It was fine. I didn’t have any problems. They knew what they were talking about and what they were doing. Their pricing was not great. They weren’t too clear on the pricing and it was too much for the work that they did. The people were okay. I would look at other companies before I call them back.
Description of Work: I used EV & AS Design to replace a line inside one of the boilers.

Overall EV&A designs did well on our bathrooms. We had a couple hiccups at the beginning getting tile ordered, but all and all everything went well with the demo and installation. The only issues we had came at the end, and I think most of the problems were due to the tile guy. I think the overall finishing work is what needed to be improved upon. About the day before everything was completed I noticed that the tile in one of our newly re-done bathrooms had paint streaked on it, in SEVERAL places. What we figured out was that the tile guy they hired had PAINTED OVER the tiles he had written on in ink/permanent marker. I was furious and called Eric right way. He came out the next day and fixed most of the areas (I found a couple of marks later, but no big deal.) He actually fired the guy and made no excuses. The tile guy stated that he had painted the marks over with tile paint... surprisingly the exact same color as our interior wall paint, with the paint can still being the bathroom. Luckily I was not in the same room as the tile guy when he said this. We did have a few "tweaks" with our master suite sink, but third time was the charm. The walls were not skimmed and painted as well as they should have as when we really looked at them a few weeks later. A lot of goopey streak marks and some of the walls seem to have pox-like mark areas. Maybe that was our fault for not taking out ALL the dry wall and saving some of the old, but I know I could have painted the walls better than who they hired. Hence, painting was a downfall for me. As I said, I think the finishing is what needs to be improved upon. I know they did not paint and they did not do the tile, but they should have noticed all these items before they left the job. They are the ones who give the final check mark and should be the most critical before handing over the keys to the owner. I would like to say that the owners were VERY nice, professional, and personable. They responded ASAP to our telephone calls, questions, etc. They sat down with us to go over their ideas... and they had great ideas. As stated above, we would use them again on certain items. They did a great job on the 2 recess lights we had installed when we replaced the ceiling that was under the old bathroom (we had leaking issues, hence bathrooms re-modeled.) Just need to be on top of their work, which I think anybody who has gone through a major demo will learn.
Description of Work: Had two bathrooms completely re-done. Had 2 recessed lights installed and part of our basement ceiling re-done due to water damage from our old bathroom above the basement.

They were extremely professional and on time. They kept their word. It was a very pleasant experience dealing with them. I bought the appliances and they charged for labor. I am going to use them again.
Description of Work: I used EV & As Design to do a complete remodel of my kitchen. They tore out all the old cabinets and installed new lighting. They painted the walls inside and installed cabinets. They had to redo the piping for the water for the sink. They installed all the appliances.

They were very good. We found them on Angie’s List. They were the first ones to come up on Angie’s List when we looked at. That’s why we called them. They gave me a good estimate. Eric is the contact person. They quoted me about $10000. They were very reasonable. They were much better than some of the others. It was pretty good. We were very happy about it and they gave us a great estimate. They were very friendly and nice people. I would rate them really high. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for us and so, we didn’t use them. Otherwise, we would have used them. Their responsiveness was pretty good and they were always punctual. I would definitely use their services in the future too. In fact, I even told them that I need some remodeling of the house done. They would come and do it for me whenever I have time since I just opened the new office.
Description of Work: We received an estimate from EV & A’s Designs about two months ago for remodeling a whole office and it’s like a condominium commercial place. It included taking a few walls down and installing the beams.

E V & A'S DESIGN (former name of Residential and Commercial design) did an excellent job. A year later my house is still looking like new. I would recommend this organization to anyone. Very professional team. Huge thank you to Erik and the guys who worked on my house external repairs.
Description of Work: E V & A'S DESIGN were great. I had to replace wood trim on the front of the house :entire bay window box (bump - out) on first and second levels of the townhouse, portico both columns replacement and a fasia board and replace gutter over front entry-way and downspout over front entry-way top level. In addition paint all trim - the entire bump -out, front porch and both rake boards to HOA color requirements (match to the existing color). The stimate for the work was 2-3 days.

We really liked them. They were very professional. We are still shopping around to get the work done. We wanted to see the cost to do each part of the work. We thought it was a little bit too high but we are still checking around. We would definitely do business with them. They were very honest and very knowledgeable. They picked up right away what we wanted to do with the additional cabinets. They were very professional and knew what they were doing.

They were very open to our suggestions. We tended to be fairly specific. They certainly wanted to do it and ensure that we were happy in the end. They were very nice. One of the men who had been working for them did not seem like he quite had the direction that he needed. The others would come and show him what to do. I don?t recall how much it cost but it was reasonable. They certainly wanted to do it right and that was very helpful. They were incredibly punctual. They tried to stick to the timeline. When we wanted to change the stuff, they made it clear that they would not be able to meet the timeline. They would check if that was okay. They would ask us if we wanted them to come over during the weekend. We will use this company in the future.
Description of Work: E V & A 'S Design did some work for us in summer. They replaced a fan in the upstairs bedroom and pulled out the carpet in the basement and replaced that. We had a flood. They pulled out the paneling and replaced it on one wall and replaced the molding. They used tiles to make a back splash in our kitchen.

