 + -1 moreMy garage door torsion spring broke, I called Sound Door the next morning after seeing all the positive reviews. They said they could have someone at my house between noon and 2 the same day and gave a quote for the work ($149 for 1 spring, $199 if they did both). They arrived at noon and had the work done in about 45 minutes. The service rep recommended doing both springs even though only one was broken explaining that they often break around the same time, but he wasn't at all pushy (I decided to do both, for the extra $50 it seemed like a no-brainer). I highly recommend them.

 + -1 moreI had called to have them estimate fixing my garage door...and they worked around our schedule and were prompt and courteous. What I was pleased about was that once I got the estimate, they were willing (and able) to do the work right then. And then, when it was done, they sent us estimates and brochures instantly via email using an iPad and a wireless connection. It was a lot easier than getting an estimate later, then finding out it's not exactly what we need, and needing to get it rewritten, etc,etc,etc. Plus, the technician was good about making recommendations not about the immediate sale, but with long term solutions in mind.
Description of Work: Fixed my garage door...nothing really major, a cable snapped and the wheels went out of the rails (but hard enough that we needed a pro to do it). Also gave us an estimate for a new opener and door.

 + -1 moreI called Sound Door to examine and service a garage door that was making rough noises when opening. I was able to make an appointment on my first call and was given a time window of 1:30-3 PM. Dave, the service person, called during that window to let me know he would be at our home in about 25 minutes, and he was. Dave examined the door and quickly determined the problem - either what could require a simple cleaning and lubrication, or a somewhat more expensive task to replace parts. After further examination he said it would just need the cleaning and lube. Given Dave's knowledge and professionalism, I also asked him to do the same work to the other garage door. The results were great -not only did the work fix the rough noises, both doors are quieter than they've been for years. I had considered replacing the door openers with quieter units, but I have no need to after this work. Dave was courteous, knowledgeable and did quality work. I also appreciate that only the work that was necessary was performed, and that no additional services were pushed on me.

 + -1 moreOur original spring loaded 1963 garage door snapped during the cold a few weeks ago. Couldn't we replacement parts as they don't make them and they are unsafe. We needed a new garage door, and a new opener as the old door being out of balance broke the door opener. So we decided on Sound Door after getting a few quotes. They gave us a range from a fix to a whole new system at our request. Very prompt with quotes...emailed to me before I even got back to my office to check email after talking to them on the phone. The other plus was that they could do the work right away, so we hired them after selecting our door style and new opener upon their recommendation. On time, within budget, no surprises, great worker did an excellent job and cleaned up before he left the property. We love our door, it is whisper quiet, fast efficient and secure. Great product, great service, great install, no regrets though it cost me more than I wanted to spend...it is worth every penny.

They showed up on time, inspected the door, replaced the parts, and showed me additional parts that were worn out and needed to be replaced. I am sure they were original to my 1976 house, and given the amount of use, I'm not surprised they needed to be replaced. My garage door opens and shuts smoothly and is much quieter than before.

 + -1 moreTechnician was polite, punctual and professional. He provided estimate for parts and labor to replace broken lift springs on garage door and I decided to hire him on the spot. Work was completed satisfactorily in about a one-half hour. Door works great now. Also, when I asked him what type of lubrication to use on the moving parts of the door system, he gave me a can of his recommended spray lube product at no charge and sprayed all of the the door parts for me so I could watch how he did it. This was a nice little extra bit of effort...

Description of Work: One of the springs on my garage door broke on New Year's Day with both cars in the garage. I called Sound Door Services around 8 am the following morning and the the first question I was asked was if asked if cars were in the garage. I was promised that a technician would be at my home between 10 am and noon. The technician arrived shortly before 10 am; said it would take approx. 30 - 45 minutes to replace both springs. I selected Sound Door on Angie's list because they were fairly close to my home in Newcastle and because of their rating.

