The staff was wonderful and professional. The facility is clean and and quot;homeyand quot;. I do wish that the physical therapists were stricter and would have made him do the exercises instead of letting him complain and opt out when he didn't feel like it.

We have worked very hard with the staff at Greenspring to develop a consistent care plan for my father. Our main point of contact has been the social worker on his floor, who coordinates with the nursing staff, aides, dietician, activities director, physical therapists, occupational therapists and chaplain. The staff have positive attitudes and work hard to keep my father physically and mentally active and engaged, even when he is not that motivated. With such a large staff rotation, an ongoing issue is inconsistent communication between staff and families. There has been inconsistency in points of contact and follow-up with care plans. We have learned to be very proactive in making sure that they follow through on their plans. We have learned that we must be the and quot;squeaky wheeland quot; to ensure the best care. I have a lot of respect for the people who work in this field, as it is a stressful and emotional job. We do feel our father is getting good care, and he feels supported and respected. We have had a few problems with finances and administration. I have NEVER had a phone call returned from the financial office in regard to question on a bill. We are generally unimpressed with the administration, as they seem to be more concerned about protecting themselves from bad publicity (such as being reported to senior care ombudsman) than resolving issues. The high cost of the care at Greenspring should warrant better overall administration oversight. It's not a perfect system, and Greenspring is quite expensive, but we do feel our father is safe and in good care. We attribute that to the people who work with him the closest, such as the very dedicated aides and nurses. Families must advocate strongly for their loved one so that there are consistent communication and care plans in place.

My mother was with them for long term care. We also used their capital hospice in addition to that. She passed away about a year and half ago. My sister paid the bills, so I don't remember the price. She took care of it at the end of it, but it was not cheap. It was very nice though, and I hope I would be able afford it. She had the same nurses for seven years, and I was pretty impressed with that.
