My Plumber Heating Cooling & Electrical

I work with Joe Leffler and I always ask for him. He came out for an inspection on my water softener / sanitizer. During October of 2013, I was not having as much hot water as usual. I called him and told him the symptoms. He came right out and opened the panel and knew right away that the coils had burnt out and I needed a new water heater. The fact he was able to show me the problem and explain the problem meant a lot. Just recently, I wanted the faucets outside replaced. He came out and did that in a timely manner.

My Plumber (Northern Virginia) dispatched a technician to my home the same day that I called for the estimate to do work on the gas line behind my gas range/stove. The company called me at times to let me know how far away the plumber was and when he was expected to arrive. When the technician (Shawn D.) arrived, I explained to him what I wanted him to do, and after a careful assessment of my range and surroundings, he was able to give me an estimate. He walked me through the details of what the job entailed and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. Then he was able to schedule an appointment to do the job for the next day. On the day of the actual job, someone from the company called me prior to his arrival to let me know he was on the way. He showed up ready to work. He finished his work in a reasonable amount of time. I was very impressed with his professionalism, his upbeat attitude, his friendliness, and his competence. Bravo to My Plumber and to Shawn!

We discovered that there had been water pooled around the basement drain. It was gone, but the evidence was there. Later that day the water was back. I mopped it up and called My Plumber because they could come the same day. The tech snaked out the line and we thought it was fixed. Next day, water was back, so they returned and videoed the line and discovered the problem out front. They had been scheduled to video anyway, as part of their service. They dug up the front yard, and the hole looked at least 9 feet deep. A big job. They first moved a large holly and several azaleas and smaller plants before driving in the heavy equipment. Everyone was very nice and very professional. They really tried not to damage too much, but with the need to dig so deep and to drive equipment over a wet garden and lawn, it was a mess. I was very impressed that they removed the top layer of decaying mulch and topsoil and replaced it when the job was done. I fully expected to see the top of my gardens a mass of red clay. I had purchased a lot of topsoil long ago, and it was fairly deep. While the topsoil layer is not deep anymore where the main hole was, at least it was not just a layer of red clay when the job was done. They covered the area in the garden that would hold the dirt from the hole with plastic, which did a lot to preserve my topsoil and mulch. They replanted the big holly and were willing to replant the rest, but I have extensive gardens and preferred to have my helper and I do that work. We re-mulched all of the gardens at that time. The weather was not the best to be working outdoors, and they worked late into the darkness for two nights to get this done. We had water most of the time when they were working, and all night when they were gone after the first day. We had this same job done in 1998 by another company. My Plumber was much more professional, and most importantly, to a non pro like me, looked safer. They braced the dirt walls of the hole as they worked. Only sounds logical, right? But the group in 1998 did not do it and had to pull one of their workers out of a small cave in. Yikes!! Nice job and nice people. They warned that the land would settle some, and after this weekend's heavy rain, it has. I will just rake off the mulch and add more topsoil.

Without a hitch. However price quoted for a new water heater was twice what other A listed plumbers quoted for top of line 80 gal heater.

Plumber arrived promptly and on time. Identified leaks on faucet and disposal. Explained options - leaks were small but noticible - both faucet and disposal were older than 10 yrs. Given multiple choices to replace faucet (model in faucet was no longer being made) and matched to kitchen décor. Replacement garbage disposal was a "higher-end" unit and a good portion of the total cost. The existing drains/traps had to be removed to accommodate the new disposal unit. The kitchen drain was upgraded to include a trap (not present on the current installation) that did silence the "noise" of the other drain when being used. The plumber promptly cleaned up when complete. The kitchen cabinet was actually cleaner than when he arrived. An overall stellar job! The existing disposal unit and faucet were removed and not placed in household trash.

He came with a professional toilet snake (much better than my inexpensive one) and it worked after three rotations. At our request he offered to put in a new TOTO commode but it was too expensive so we decided not. Long discussion about why it backed up. 35 years old, this is main toilet used by family and visitors, has built-up stuff over the years that even a vigorous plunging would not clear.

I would highly recommend service with My Plumber. Mark Kessinger helped us figure out why our furnace was not producing heat. On his first visit, he diagnosed that we needed a new filter and cleaned the flame sensor. It worked for another month. When if failed again, we called My Plumber. I was pleased to see that Mark was sent to our home again. His familiarity with the unit helped expedite the troubleshooting. When he deduced that it might be a faulty high limit safety switch, rather than having us wait another day, Mark found a nearby distributor, purchased the part, and returned to my home within 30 minutes. His diligence to the job helped us quickly determine that a new furnace was needed. With bad winter storm on the horizon, My Plumber was able to send Tony and Derrick the next day to install the new furnace. They worked for several hours and met every expectation of quality service. My wife and 2 daughters appreciated how quickly they restored the heat in our home.

My Plumber spent the whole time trying to sell me an ADA toilet, because I'm 66. And it was like an insult. He kept calling me back about this raised toilet. I said, "I can sit on a regular toilet. Will you stop?" He was trying to sell me stuff. The garbage disposal cost me a fortune. I wasn't happy with them. I won't use them again. There was nothing wrong with their work, but it was the salesmanship was what you saw through everything. My garbage disposal had just been leaking and I have questions about whether it really needed to be replaced and could have just been fixed. He did the job fine, but I didn't have a good feeling about him. I didn't trust him.

They worked well. They did have to come twice due to some issues with putting the unit back together but other than that it went well.

