Residential Garage Doors – Opener & Door Repair, Spring Replacement, New Door & Opener Installation, & Maintenance.
Arrived within one and a half hours. Was courteous and efficient. Door worked smoothly and quietly after the servicing.
Description of Work: Because the door tracks had been bent out of position and one of the lasers had been disconnected, the door was not closing automatically. This was repaired and the door was oiled and serviced. Upon questioning, a simple recommendation was made for improving contact between the door and the tilted garage floor, although the serviceman could not repair this himself.

I called on a Friday afternoon, and was scheduled for the following morning. Rod showed up within the two hour window I was given. He is very personable and capable, even going so far as to help out with a non-garage-door related task requiring two people. He tuned up the doors, replaced the springs on one, some burned out bulbs, and a broken hinge. He could have charged a fortune but only charged for the springs and other parts. I highly recommend this company, I could not have been more satisfied. They really did a great job. I was very happy with the results when they finished the job. They did a good job cleaning up after themselves as well. I would use them again, and I would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They tuned up my garage door and added some new springs, which needed to be replaced.

They are really easy to get a hold of. You can easily set up an appointment with them and they give you estimates that they stick to. They were not cheap, but they were what I needed. They were worth the money and I would recommend them to everyone.

The moment I contacted this company I had a good feeling. Rod's was easy to schedule and re-schedule once I realized I had a conflict. They could fit me in the next day (I called late in the afternoon) and showed up right when they said they would. The technician was friendly, courteous and speedy in his work. He said it would be about 30 minutes to perform the work and offered me two options on springs; without pressuring me to buy the most expensive! I decided to go with the longest lasting spring which is reflected in the price I paid. I could have paid about half.
Description of Work: Removed old broken springs and installed new, high life springs.

I called the company at 8:20 am, and was told the service person would arrive sometime later in the morning as there were three jobs before our garage. Victor arrived at 10:30 am (he did not call although I requested a phone call prior to arrival). He was very pleasant, professional, courteous, and friendly. The fix itself was about 15 minutes, and he took the time to check/lubricate/tighten bolts on our other garage door as well. I was very happily surprised that our garage doors could function with so much less noise. He did mention that his company sells a garage door opener that operates with maybe 1/4 the noise, and also that it costs $500. There was no pressure though, he was just letting me know that I have an option other than waking up every morning at 6:30 am when my husband leaves for work (our bedroom is right above the garage). Excellent service!
Description of Work: Victor replaced a missing bolt in the metal bar/rod that holds the chain of our garage door opener. (It had fallen out and the bar/rod buckled, so that the garage door wouldn't open/close.) He returned the chain to its position, lubricated the bar and other parts, and tightened all the bolts on the garage door. He did this for the problematic door AND he volunteered to lubricate/tighten the bolts on our other garage door.

Victor came out within an hour of me calling the company. He is very professional and competent and service oriented. He is honest about what was needed and what was not needed. He even did some maintenance gratis on the third door. He is the ideal workman. I don't say that lightly because I really hate having workmen around. I used the company twice before, once in 2000 and once in 2001. The door done in 2000 still didn't need springs replaced, and Victor was honest about that, even though I might have paid to have it done again since he was there doing the other doors. The gal on the phone when I called the company is the one who told me about Angie's List. She said, "Check us out on Angie's List." So after Victor left, I did, and bought this membership, so that was another good tip.
Description of Work: Two springs replaced on each of two garage doors, along with 4 pulleys on one door.

At 2:00 PM I called them and told them about my door. I mentioned that Rod's door repair had the best rating of all on Angie's list. The dispatcher asked if it was a 1 or 2 spring door. She said the man would arrive within an hour. I told her I had to leave for work by 4:00 pm. She said he could get the work done in time. He arrived within an hour and completed the work before 4:00 PM. He then helped me to move some things back into the garage. I was impressed.

