I'm giving them a B, because when the installer was putting in the garage door opener he first installed directly below my overhead storage that lowers to the floor. I was really surprised to see that he actually put it there to begin with. With the help from his boss the problem was corrected and the door works great. I then however noticed that one of the hinges was not attached at all and needed to have the manager come out to my house and fix it. That being said, I love my new door.

Overall, the experience was very positive. My work hours are odd, so the initial contact and most of the arrangements were made over email and a few phone calls. Jon got me set up with an excellent door which was a considerable improvement over the one I had initially asked about, and not much difference in price. I was able to get a deal on a door which had been previously installed for a few months before the owner changed their mind - it was correctly described as lightly used - a few minor paint defects and small dents were present. This was apparently a very uncommon thing (to have a "used" door), but it worked out great for me. The only issues at all were that it sometimes took a little while to get email replies, but I had no problem getting through by phone when I needed to. My written estimate took a few days to materialize, but matched the essence of what we talked about by telephone. Juan, the installer, was excellent - he was courteous and polite, and had a well defined system for setting up, doing the work, and cleaning up. I commented that I was impressed by his work, and he replied that he had been doing this for something like 13-15 years, which explained the quality. The job included replacement of the door, tracks, and all the other hardware, and reattaching my garage door opener took about 3 hours. The installation was outstanding, and it runs quieter than our old door did even when new (nylon rollers were used, but the workmanship undoubtedly had a considerable role as well). I have no reservations about my experience, and would readily do business with Sound Door Services in the future.

Serviced two garage doors... replaced metallic rollers with nylon... lubed and adjusted hinges and drive chains. Satisfied with work done; however, even the $200 SPECIAL (regular $400) seemed a bit high for 30 minutes work.

The spring on my garage door broke which caused the opener to rip out of the door. Because the door was dented and the opener extremely loud, I decided to replace everything. We saw all the good reviews so we called Sound Door Services. We called on Thursday and John came out the next day. Even though I told him I wanted all new stuff, he told me he could fix everything for about $300. I told him I still wanted all new stuff. He then showed me all my options, starting with the cheaper things first. He even steered me away from more expensive options because he said they wouldn't look right on my house. After I made my choices he said he had a man in the area on Monday and, if all went well with that job, he could send him to my house afterwards. Monday at about noon his man called and said he would be at my house in about 15 min. He was very polite, asked me if I minded his radio on, and got right to work. By 4:30 I had a new door and a VERY quiet opener. It looks great and works wonderfully.

We called them to evaluate a problem we were having with our garage door opener and as it turns out, it actually broke before his appointment. So, when James arrived, we discussed the option of replacing the broken part or replacing the entire unit. He provided me with cost estimates for both options as well as the pros and cons so I could make an informed decision. I chose to go with replacing the entire unit since it was the original unit that was installed in 1995. He did not have the new opener to be installed on the day he came for the evaluation, so we had to schedule a follow visit a couple of days later for the installation. He showed up on time and installed the new unit within the time frame that he estimated. We would use him again if our other garage door opener needs to be replaced too.

That is fine. He did a good job and gave me some tips about maintenance on the doors and so I would recommend him. I think I had to reschedule that one.

Scheduling was fast and they explained the process very well. I have had the door openers for a couple months now and they are working perfectly. They are very quiet compared to the last openers. Overall, I am happy with their expertise and quality of work.

This is a can-do company. And they do it well, for a lot less. We had to take our ancient garage door down to do repairs to the garage. Rehanging it on the single gigantic antique spring and restringing the cables was beyond our abilities. We also didn't know if the very old parts needed replacement in order for the door to work with a new opener. James came out on the scheduled day, and called ahead of arrival to see whether an early arrival was OK. (It was.) He told us he could make all our old parts work, and recommended an economical opener that would work with it. The other company that came out wanted to replace everything except the door itself, and charge $600 minus the Angie's list discount. I am happy not to throw working parts into a landfill, and even happier to pocket the $450 price difference while doing the right thing. James was done in 10 minutes. The door works great. The appointment was made several days prior. I took time off to wait for them. They called and moved the appointment window. When the technician arrived, he quoted me a higher rate. After I told him about the first quote I got on the phone, he change the quote. Not knowing the cost of these items, I agreed to the work. **** What a ripe off **** Quote1: $175 per door (2 springs + labor), $20 per pulley (needed 6) Quote2: $95 (labor), $68 per spring, $20 per pulley (needed 6), 10% off from Angie List He tighten the bolts and grease the joints. After the work was done, I managed to stop by Home Depot. The cost of a pulley is around $5 and the cost of that grade of spring is about $24. I could have done it myself within $150. Completely unrealistic pricing on parts.

It went well. He was honest about what I needed and how to make my doors safer.

The tech showed up as scheduled. Inspected the door and said it was from a rare manufacturer and they did not have parts for it. Called the shop and spoke to another tech or manager and confirmed what he'd told me earlier. Made a few more suggestions about how to best go about my repairs and a rough estimate for replacing the whole garage door in case fixing got too expensive.

Bought an Angie's deal for $99.99 for garage door service from Sound Door Service and am very happy with the service provided. The tech called me to let me know he was on his way and arrived quickly. He was knowledgable,friendly,polite and made no mess. I had him replace a few parts that were not included in the deal but needed to be replaced. Our garage door opens and closes nicely now. Would use them again!

He was punctual and courteus; Did not sell services he thought we didn't need, though I didn't know better. Did a great job. Definitely will recommend to others.

Sunday night my garage door opener failed to operate. I punched the button again. Still no action, but then I noticed that the control box was smoking. A friend came to unplug it for me so I didn't need to worry about fire. Monday I called Sound Door Company on the recommendation of my friend and Angie's List. Jon set an appointment for Wednesday between 2-4. At 1:30 on appointed day, James called and asked if it was okay if he was 15 minutes early. Nice communication. I figured I would need a new box and was prepared for a bigger bill, but he switched out the capacitor, lubed everything and checked the door's balance and other parts. He was in and out of there within half an hour. He assured me that the opener system I have, though more than 13 years old, is a good one, and said sometimes capacitors just do that. He advised me to be watchful in case it did it again and let me know that other than new springs at some point in the future, this system should last a long time. How nice. I know there are companies who thrive and selling new systems and I certainly would have believed that had Sound Door been one of those types of outfits. Always happy to to find companies that give honest advice and fix what they can, rather than selling you all new stuff every chance they get. Jon was great on the phone, and James was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, thorough and speedy. And my dog liked him, so he must be a good guy. :)

We purchased the $99 tuneup / roller replacement for two doors. While they were out we had them also replace the springs, to which they also recommended replacing the pulleys as well. They were clear in communication, and even said we didn't need to replace one set of springs (though we did).

The service was great and they even replaced the frames.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it turned out great. They came this morning, and it was awesome. The guy was great, he was helpful, and went above and beyond, and fixed a cable that was broken. We have a really old garage door opener and I asked him if he had a universal one, which could be paired up with the old one. He said they had them and they sell them for 45 Dollars, so home depot was cheaper and he also showed me how to do it. We said he should just do it, because we have a new baby and we are short on time. He tried to install it and it didn't work, and he told me what to buy. He was great, no pressure and a very nice guy. He was very professional. It took 45 minutes for him to do it, and he told me what to do so that I can increase the life of the door. I was very pleased with him.