 + -1 moreThe gentleman that was sent to do the job was skilled and efficient. He arrived early, worked all day, and left our garage cleaner than he found it. The 3 new garage doors work perfectly, all set to our openers without my help, and look so good that we do not have to paint them to match our house. Wonderful experience, and would use them again without a second thought.
Description of Work: One of our three wood garage doors was damaged (came in contact with a car) and needed to be replaced immediately. John came out the following day and gave me an estimate to replace all 3 of our wood doors with metal doors--a huge savings over replacing with wood--and was willing to change his schedule in order to do the job just 2 days later. His explanations and choices were clear and honest, and he let me decide what was best for our situation. His very apparent integrity was the deciding point in choosing this company.

 + -1 moreExcellent all-around experience. Got on Angie's in the morning. Found and then called Sound Door Services. They had a guy come out that same afternoon ('Dave'). He spent about an hour re-aligning bent brackets and the rail itself. Then he secured the stop switch. He greased the rail which made the garage door opener much quieter. He was punctual, professional, and charged me for their flat service call rate, then applied an Angie's customer discount. I totally would use and recommend this company again.
Description of Work: I had a garage door that jammed in the closed position because the stopper switch had come loose and fooled the opener into thinking it had to keep going after the door closed.

 + -1 moreWork was done as promised. Technician arrived on time and inspected the door. Tech noted that the door was an 8 ft high door with 12 rollers but the Angie's List coupon only covered a 7 ft door with 10 rollers and there would be extra cost for the 2 additional rollers. I was aware of this when I purchased the Angie's List coupon so was not surprised. After I agreed to the extra cost ($20) the technician went to work replacing all the rollers and checking and tightening all the fittings and connections on the door. I wasn't timing but I'd guess the work took about an hour. The technician was punctual and polite. We took care of business and he did not attempt to "up-sell" me services I did not need.
Description of Work: Angie's List special to refurbish garage door and replace all rollers. Work was done as promised.

Description of Work: After checking Angies list for someone to repair or replace my wooden garage door. I found Sound door services had a good bunch of recommendations . So I gave them a call and John the owner came to look over my old door the next day December 13th. I was wishful thinking that a repair might be possible and John .explained to me that the door was in too bad shape to retained so we discussed the option.. The door was 29 years old and the surface was peeling off . It faced the back yard and allowed me to bring things from the garage to my rear yard easily. He described a new door and how it could be installed . We talked about it and he said it would be primed ready for me to paint when summer arrived. The cost came to a little more than $1200. My wife and I were pleased with the plan and we settled on installation the second week in January. So on January 13 th John's man showed up with the door in pieces to assemble and install. I was thankful that the primer John put on the door was tinted grey, near my house color. It was enjoyable to periodically check on the progress of the assembly by his man that really knew knew what he was doing. My Wife and I checked it out and are vey pleased with the door and the work done installing it.

The service tecnician showed up on time, listened to my requests and gave me a clear estimate of what it would cost to do the repairs. I asked when they would be able to do the work. He said anytime including right now. He was done 45 minutes later. The door works great and if I need any more service on the door, I will be calling these guys back.

 + -1 moreThe technician arrived early, immediately assessed the problem (force was not set high enough to close door) and made necessary adjustment. Tech also lubricated all moving parts. During service call, I asked tech to look at another, much older garage door and give me a ballpark idea of the cost of replacing it. The tech looked it over carefully and advised me that it had plenty of life in it, but the pulley whels could be replaced to ensure longer life. I asked if he could do it on this service call, and he did it right away. The receiver for the door opener was no longer working, and I had purchased a replacement receiver and transmitter. I asked the tech if he could also install the new transmitter, which he readily did. Overall, this was a great customer service experience. I went in thinking I might need major repairs and the replacement of a door and opener, and came away with two well functioning doors at the cost of just over $130. Also, it needs to be said that the tech was cordial, obviously knowledgeable, and never tried to upsell me any products or services - quite the contrary. I strongly recommend Sound Doors and will use them again if needed.

Description of Work: The garage door opener was running erratically and was unable to troubleshoot myself. The technicians arrived at their scheduled time and assessed that various conditions added to the problem. They assessed that new springs would solve the problem, replaced them at this service call. They also checked all the other elements of the garage door and opener to make sure all parts were working properly and all nuts and bolts were tight.
