Please confirm your account to post your review 1.0 star rating 8/1/2017 (Complaint: Repeated Pattern of Bait-and-Switch Pricing) Since the early nineties, I've employed Stanley Steemer to clean our carpets. The company has also restored our marble and cleaned upholstery; plus, they've stretched our Great Room carpet--all to our satisfaction (and at great cumulative expense). Guys like Ezekiel and Lou (today's crew) are why I've continued to use the company. They do good work for us. For years, upon scheduling appointments, I've answered questions to the best of my ability in agreeing to a reasonable bid. Problem is, once workers arrive, they inevitably dispute the written, in-hand bid I've been given. Truth be told, workers don't seem at all comfortable with the script their company managers hold them to, but they want to keep their jobs. In no way do I blame workers for trying to do what they are told. Given our Great Room (main floor) and Master Bedroom (top floor), I understand why it's difficult to agree to labels for spaces that are not defined by walls. But that problem was resolved (I thought) some three years back when I asked the phone rep to store my information in a master computer file so that, whenever I call, they know precisely what spaces I'm asking to be cleaned; plus, they would have on hand previous bids for the very same spaces. At one point, if I'm not mistaken, I even passed on an 8-1/2 x 11" Floor Plan to simplify the discussion. When I called for our latest appointment, the rep started up again with standard questions--e.g., "Is that a hallway, or is it part of a room yet to be labeled?" Thankfully, upon reminding the rep that Stanley Steemer has all that info stored on file, she had no trouble accessing it. Straightaway, she issued a bid to which I agreed; and she informed me that servicemen would honor the 15% discount that had yet to be applied. On the day of our appointment, immediately upon arrival, Ezekiel insisted that his manager would not let him do the job for the sum quoted (Confirmation # 2149605). Ezekiel called his manager from our home, but I was not allowed to speak to him. The inflated price would stand. Minutes later, when I called the manager's 800-number (with extension), he was "not available." Not to me anyway. To avoid escalating our disagreement, we paid the inflated, bait-and-switch charge, but we informed Ezekiel that--no fault of his--we'd be dropping Stanley Steemer as our service provider; and we'd be posting negative reviews on line. To curtail further use of bait-and-switch trickery, I am inclined to notify the Attorney General's office as well. When we were told we'd get a call before arrival (somewhere between 8 AM and noon), but didn't, we were inconvenienced; but the oversight was no deal breaker. We knew floors would be slippery, so we didn't complain that the usual caution signs were not posted, nor did we fuss when wood furniture was placed directly on wet carpet without protection. After the crew left, we simply moved the furniture to dry ground. However, "bait and switch" is a dishonest ploy that we cannot and will not tolerate, especially given the extraordinary effort over many years (decades, in fact) that we've put into securing an honest, reliable bid. For this reason, I highly recommend that readers take their business elsewhere. That's what we're doing. 29 July 2017

In the end, we do not feel Stanley Steemer is trustworthy, and we are unhappy with the quality of the work and what we feel like were deceptive pricing.
We wanted a dustless hardwood scratch and recoat and found what we thought was a good deal. We decided on getting a full topcoat rather than the simpler maintenance coat. We have two issues which left a unpleasant taste in our mouths. The first issue is that they left far too early for them to actually apply a topcoat properly. They left after about 2 hours when the topcoat application should have taken about 4 hours to apply the additional coats. The second issue is that although we booked for one price which seemed excellent, the price in the end was far higher since there were additional cleaning steps charged for that were not in the original quote and which we apparently didn't fully understand when we agreed to do the work. We would not have gone for stanley steemer or the full topcoat if we had known beforehand.

We're really happy with him. They do them every couple of years and we're always very happy with them. They're very very good. He did everything that the did and he announced ahead of time what they're going to do, what he was doing, have me come in and check which is awesome. He had me come in and check to show me the carpets. They're just very very helpful. The carpet turned out perfect.

My dog passed recently and before he died, he lost control of his bladder. I have had excellent service from this company in the past, so I made an appointment. Where to begin? The techs were over an hour late. I did not receive a call letting me know. I had to call them! They did not move any furniture, which was done in the past .They did not use corner guards. I asked them to keep the door as shut as possible and blocked, as I have indoor cats. Didn't happen. Now that the carpet has dried, it stinks worse than it did before the service! I have had way better results with over-the-counter spot cleaners. I called and they will have another crew show up at no charge. Yay! I have to live with this stench for several days, plus taking another day off work. I will not hire them again.

Cleaners did a nice job on the tile floors, and a decent job on the carpets. But it seemed a bit expensive for the level of cleaning we expected especially for the carpeting.

Call center/office staff kept on messing up scheduled appointment in their system, after many misquotes for our requested appointment date of cleaning service, we somehow got set up with two appointments on the right day.. Follow up calls were needed to straighten out the issues, and of course being put on hold for lengthy periods of to deal with these things is always so much fun.

They were just ok. New home carpet cleaning prior to move in. They couldnt get many of the bad stains out. (soda and some areas got and quot;bleachedand quot; from pets, maybe?)
My biggest reason I wouldn't use them again is the one tech, a much older gentleman, was working hard and OBVIOUSLY not wearing deodorant. The rooms he worked on smelled Horrible!
The other Tech apologized and gave us a free room deodorizer for the carpets to compensate, but it just grossed me out. I noticed he also opened some windows- fine with me!
( wish I got his name so I could just specify not to have him back)
The carpets that were not stained look nice and are soft now. Not sure if we would have them back, so just checked no.

Ken and Farhid arrived on time and were polite and professional. They were wonderful to have working for us. All the floors came out better than I had expected. We are having them back in two weeks to steam clean all the tile in the house.