This is the second time Victor was at our house. The first was about 6 months ago to fix or replace a malfunctioning garage door opener. It turned out to be a simple replacement of a plastic gear in the garage door opener. The cost was much cheaper than a brand new garage door opener. I called this company because of the reviews from Angie's List. We were happy with the service by Victor and knew exactly who to call this time to replace our broken spring. Victor is a professional and always keeps me updated with what he's doing and why.
Description of Work: One of springs on the double garage door broke earlier today. I called Rod's Door Repair, also known as The Door Works. I was happy to learn that they can have someone over later the same morning. I didn't ask for a specific technician though, it turns out we got the same as a previous service. I was offered a choice of the standard springs or the Highlife springs. I chose the Highlife springs to replace both springs. Victor came and promptly showed me the trick to open the garage door with a broken spring to get the cars out of the garage so we won't be stuck in the future and the work can start. Once the cars were out of the way, he proceeded to remove the old springs and install the new ones. After installation of the new springs, he made sure everything was working, well lubricated and properly adjusted. He heard some metallic sound and found that something needed re-alignment and proceeded to do so. All this was done in an hour and the garage door is now working properly.

Excellent. Jose showed up an hour early, but it worked for me. He quickly assessed the problem and had a solution for it right away. He offered the standard springs as replacements of the ones broken, or upgrade to a higher quality for another $60, but double the warranty time. We chose the latter. He worked quickly and had everything working in 1 hour. Nice, easy. Cost wise, didn't call around to get quotes, so can't compare to any other company.

After years of struggling with the door on our 40+ year old garage, I called RDR at 8:00 Monday morning. A live person answered the phone, listened to my explanations of the problem and dispatched a repair person. About 8:30 I got a call from Victor, the service technician, verifying my address. I told him that my wife was home and she would have a key to the garage for him. At 9:00am, Victor called to explain that the door needed four new pulleys and some adjustment and the work would cost less than a hundred bucks. I told him to go for it. I also asked if he could provide an estimate for a new door. When I got home that night, I tested out the garage door; it lifts with almost no effort. Inside the house I found a receipt for the work performed and an estimate for a new door. Amazing.
Description of Work: Garage door getting too heavy to lift. RDR replaced 4 pulleys, adjusted spring tension.

When I called Rod's Door Repair, they offered to come out the next day. The two man team arrived on time and assessed the situation. As the springs on our door are at least 12 years old, they recommended that I replace all four and the roller at the cost of $297. They also were willing to replace just the broken one for $179. Given the age of the springs, I chose to do all four and the roller. They completed the repair quickly and checked that the door was operating well.
Description of Work: One of the four springs on our double-door garage snapped. Rod's Door Repair replaced all four springs and the associated roller.

We decided to go for the most expensive belt-driven openers which increased the price. Although $1,700 seems like a lot, the sound you don't hear was worth the added cost.

Jose, the technician, showed me that the emergency release was not pushed back into position correctly. The fix was 30 seconds, but he stayed for another half-hour, tightening, lubing and adjusting both doors so that they operated quietly and correctly. He adjusted one door that was not opening fully and straightened out the electric eye also. He was prompt, courteous and kind when I said I felt stupid. With the senior discount, I was extremely satisfied.

Prompt service. I called at five minutes before 5PM on Monday and he was here at 8:30AM Tuesday! Quickly and efficiently fixed the door and then lubed all pivot points and rollers and checked it for proper function. Jose was in and out in an hour. Very well done and for a reasonable price. The springs I bought have a six year replacement warranty.

