 + -1 moreOK, so most likely any plumber would have figured out why my basement was smelling like a sewer, but it freaked me out as I was certain a pipe must have broken and there was going to be sewerage spilling out all over the floor soon. When I got to work on Monday, I asked colleagues if they could recommend a good plumber. Bob was highly recommended so I called, had to leave a message and an hour or so later, he called back however I missed his call. When I called him back, told him my problem, he said he was in Barre and would wait for me to zoom home so he could check out the situation right away. He had to wait 20 minutes for me, but was willing to do so. Well, it didn't take him long to determine the seal to the pipes had been lost. With a bit of water, he had the problem solved.and I was much relieved. Yes, a simple solution, however his willingness to check it out immediately even though it meant he would have to wait was so appreciated. And he only charged me $40.00, however I insisted he take $50.00. He is definitely my go-to plumber if ever I need one in the future!
Description of Work: Determined the reason for the sewer smell in my basement and solved it.

 + -1 moreDuring my DIY bathroom remodel we removed the old casing from the baseboard hot water heater. Turned out to be a bigger project than planned. With my schedule and Bob's schedule it took a little while to get him to my house but once we set an appointment he was there on time and was able to finish fixing the heater which was a little more involved than he had anticipated. In addition he did a couple of other smaller projects (installing the toilet and tub fixtures) that I hadn't gotten around to finishing from the remodel. With my not knowing a ton about plumbing he was willing to talk me through what he did and explain some things. I would definitely recommend his services.
Description of Work: Replaced the casing of a baseboard hot water heater and finished miscellaneous other plumbing projects.

 + -1 morePlease see above. I just can't say enough good about him. I like that he is trustworthy and honest. ALot of times we give him the keys so he can work at camp without us having to be with him.
Description of Work: Bob Comstock is awesome. He knows his business, is reliable and honest. He has reasonable rates and he can usually meet my time frame needs. He explains what is wrong and fixes it so it stays fixed! WE use him for our plumbing needs at our home and he is also wiling to go out to our camp. I believe the last time we used him was when we got hit by the spring flood in 2011. Since our basement had been in water, he came down and checked everything out and needed to replace something, can't remember what. He also came back when the floor installers were here to unhitch the bathroom fixtures, then came back to rehitch them all back up. I"m sure there was more to it, but that was an anxious time for usand it's all kind of a haze now. But Bob was available right off for us and also kept himself available for the installers.

Description of Work: I had three little plumbing jobs that needed attention, and I was working on a tight budget. Bob came to the house and fixed the smaller problems right away, then told me what I could do myself to keep the cost down on the remaining one, e.g. where to buy a good used toilet (paid $35 for one that looks and works like new but cost $400 when it was new), and how to shim the flange to keep down associated carpentry & flooring work. He was very flexible and responsive about scheduling, and saved me at least a couple hundred dollars over work other plumbers would have tried to sell me on. He's "my plumber" forever now!

 + -1 moreFirst visit determined that the kitchen faucet could not be fixed but had to be replaced so to call when I had replacement (0ffered to order one if I wished) he did not change for the visit and then returned a day after I called and said I had the replacement to install. He did a great job in minimal time and the charges were very fair. He was very friendly and informative.
Description of Work: Fixed toilet tank (wouldn't stop running) in one bathroom, changed out kitchen sink faucet and braided hoses connecting, installed two shower heads.

Description of Work: I had a leak from the gasket at the bottom of my toilet where the water feeds into it. Mr. Comstock quickly located it, tightened the nut and advised me to reposition my utility shelf so it was not pressing on the flush handle which was what caused the problem. He arrived within 10 minutes after calling to tell me he was available, was here 10 minutes and charged me just $20.
