Great Job Moving and Storage

I bought the Angie's List Deal, $299 for 3 men for 3 hours + truck, for my local move from a 1 BR condo to a 3-level townhome. I called G&J to ask the cost of the packing materials, and if we may provide our own packing materials. This was okay with G&J, although G&J indicated a preference to use its own tape and shrink wrap since G&J movers were familiar with those materials. We provided our own mattress cover (bought from local hardware store) for about half the price, and then just used G&J tape and shrink wrap. Materials came to about $30. G&J arrived within the 2-hour arrival window. G&J explained the services to be performed, the materials that would cost extra and that they would not use any without prior permission, and the additional cost should the move exceed 3 hours. We signed the paperwork and then got started right away. One mover wrapped up furniture while the other two began to transport boxes to the truck. G&J movers were professional and efficient, and best of all, finished within the 3 hours. There were no hidden costs, or travel fees associated with the move. The move went very smoothly and I would use them again.

They were punctual, worked hard and efficiently, and were professional throughout. I have no complaints, and I think they did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend them.

G&J did a great job. They called and requested to move up the start time and were finished within the three hour allotment for the service. It was very straight forward and no surprises from start to finish.

They were very helpful in answering questions over the phone about what size truck we should get, approximately how long our move would take, how the Angie's List coupon worked, etc. Once they arrived on moving day, the crew was very thorough in reviewing the costs and options with us before they got started. Once they started carrying our stuff out to the truck, I was impressed by how careful they were with our furniture. We have a fair amount of IKEA stuff, and they warned us up front that IKEA furniture doesn't always hold up well to moving (which we already knew). Even so, they managed to get everything into the new house with no damage. They also didn't even put so much as a scratch on our walls. This was my first time using professional movers, and I have to say, it was worth every penny.

They were very professional, and I was able to take off driving as soon as they showed up to pack. They ran into bad weather on the trip, and were only a few hours late as a result. Everything was carefully handled, and the only (small) complaint is that they did not pack the wall cords for my phones. They thought the cords belonged to the facility I was moving from. I gave them a B on punctuality - but this was due to the bad weather and was not their fault. I would definitely use them again for any move.

G and J called the day before and about an hour before they arrived to confirm that everything was as scheduled. They arrived on time and worked fast. They were so fast, I still had enough time left over for them to pick up another piece at another location. Even though it was not part of the originally planned move, they were happy to do it and they still finished up within the 3 hour window.

They showed up on time, were very polite and worked hard. They worked the entire time non stop from 930AM until 730PM I give high marks to the team leader Nick! He was very well spoken, polite and explained all costs of the estimate which came out to exactly what was promised. I also give high marks for his crew, they were very polite, friendly and worked hard. I would highly recommend using them for your moving needs.

They arrived early and got started right away. They went over the contract with me and made sure I knew what the extra costs would be. I paid to shrink wrap my sofas and mattress. Be aware, they charge for tape by the roll and they use it very liberally. I ended up paying for 12 rolls of tape and this didn't include taping up my boxes which I had already done. They were polite and very careful with my belongings. The move took longer than I anticipated because they were so careful (they wrapped each lamp in blankets, and did this with artwork, etc) but everything arrived in good shape without damage. I would recommend them without hesitation.

We could not begin to say enough good things about G&J. We used and Angie's List coupon available at the time of booking that was $299 for 3 men for 3 hours or 2 men for 4 hours. We ordered two as we needed to move from our apartment to our new house as well as get things out of a storage unit in Fairfax. The day of our big move was also the day Hurricane Sandy was set to hit. They called us the day before to state that not only would they still be coming, but also that they would be bringing two extra guys at no additional charge to ensure the move went quickly and smoothly. And it certainly did! They had tape and blankets to protect anything needed it - they got us totally out of our 1 bedroom apartment in Capitol Hill and into our home in College Park in just under two hours. They took their shoes off on carpeted areas and even though they obviously wanted to get home and out of the storm they still took the time to put everything where we asked. Our second move went just as smoothly, if with a little less weather interruption. They even worked with us to get our couch down into the basement regardless of the tight squeeze. I usually worry when buying a coupon that service will be compromised because the company will be overloaded but that was certainly not the case here and the service we received was worth 10 times what we paid. We couldn't be happier and have already recommended them to many friends.

