We chose them because they had the best bid. However, we learned early on that they were very messy and not very professional. We had brand new carpets in our home prior to moving in. They did not mask off the carpets appropriately and got paint in two of the bedrooms carpet. They acknolwedged the problem and said not to worry that they would clean it with a carpet machine. Although we were skeptical, we thought we would give them a chance. Obviously, dried paint on carpet does not come out. The owner stated that he was going to use "good off" on the carpet to get the paint out. Whatever he used didn't work and it made a different stain. Now the carpet a dingy color and those areas now look like the carpet is worn and old. The paint on the sides of the room still remain. To make things worse, when we asked them to deduct this from our final bill they simply say "there is nothing wrong with those carpets". From there on our experience with them got worse. After painting all of our walls with new paint, I arrived home that evening to discover they they were cutting our laminate flooring inside the house. This creates very fine powdery dust that not only got all over our freshly painted walls but also in our new appliances. Luckily our appliances were still under warranty, and we had a company clean them out for us. We spent weeks cleaning this dust out of everything including cleaning all of the walls. They were very messy and cleaned their paint tools out in our new stainless steel kitchen sink. The sink is now scratched, and has dried paint on it that we cannot get off. They continued to clean their tools in the sink even after we asked them not to. Another big issue was the laying of the vapor barrier. We had purchased several rolls of vapor barrier and told them to use up all of the rolls even if it was 3 layers thick. When we asked if they used it all they said yes. We noticed that there were no empty boxes on the property and wondered where it went. My husband went under the house and inspected it and saw that there were bare areas under the house and all of the vapor barrier had definatley not been used. When we continued to question the owner, he eventually admitted that he lied to us and one of his employees did not lay all of the vapor barrier. The employee either hid the extra material or took it off the premises. This was dishonest not only on his employees part but also his part. We decided to give him another chance rather than kick him off of our property. This was obviously a mistake because we continued to have issues. The work was near completion and we discovered that parts of our laminate flooring were coming apart and squeeking very bad. There were also parts of the floor that you could "bounce" on. The owner kept saying that this was the type of floor and it was not a very good product. When we went back to the manufacter to make a claim, they indicated that it was not installed properly and our claim was denied. We had two other people come in to take a look at the floors and they were all in agreement that the floors were laid incorrectly. We have contacted them to make the necessary repairs. They came out to the house took pictures and then continued to say that there is nothing wrong with the carpet and the floors are not there fault. In fact they are saying that we put the paint on the carpets. I couldn't believe that said that. There were many other things that we overlooked as we just wanted to get this settled. Our living room coffee table has a huge scratch on it because they laid their saw right against it. They just did not seem to care about our personal belongings. We have just recently discovered that we have loose bricks on the newly bricked fireplace. We wonder what is next?
Description of Work: We hired them to do some cosmetic remodeling which included painting the interior, replacing the bathroom and kitchen/living room floors. Placing vapor barrier under the house, installing bathroom counter and sink and rerocking the fireflace.
