After purchasing the deal I had provided my contact information and some dates that would work however I never heard back by the date that was indicated so I called and scheduled an apt for 8/18/14, they were to arrive between 10am-12pm.
I received a call that morning asking if they could come later however I had another service provider coming that afternoon so could not be flexible, they told me to never mind. About 30 mins later I received a call that they were at my home and to open the garage door, when I greeted them there were two young males, friendly and we discussed what work was to be done, I showed them the Angie's List copy, they asked if it was paid for which I replied yes. I indicated there was nothing wrong with the door I was going to be begin using the garage in the next month or so and wanted a tune up and ensure things were in working order, my current car does not fit and the new one will. They proceeded to work and told me they would let me know when they were done.
About 15-20 mins later I heard the van leave, I thought maybe they needed to pick up some parts, about 10 mins later not hearing anything I went down to the garage to check and found a receipt left in the door to the garage. I checked the garage and no one was there however the garage door was left opened.. Needless to say I was surprised and disappointed that they did not check in with me prior to leaving, the only update I received was notes on the receipt stating "the door was in great shape and no further service was needed"..
The door seems to work well and I think they conducted all the checks indicated as part of the tune up however it was a very quick visit and I didn't appreciate them leaving without checking in with me. I indicated that I would use them again however my answer would be maybe as that was not an option.
It was nice that LGD Garage Doors open on Sundays. I called on Friday to set up a Sunday appointment at 7am, but the technician eventually showed up around 12pm after many phone calls. The work was done properly, but I believe that I was overcharged (i.e. $250 for about one hour labor) and the payment collection was very prompt.
We found LGD Garage Door Repair on Angie's List. We needed to fix the garage door at my Mom's house in West Seattle. When I called they said they could send out a man to fix the garage later that same day. I got a call from the repair man, Eli, twice with time of arrival estimates.
Eli was great! He was very familiar with out unusual garage door system. It's a very heavy solid wooden double wide door and the rollers wind in reverse. No problem. He recommended a good plan and gave us options which would cost more, but he didn't press and was fine with what I wanted to have done. Eli was very friendly and explained everything quite well.
I was so pleased with the repair I had him do a roller replacement as well, very good price on that as well. The door is over 60 year old and works like new. I would use LGD again and ask for Eli, he's the cat's meow!
Nevertheless, the doors are old, possibly original from the 70s. Most of the value in this deal to me was in the roller replacement. That's why I bought two of this deal (one for each door). One of the doors is now quieter, but the other one seems just as noisy as before.
To his credit, the technician did advise me on less expensive ways to maintain the door. Still, I didn't feel as though I got much value for the price.