These guys were great! They moved during Hurricane Sandy when other movers in the area were canceling. They called when their way and were on-time. I had opted for a bigger 24-ft truck so I wouldn't incur additional moving expenses, but couldn't since a fallen tree from the storm blocked the trucks. They were nice enough to give me a $50 check to offset any additional expense. With the help of friends, we finished in a little over 3-hours with packing materials causing the cost to rise above the $299 coupon. There were very professional, fast and very responsive to my calls and emails. I will definitely use them again.

We bought the $300 for 3 hours of moving services coupon through Angie's List. We weren't moving far and we weren't moving a lot of stuff, so we thought this deal fit our needs perfectly. We called the company first to verify their availability for our move in September. They fit us into the schedule easily and explained their procedures/costs and sent us a checklist to prepare for the move. The day of the move, they called us to confirm the move and showed up right on time (they gave us a window, but they showed up on the early side). Three people got right to work moving our items. Large items like drawers, beds and frames got wrapped up to be careful (wrapping up certain items in celophane/tape costs extra money, but it's well worth it). They handled all things with care and worked extremely efficiently. Loaded up in about an hour. Drove about 10 miles in rush hour to our new place and moved things in quickly, coordinating with us on where we wanted things to go in our new place. In total, the whole move took about 2 hours 45 minutes. We paid about $30-something for extra wrapping and tape on fragile items and tipped them a few extra bucks for their great work. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Easiest move we've ever had.

I would recommend that if you use this moving company, make sure they give you a written (not oral) estimate--in advance--of how long the move will take and how much it will cost. I e-mailed them a list in advance of all of the furniture I had to move and the number of boxes, including the fact that I had to move some things to storage and switch washers and dryers in both places. Although the men took a lot of care to make sure that my things weren't damaged, the company overcharged me. In addition, Alex told me on the phone that the job would take 6 hours, but it took 10.5 hours. So instead of the job costing $600 plus supplies they used, it cost me $1,240. The company also charges a 4% fee if you use a debit or credit card. In my opinion, the company didn't provide enough men to do the job. There were only three men when there should have been four or five. Part of the problem with having only three men is that one man wrapped a lot of my furniture and the other two moved the furniture. But it takes a long time to wrap big pieces of furniture. So much of the time, there were only two men moving the furniture. I think it should be any moving company's goal to do the move as quickly as possible by providing enough men to do the job. I e-mailed the owner about my concerns after the move, but he didn't offer to refund me any money and basically made excuses.

They were easy to schedule with and very responsive. I had to change my move date due to injury and they were very understanding and accommodating. They arrived within the window they set. They were very organized and professional. Got to the house and worked well the entire time. The additional time/cost was my fault because of storage facility issues. Overall very good experience.

I purchased the $300 for 2 guys - 4 hours coupon on Angie's List. They came on time and did a nice job. The movers were friendly enough and helpful. They charge extra for supplies ( I paid $12 for tape) but everything was explained up front and there were no suprises. When they gave me the form to sign the head guy explained it all and said I could take time to read it, so that made me feel good that they were honest and not pushy. They seemed to be careful with all my stuff, nothing was broker or damaged. I was happy with the job they did and would use them again.

These guys were awesome. I'll go in order, the office people were nice, answered the phones when called and were flexible with my needs (I was just flying in on the day of the move). The crew who arrived showed up early, unheard of for movers, and had the strength of super heroes. I was in a real time crunch and was closing to sell the house the next day. They must have been previous masters at tetris as they fit all of my stuff on a single truck load which I though was impossible. One of the guys even helped pack glassware since I was so bad at it. Once we got to the new location they put everything in an upstairs room for storage which meant going up tight stairs and making tight turns with large items. Again, they succeeded in record time. They were all very nice the whole time as well. I'd definitely recommend them to friends.

G&J met me at my storage location. They showed up when they said they would and were very nice and professional. I was worried because I had a great deal of stuff, and I was worried they would complain. But they didn't. They moved things very quickly, and they where a real pleasure to work with and talk to. Most of all they didn't make me feel bad about having so much stuff. I'm actually thinking about inviting the guys to my house warming party if I have one =). They are worth the money and I will use them for whatever moving project I have in the future. =) Thanks guys!!!

