I called Bob's Home Repair and Remodeling to get an estimate. He asked to call me back. Days later Tom Midgett, who said he worked with Bob, called to set up an estimate.for the entire job. After the estimate we emailed back and forth with questions. After comparison with two other companies we signed a contract that Tom brought over to the house. We didn't have to put any money up front which seemed strange. Work was to start Wednesday, 9/3. The under house work was done over three days, except for the crawlspace door. There were many comings and goings, and I was not advised as to what exactly was happening. That part of the job was finished Friday. The dehumidifier stopped working on the weekend, but it was fixed the next week and has been working fine since. The porch was to be torn up Friday, 9/5. It turned out that the concrete saw could not cut through because the concrete was too thick. The subcontractors needed a jack hammer that was being used on another job. They were to come back Monday, 9/8, even though rain was due. They expressly said rain would be no trouble because the porch was covered. Late afternoon they did call about not coming and said they would be there the next day. No show that next day. Finally Wednesday the concrete job was started and completed. They said Tom said he would pick up the broken concrete later and to pile it on the driveway. It was not removed until the following week. Then another sub had to install the bricks under the door. More time. The crawlspace door was the last thing to be completed. It was done 10/2 and we weren't informed it was done; I just kept waiting for someone to show. Bob phoned the next morning wanting his money. He didn't have our address! The was the first time to meet him and only the second time I had spoken to him. We didn't see Tom after the initial contract signing. And he never came to the job site. Bob's needs to be more professional in his business dealings. Hiring subcontractors is fine, but they need to know what is going on by being given a legible copy of the contract to see address and phone numbers.
Description of Work: Installed and pinned 6 mil plastic installed in crawlspace and installed dehumidifier. All vents were sealed and new crawlspace door was installed. Sagging porch was jack hammered and new concrete poured, leveled. Bricks reset at front door under threshold.
