MERCHANTS TIRE & AUTO CENTER

We brought it to another shop who did more work for less money. Overpriced, unprofessional, and inexperienced. They messed up the car and now they are going to charge me $800. They?re working on a flat rate and they had a mechanic working on it that didn?t understand that this would cause a possible failure of another component; which this car had never overheated before. We brought it in to replace the motor mount and we couldn?t even get it home before it over heated; and I only live a mile from where the shop is. I asked them to look over the vehicle because my wife was going to take it down to a meeting in North Carolina so I wanted to make sure the car was in good shape, and this is the way they gave it back to us. She could have been between here and North Carolina, and there is nothing out there, in a terrible position. The money is one thing, the poor business practice is another, but the most important thing to me was to make sure my wife was not stranded there. They blew me off. The manager tried to call me and explain himself but it was too little too late, and actually kind of pitiful. Different shops, because this is a dealership, maybe better but this one was horrible. Overpriced and poor work. It doesn?t get any worse than that. Especially when they didn?t stand by their work. And the fact that the corporation totally blew me off. You?d think that they would want to get on top of this, but it?s like they didn?t even care ?oh why don?t you just talk to the store manager and let them take care of it?. It was just like a kid standing around kicking his shoes ?aw shucks so sorry that happened to you.? Oh yeah, what are  you going to do about it?

They couldn't do the inspection because they didn't have a guy that could do it. They had to go somewhere else and get a part. The price is fair. They have done fine by us. It usually take the truck in the day before, so it takes 24 hours.

Replaced 4 new tires and performed a front end alignment.

I requested the services I needed at the front desk. There were no prices posted on the board, which should have been a warning to me. After sitting and watching TV for about forty minutes, I realized that I had never been given a price or written estimate. When I asked for a price, the guy at the counter started reciting prices from memory at which time I asked what my total cost would be. He finally went and got a written quote, and I couldn't believe the prices they were charging . They even went so far as to try to overcharge me for a part. If I didn't desperately need to have those services performed, I would have walked out. I never expected to pay that much money for such routine maintenance.

Merchants Tire & Auto Center did a great job. They did good quality work, and their customer service was great. They gave me the perfect estimate all the way to the dollar. I have been using them for sometime now, and I wouldn't use anyone else.

I have used Merchants Tire & Auto Center many times before. The manager is just excellent. He has amazing people skills, and the crew that works for him is just as good. Their prices are fair and reasonable, and I have never had any problems with them. Sometimes they are a little slow to get you in, but that is just due to how much business they take in, and once they have you in, you are out in a flash.