I rate EV&A highly for their honesty and responsiveness, willingness to fix problems, and fact that they were about 1/3 of the highest estimate we received. The roofing, painting, and gutters went extremely well. Overall, so did the garage extension, which included framing and installing a new garage door larger than the old one. As long as Eric or Vernon was on-site directly supervising, work went well. However, some of the details weren't attended to toward the end of the project, when they were at other sites and their workers took some shortcuts. For example, a new downspout was connected into an old drainage line which had been identified to be dug up and replaced, however was not until after we pointed it out as completely blocked after a rainstorm. The brick and mortar colors/styles used on the new extension was not what we requested, and the mortar work appears a bit sloppy. The newly poured section of the concrete floor in the garage slants slightly so that there is a gap at the bottom of the new door at one end by about an inch. So if details bother you, EV&A may not be your best bet, however they provide good value for money on the major parts of a project.
Description of Work: The project involved extending the garage, pouring new concrete driveway and front walk, reroofing entire house, new gutters/downspouts, and painting the entire house. The reroofing also included replacement/shoring up of beams and underlayment, as we knew we had areas of rot/leaks underneath the shingles.

The high winds blew a section of siding off of the uppermost part of townhome (3 floors from the ground). I contacted Eric and it was fixed the same day. He was very responsive and very professional. He noted the siding had come loose from the gutter to which it had been attached which is why it blew off. His crew not only replaced the siding but fixed the gutter and ensured the remaining siding was secure. They also removed the broken siding that was lying on the ground.
Description of Work: Replaced approximately 16'X7' of siding on my townhome

They were on time, and they gave us a good price and gave us lots of good examples. They were also nice and courteous. Someone else used them and they thought they were great. Maybe there was a circumstance that caused our communication to cease. I did not attempt to call them back after the communication stopped.
Description of Work: Looking for bathroom remodel. They gave us an estimate, that was priced well. We started talking about permits and they stopped communicating with us. I'm not sure if they thought we were going to be too much trouble or what the circumstance was.

They were very flexible to work with and very responsive. They allowed us to provide whatever we wanted to (we got the cabinets and counters at Lowes and carpet from Fairfax Floors). They provided the architect and obtained the permits required. They did an amazing, top quality job in the time they promised, and boy does it look great!
Description of Work: We recently remodeled our basement. We contacted several area vendors from Angie's List and met with them several times.Eric and Vernon met with us and were very careful in planning out our project. They gave us a fair price and we selected them to do the work. The work involved creating a bedroom, an office, a rec room with wet bar, and a home theater.

I selected EV & A after soliciting bids from three companies that I saw on Angie's List. They seemed the most reasonably priced and my husband had a good rapport with them. Let me add that Eric and Vernon are two of the nicest men you will ever meet. They started a day late because of permit issues, but once they started first on the garage, their team worked quickly. Things moved along rapidly, then came to a stop for a few days and we didn't see anyone. We later found out they were waiting for an inspection--okay. The main guy working on it was very good, but I had to argue a few points with him based on what we wanted vs. how he thought it should be. Eric later profusely apologized for the other man's attitude. But, the work overall was very well done and we are very happy with it. The windows and siding were done over a weekend when we were out of town. We didn't watch the work, but our neighbors kept an eye on them and said they were very careful and repaired some places under the eaves that had rotted. The end result was beautiful!! The gutters were installed one day while I was out playing golf, also beautiful! All done with no inconvenience to me, even better. The front door was done later when it came in, we went with fiberglass that is stained to look like wood. The installation went fine, but none of the guys had any experience with the stain, so we were all reading the directions, trying to figure out the application. It turned out nice overall, but I see a few spots that I will have to touch up. On to the kitchen, I could write a short book about this, but here is the short version. Our existing kitchen wasn't too bad, it already had a granite counter and some newer appliances, but had the original(1960's)cabinets, painted. So we just wanted new cabinets in the original footprint. There was also a soffit above the cabinets that we wanted to remove so the cabinets could go higher. While taking out the old cabinets, the granite existing counter broke, they said they would replace it. When they started moving the pipes around, it took 3 or 4 days because a different guy would come each day and tear out what the previous guy did and re-do it (too many cooks in the kitchen!). When that finally was done, they started installing cabinets, many of which were the wrong size (though custom measured and ordered through their guy). A lot of cutting and jiggering had to be done so they would fit. A couple of things had to be re-ordered at the cabinet guy's expense. The end product looks great, but watching the process was painful. OVERALL, I am happy with all the work done and all the men who worked here were very kind and courteous. Beware of Mr. Hung, I affectionately call him the "King of Rig", he can also be sloppy (he got some of that purple plumbers glue got on my brand new window frame and I can't get it off). Again, Eric and Vernon are great and will bend over backwards to please.

They cleaned up well. There was a lot of mold. They emailed pictures of what it was looking like. They went beyond the call of duty. Their price was excellent. It was hard to believe we could find someone that would do all of that for us.
Description of Work: They painted, tiling, laminate flooring, plumbing work, and renovated the bathrooms and faucets. They went out and selected what they thought would match for the faucets, hardware, and toilets for the bathrooms. They did the decorating too. They emailed me photos to choose from, since I was coordinating this for my elderly parents from another state.

They were very professional and did expert quality work. They were very honest and their prices were competitive and reasonable. They were punctual with all that they had scheduled to do. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: They tore out an existing bathroom, extended it by 3 feet, redid the plumbing and installed all new fixtures. They added a walk in closet, removed an existing bar and turned an unfinished attic into a room. They also finished a veranda by re-doing the floor with porcelain ceramic tile and added arches. It took about 1 month to complete.
