City Plumbing Service did the plumbing and installation of our showers, toilets, hot water heaters, etc. in the new addition to our home. This work was paid in full and installed through our contractor in late March/early April 2010. During the freeze a few weeks ago (Dec 2010), some of the components appear to have frozen and burst due from improper installation and insulating. We have contacted City Plumbing Service by phone and email and they are refusing to correct the problem without charging us additional monies. In reference to the provider's response dated 12/27/2010. Your statement ".....due to excessive cold weather w/ not (no) heat to the area," is a completely inaccurate statement. The space where the plumbing was installed was/is heated, with the source only about 10 feet away. Shortly after the original posting and response, we had 2 separate and reputable plumbers inspect the work as though we had no knowledge of the issue. Both reports noted the primary reason for the leakage was in face "....the result of a faulty gasket, which appears to have failed during colder than normal temperature....". It was also noted that the failure was "....potentially accelerated as the result of insufficient insulation." The actual issue (faulty gasket), was never mentioned in your reply below or at the time of inspection. We were advised that Kohler has a "Faucet Lifetime Limited Warranty", and contacted them. Kohler immediately shipped out a complete replacement, and the plumber who advised us of the warranty returned later in the week to complete the installation. Ironically, upon completion of the work, (30 min) he refused payment, stating that ..."I don't feel right charging for what should have easily been noticed and taken care by the original installer.... So it was out of warranty 2 months... not like it was 2 years... get the d*** replacement and keep the customer happy." Now that's CUSTOMER SERVICE!

We responded to his call. There was a problem. Went to residence inspected situation. Determined shower cartridge had froze + broke. We responded to homeowner it could be repaired easily. he could do the repair or we could. His warranty of 1 year had expired in Oct 2010. The damaged cartridge was not due to our negligence but due to excessive cold weather w not heat to area. Nothing per architectural drawings were submitted to us indicating an unheated space. The client had every opportunity to communicate with us regarding the repair but chose to contact you instead. We stand true to our work. In 20 years of business, have been able to satisfy our customers with no complains - Our company values our customers and have always put the customer first, providing they give us the chance to help them solve any unexpected circumstances weather it is due to our work or something unforeseen that might involve our work. We gave the customer the chance to have us fix the problem but he chose to get even instead of getting right with us as his contractor. We thought the customers were very nice men from the day we met them and never would have guessed we would have this kind of unhappy experience with them. Kristen Wagner, Owner