Excellent service. Punctual and the two movers worked very dilligently and took great care to not damage any of our things, walls, etc. They expertly packed their truck and our belongings to help ensure the move went smoothly and efficiently. We were very impressed and would recommend this company to anyone!

Overall experience is quite excellent. We had to move in very short time and G&J found the time slot even it was only two days in advance. Arrived in time, did not waste time and as a result all our moving were done in 3 hours! All packing were done carefully and no any piece of furniture were damaged. My appreciation for good job.

These dudes are eastern European soldiers. They did not stop for anything, and as I tried to help, (I'm a 36 year old guy in good shape) I quickly realized, that I was just in the way. Two dudes carried my upright piano which must weigh at least 500 pounds. It actually kind of freaked me out when I saw them do it. I am not fully unpacked, but so far, nothing at all was broken, the last time I moved, when I was a kid with my family, I don't remember how many casualties of moving we lost, but it was a lot of stuff. I was worried about the 16 foot truck, and thought it may take at least 3 or 4 trips, but these guys packed the truck like they were playing a game of Tetris and we fit all my stuff in two truck loads. Things you should know: 1) There are many extra charges but the company is upfront about them before they start. 2) Stuff you pack yourself, make sure you clearly label fragile items and things that cannot be flipped over. I did this, and they followed my instructions perfectly. 3) Stay out of their way, I tried to help but could tell I was messing up their rhythm, then I think they started making fun of me in Russian, but I deserved it. These guys work like an orchestra, everybody has their position and they do not even need a conductor. 4) they take apart and rebuild furniture as needed. frankly, I think they did it better and faster than I could have done it. 5) ONE NEGATIVE: some of their moving blankets stink like h***. Not sure why, but luckily, the smell did not linger on my furniture. I would recommend to them that they clean their blankets more often.

G&J Moving was professional, courteous, and responsive. They contacted me the next day to schedule the move. The manager promised that they would do a "beautiful job" and they did. They arrived at my home at the allotted time which was between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. They asked whether I wanted my cloth furniture shrink wrapped to keep dust off of it from the truck. Of course this is not necessary and takes up time, but it is an option that you can refuse to save time and money. I asked them whether they could pack three bookcases and they did. That took some time, but definitely worth it. I packed the books before for two prior moves, and didn't want that burden again. When we arrive at my new home, they did exactly what I wanted them to do. I directed them to where I wanted the furniture placed and they obligingly did so. Overall, they moved four rooms of furniture and books. I usually move the more personal items including clothing, electronics, food stuff, and bathroom items. But they checked with me to ensure that they had taken everything I wanted them to take to the new destination. The only advice I should give is that you should always watch for missplaced or hidden valuables while the movers are breaking down your furniture.

ervG&J movers scheduled my move very quickly on the day I asked for. They asked for a list of everything I wanted to move and I emailed it to them. They then suggested that instead of a 2 man crew, this work would go faster with a 3 man crew. Given the complexity of the move (from an apartment, get some furniture out of a house, exchange furniture in 2 rooms of the house, and finally move the furniture and boxes into an apartment), I agreed to the addition of a third man. The movers arrived somewhat late, as they had been caught up in traffic in the Beltway, but they phoned about it. They had to park in front of the apartment in order to move the furniture out, and they set up there very quickly. In the apartment, they surveyed the furniture and boxes to be moved and packed up the large screen tv carefully. The three men worked efficiently together in a timely fashion. The movers then drove to the house and arrived promptly, just a few minutes after I arrived. Again they worked quickly and effectively to offload the sofa for bulk trash collection, and then move furniture and boxes from the house onto the truck. They drove to the final destination and, again, moved everything efficiently into the apartment. I was very pleased by the courteous and helpful attitude of all three men, and by how skilled and experienced they appeared to be in moving furniture and belongings. I also noted that having the third man on the crew seemed to be necessary to a smooth functioning and faster move. I only gave them a B because of their being somewhat late. If the ratings allowed it, I would have given them an A- or B+.
