon was thorough and quick in his assessment of what was needed for our tricky low overhead install. Also he didn't push the upsell, but presented options for consideration. Provided a quote within minutes and composite photos of our house with the door options, a nice visual selection tool if you are uncertain the style door you want. Price was good and they booked the install in the timeframe we wanted. Dave the installer showed up on time, worked efficiently (didn't take any breaks so far as we could tell) and completed the install within the time estimated. Three days in and everything is working well. All were very friendly and professional and answered questions promptly.

I decided to buy the Big Deal reconditioning service ($99) for my garage door. It was still working, but very cranky, especially in winter, with lots of shuddering and jerking. I figured it was only a matter of time before something failed, and decided to jump on the deal for some preventive maintenance. The Sound Door guys were punctual and friendly. Upon examining the door they immediately (and correctly) diagnosed the problem as saggy extension springs and old sheaves (pulleys) with ball bearings that had turned into gravel. In hindsight, this seems pretty obvious. It was naive of me to assume that the $99 service would get everything running like new, so I was prepared to pay for some other replacement parts. I was surprised, however, when they quoted me $400 for this additional service. I asked how much of that was parts vs labor, and they said the springs were about $90 each, and the sheaves something like $20 or $30 each. At this point, I began to understand that the $99 Big Deal was just a "hook" to get their foot in the door, and whatever they lost on the coupon would be recouped fixing the actual problem with the customer's door. Now, these seem like competent and friendly folks, and I have no reason to doubt they'd do a good job. Also, advertising a "teaser" rate for a perfunctory service is a time-honored business practice (just ask your car dealership). But I can buy the necessary extension springs at retail for less than $25 each, or half that if I go mail order or skimp on quality. Good-quality sheaves are under $10, under $5 if mail order. So Sound Door Svcs. mark-up on parts was close to 400% !! At some point, this becomes an ethical and honesty issue. If they're going to offer a group coupon deal, they should price it high enough that they aren't forced to pad their prices for follow-on service. I bought the parts and did the spring & pulley service myself. Soon after, I noticed that Sound Door had re-issued the same Big Deal. It's obviously working for them :)

We were prepared to get entirely new garage doors, but Dave from Sound Door came out said the doors were in really good condition and recommended just replacing part of the track, the springs (which were in really bad shape) and a new motor. We also got an outside key pad put in. Dave did a great job, was on time and clearly explained exactly what he was going to do and why. A friend stopped by while he was working and asked for a bid of an outside key pad and he went right over to her house when he was done to install it! We would definitely recommend this company. Responded to our initial e-mail request immediately and continued to be responsive all the way through.

Jonathan provided excellent and prompt service. He was knowlegeable and explained everything needing to be done in detail! Super proffesional and easy to work with. My garage door works better than new now! Thanks so much for the attention to detail!

They were prompt, courteous, professional and informative. The only slightly negative I have to say about them is that they don't seem to read their email, so I had to call them which wasn't a big deal.

They were able to come to our home within an hour of being called. They quickly identified the root cause of our problem and gave us a few different options to choose from. Typically the most expensive option is the option companies direct you to, but not in this case. Joel described several options (repair, replace wear items, replace entire door) and quickly estimated the price for each. He gave his opinion of each options when asked. With this kind of objective guidance I was able to quickly select the best service. Replacing the mechanicals was right in my situation. After deciding which course to pursue Joel offered to do the service immediately. Within an hour the work was complete and the door works better than ever.

I originally purchased a deal for a tune up. Over the weekend my door stopped working so I scheduled a service call for the tune up. Inspection showed a broken cable and very old springs. I was given the option of a complete new door or repair of the old one. While a new door was less expensive in the long run in the interest of time I opted for the repair. My door now runs smoother than it ever has in the 9 years I am in the house. The job was done quickly and efficiently. The tech was friendly and explained all my options and even pointed out an additional money saving coupon I could use. After the work was completed I received a follow up call from the owner. Very professional service. Thumbs up.

