We were eager to do a "limited" renovation of our bathrooms in our island home and had put off this task, foolishly, until just before Christmas (when we had company coming!) I called four contractors and received formal bids from 2 of them. Ron's was about two hundred dollars more the the other one, but I really liked his approach. As I showed him the work to be done, he took careful notes and measurements, asked lots of questions, and responded to my questions thoroughly. I could tell from lthe start that he would be easy to work with. I toldhim right away about my timing and fortunately, he was available to get the job done right away. When I chose him for the job, we discussed materials, which I wanted to choose and purchase myself. He had good suggestions for sources, and was kknowledgable about prices, too. I had to go "off-island" to make my selections, then Ron went and picked up all the materials in his truck. He and his assistant came every day, as planned, until the job was finished. Ron is the first contractor, of many I have worked with in the last 15 years, who: 1) communicates exceptionally well, 2) is punctual and always called if he was going to be late, 3) is ACCURATE in his bid--and reasonably priced, 4) anticipated possible problems and gave me a dollar quote in advance for those contingencies, 5) and is extremely careful and clean in his work. For example, we couldn't tell what kind of flooring was under the vinyl in the original bathroom setup, but he said that if we chose to replace it, that would cost an additional $450 for the materials and labor. After the vinyl was removed, he recommended (but didn't press the issue--it was always my choice) that we replace the particle board floor with plywood. We did that, and I was glad that I had known ahead that it would be a possibility. Ron did a superb job, finished on time, and charged a very reasonable amount.
Description of Work: Renovation of our 3/4 bath: new tile flooring and subflooring, sink, faucet, countertop, lighting. Also replaced all 4 sinks and faucets in three other bathrooms.