I CALLED RODS DOOR TO GET MY DOOR TO OPEN AND CLOSE RELIABLY EACH TIME WE USED IT. FOR 20 YEARS IT HAS NOT OPENED AND CLOSED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. WHEN I WENT TO WORK EACH MORNING, I WOULD HAVE TO HIT THE DOWN BUTTON AS MANY AS 10 TIMES TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM BOUNCING BACK INTO THE UP MODE. I HAD OTHER DOOR COMPANIES ADJUST IT BUT IT NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. I CALLED ROD'S AND LOREN CAME OUT IN SOME OF THE WORST WEATHER SEATTLE HAS HAD IN MANY YEARS. I EXPECTED TO HAVE THE VERY EXPENSIVE TORSIONAL SPRINGS REPLACED. LOREN TOLD ME THE SPRINGS WERE OK. AFTER WAITING FOR THE SPECIAL ORDERED HEAVY DUTY PULLIES HE CAME BACK AGAIN IN HORRIBLE WEATHER AND REPAIRED THE DOOR WHILE I WAS AT WORK (I LEFT THE KEY FOR HIM). I WAITED TO MAKE THIS REPORT TO BE SURE THE DOOR WOULD WORK WELL. EVERYTHING HE DID WORKS PERFECTLY. I HAVE SINCE RECOMMENDED HIM TO 3 FRIENDS. I USUALLY DO ALL MY OWN WORK BUT THIS WAS MY BEST SPENT MONEY IN YEARS. THANK YOU ANGIE'S LIST.
Description of Work: REPLACED LARGE 16 FOOT WIDE 12 FOOT HIGH GARAGE DOOR CABLES WITH NEW EXTRA HEAVY DUTY CABLE PULLEY ROLLERS. ADJUSTED THE DOOR TO CLOSE EASILY AND ON THE FIRST TIME. RE-SET THE REMOTES SO MY NEIGHBOR'S REMOTES WOULD NOT TRIP MY DOOR TO OPEN.

The tech called early to say that he could be here an hour ahead of my appointment time. He showed up right on the dot; he was very pleasant, professional, quick and efficient. He explained what he was doing as he worked, and finished the job in about 15 minutes. The door had been very difficult to open manually, and worked much better after the adjustments. I will call them the next time our garage door needs work.

Looked for a recommendation on Angie's List and found this company. I made a call and within 40 minutes the repair man arrived. He knew exactly what was wrong and replaced a broken gear in the opener. Jose, the service man, briefed me on every step of the way. When he was finished he double checked his work. After that he tightened all parts of the door and lubricated it. He then did the same thing to our second door which had not failed. I was very pleased with the company and would recommend them highly to anyone needing that type of service.
Description of Work: The door opened half way and refused to go further. It appears a plastic gear in the opener had failed.

Victor called to let me know he was on his way. He was friendly, polite and efficient. He fixed what he was supposed to, but he also adjusted the traveling mechanism on the working door so that I wouldn't have the same problem with that door in the future. He didn't have to do that but I was very thoughtful that he did. After the work was completed, he showed me what the problem had been. He also showed me a drill bit he had fabricated to make his work easier and faster. Victor was considerate throughout the whole time.
Description of Work: Victor from Rod's Door Repair repaired a garage door that wasn't working. The traveling mechanism was hitting a bolt, and he changed the travel distance of the mechanism so that it worked the way it was supposed to. Victor also tightened all the bolts on both garage doors and oiled them.

Victor was prompt. He tightened the bolts and then lubricated the tracks and screw. He adjusted settings on the motor and the angle of the connecting bar. The opener worked, but made a horrible noise. He found a broken tooth on the motor s cylinder. I was a bit peeved that he didn't have the replacement part, but found on the Internet that Stanley's was out of business, parts are hard to come by, and we'd need a new motor. The service call was about $71, which we could put toward a new opener. We opted for the Genie Whisper Drive (8-foot) belt-drive (which was $480+ tax including install). The only surprise was the extra $70 for the keyless entry. As for the separation between door and ground, the floor is subsiding. Victor recommended nailing more layers of rubber on the bottom of the door.
Description of Work: Our Stanley screwdriver opener would only lift when the door was half open. Also, there was a large separation between door and ground on one end. We replaced the opener.