While inspecting the door, it was discovered that the motor for the garage door opener was defective. While removing the defective part, another part was accidentally broken. The technician said that he would get the part and repair it free of charge. We told him that this was not necessary, accidents happen and we would be happy to pay for all parts and labor. Instead the technician returned the next day, made all repairs and only charged us for the repairs to the motor. Despite our insistence that we would gladly pay all costs, he refused. It is service and integrity like that that make Sound Door Service stand out. We would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone in need of door repair and/or service. Excellent service -- prompt, efficient, and professional. I bought a coupon for a tune-up of my garage door (which wasn't working properly). They showed me what was wrong, fixed it, and pointed out that my garage door had no lock so anyone could pull a rope and get in. They installed the lock right away, with no extra charge for labor since they were there anyway. I probably could have found a less expensive lock myself, but they were here, I needed the lock, and I have no ability or desire to install it myself, so in 20 minutes everything was done. Definitely worth it, and I would call them again if I needed to.

John gave me a good assessment of my old door and even told me he thought my opener could handle a new door. He said he didn't like to replace things that were not broken. His crew showed up on time and quickly removed the old door and installed the new one. They programmed my opener to the device inmy car. Very nice job

Once the inspection was done, the technician advised me that the springs, gears and cables were all worn out. This was to be expected as they are 20 years old, original to this house (as far as I knew). He had all the parts he needed with him so I decided to go ahead and have him replace everything. All the work was done well, as far as I can tell. The only reason I marked "B" for price is that I thought it seemed fair but I did no other comparisons. As far as quality of the repair, it's only been 2 days so it's a little early to tell.

From start to finish, I was extremely satisifed. I called two other companies to give me similar quotes and found Jon's quote to be the most reasonable, including removal and hauling away of the old doors as well as reconnecting the opener (which the other two companies would charge extra). I wanted to only replace the 3 panels but Jon said that the door was extremely compromised and he would not suggest that. However, he did give me a quote for repair as well as similar replacement and after some research I decided to upgrade to a stronger product. Uma did most of the installation and the job was finished on time and within the quote. I've recently moved into a ten year old home and have been surprised at the number of expensive projects I've had to undertake. Fortunately, Jon and company made replacing my garage door one of the more pleasant experiences. Jon also gives Angie's members a discount which the other two companies did not.

My garage door spring broke and was stuck closed, trapping my car inside. Sound Door was super responsive and were able to come out same day. On arrival, discovered that my solid-wood-with-paneling door was much heavier than the average door and required custom springs. In the interim, got my door working with the strongest springs that were stocked on their truck. Awesome! After getting the custom springs, came out again and retrofitted with proper springs. Sound Door also recommended replacing some rollers and other parts that were clearly worn. Didn't charge me extra for the 2nd visit. Door now works beautifully. Pricing was very fair. I would definitely use Sound Door again.

Very punctual & efficient. We had 2 different systems with a double door on newer 1 & single door on old opener. Remotes did not work on old side. Serviceman had an old remote he had saved from a former job in his truck. He programmed it & gave it to us for free! Now that is going above & beyond expectations to serve a customer. Happy as a clam with this company & will definitely use them again. The garage doors work beautifully.

They answered the phone, not a call back.The man came right away with an estimate, the next business day the door was fixed. They do not do paint, but they tell you up front.

They were good. Very quick. Everything worked well. The only thing was that I found screws in my driveway after they were done from taking out the old garage door opener. Thank goodness I did not get a flat tire.

John gave me a good estimate in writing. When they were delayed he called me, and set a new time.The techs arrived as promised and within a few hours I had a new garage door. Very nice.

A representative for Sound Door Services came out approximately 2 week prior to the installation date. The technician was on time and professional, making the appropriate measurements and answered my questions. I made the garage door selection and scheduled the work to be completed on 5/8/2012.A two man crew called on the date the service was to be preformed and stated that they would be out between 11 and 12 noon. The arrived on time and within 2 hours, the old door was removed along with the old rails and hardware and was replace with all new rails, springs, cables, hardware and of course the new garage door. The crew hauled off all of the old parts and door.

I recommend him. He did a good job. He really knew what he was talking about. My overall experience with him was excellent. He was responsive and punctual. His price was good, and the quality of his work was excellent.