The stems for the tub were not on the truck, so the technician had to go to a supply store to locate and there was a charge incurred for that transportation. On Monday, 12/30/13, the new stems were installed but after the faucet repair failed, he then checked the water pressure and it registered too high. I was informed that the PRV was not working and had to be replaced. I agreed to purchase a new faucet and have him install it and for the PRV to be replaced. He agreed to return on Thursday, 1/2/14, to perform the work. The technician was very professional, knowledgeable and explained in detail the problems and remedies needed.

Arrived on time and was very polite. Surveyed the faucets and valves to be replaced. But I nearly fell over with the quote of over $1400! That included a senior discount of $100! The faucets were leaking and I wanted to get this job done. So against my better judgment, I went ahead with the work. He did an excellent job. Very professional. No issues with that. But the total parts from Home Depot would total $80.00 for the two frost proof faucets, two cutoff valves and 6 ft of 1/2 inch copper pipe and fittings. That a lot for labor given he was only hear for two hours, even if he charged me double for the parts! He used my ladder and used my wood screws to secure the clamps he removed. Needed to borrow my extension cord to drill out the holes for the faucets. It would have been more professional for them to give me the quote over the phone. Instead, they show up with a minimum $80 charge, then give you the quote. It didn't take any calculation. It appeared to be a set price. I sometimes think they ask about the senior discount just to take advantage of us.

It is in the basement so it was all concrete. He did a great job and it was perfect. It was quite an undertaking to take it all apart and they did it quick and it was a reasonable price. It was a good job and he did the detective work to figure out what it was. It was very thorough. They were very reliable and they did a professional job. They arrived looking and acting professional. The price was fair. I am waiting on them to arrive today to do another plumbing job.

it was a 2 hour job and the way over charged me as they knew I was in a tight spot.. The job described wasn't done meaning they didn't put my yard back ; grade the dirt nor reseed it.. but after checking prices after I repaired what they said was an emergency it wasn't . I feel they took advantage of the situation I was in.. I would not recommend them. look around there is alot better prices out there.. don't make the mistake I did... now IM out over $7000

Initially, the response was good. The plumber was here within a couple hours on a Friday evening. Thinking that such a simple job as replacing a shower mixing valve, I left and had my wife stay and supervise the repair. The repairman came and took a couple hours to take the shower apart (took me 15 minutes) and ascertain that in fact, the mixing valve was not operating. He told my wife he didn't have the proper parts and didn't think that Lowes would have it either and would have to be ordered. He said he would be back on Monday to fix after getting the part. It is now Friday a week later and we have not heard anything back from these people....unacceptable!

When the provider inspected the unit, we were informed that we had not changed the water softner attached to the unit and that the unit had to be drained and it would cost $156 to drain the unit. I asked the provider how would we have known that the softner needed to be changed if there was no date on the unit. All other units in our home are dated so we know when to change them. If would have been helpful if there had been a date on the unit as all other units have a date posted so we would have known when to change the softer in this particular unit. I asked if the charge could be waiver since there was not a date on the unit and was told "NO". I called the provider and asked to speak with a manager none were available. I asked for a return call and received none. Unfortunately, we still have a service contract with them until it expires but I will no longer recommend MyPlumber to anymore of our neighbors or friends. Shame on them!!

We have used them for several jobs. They are always professional and knowledgeable. They show up on time and confirm each appointment.They are on the expensive side, but I feel that they are worth it. They do everything right.

They did a very good job. They are a little more expensive but I keep using them because they always do a great job.

They found the leak, but did not stop it. I had a lot of problems with them. They were putting charges on my card for services that had not been done. I contacted American Security, but they did not hear anything from the company, so they just credited my account. I had to have someone else come out to fix the problems.

Though they were very responsive on the phone, they had to reschedule the appointment two time, over three days, not a good sign when your AC is out. When their repairman arrived he was professional and courteous. He diagnosed that our system needed to be replaced. Then the sales started. The repairman encouraged us to join their VIP program (uncertain of the name) as that would give us a 10% off the replacement. I believe it was $30/month, for a minimum of six months. We foolishly agreed to the VIP program, and scheduled a time for someone to estimate the cost to replace the system. About a week later the salesmen came out. He estimated it would be about 12k to replace our systems with Bryant equipment. The salesman was courteous, but seemed shocked when we wanted to get another bid for a 12k repair. We contacted a second company (Shaw) that concurred with the assessment that our system needed to be replaced. However their estimate was almost 3k less for superior equipment. If you contact My Plumber for a costly repair I would highly suggest you get a competing bid.

I barely got off the phone requesting service than I received a call informing me the technicians were within 20 minutes of arrival. The technicians were very courteous and professional and immediately got to work to unclog the drain. From the time I initially called to completion it was less than 2 hours! Incredible service and best of all the drain is cleared. Thanks My Plumber!

My dishwasher is dying. I'm not sure how old it is, but it came with the house and could be original, poss. 10-20 years old, and it stopped draining Saturday evening. I tried to clear it myself, couldn't clear the blockage, so I called My Plumber Sunday morning. I've always had good service with them in the past. This time, I got Bert (sp?), who was there within an hour and was respectful, professional, and personable. He put on booties, which showed respect for my house-I like that. He was quick to look at the issue and diagnosed it for me as a plugged drain pipe, which would require pulling the machine, disconnecting the disposal, and clearing the pipe. I happen to know the way the previous tenants installed the machine ( it is too low) means it would require additional work to remove it-either pulling up part of the floor or the countertop. He seemed rather apologetic about the high cost, since the price would be nearly $200. Having priced new washers already, I declined the service, since it doesn't seem cost effective to spend so much on the old unit when I could replace it with a new one. Since replacement will also require removing several wood floor boards or the countertop, and we've been discussing either new floors or new counters, we may just go for new marble tops, too. I like My Plumber because so far, whenever I call, I get prompt service from their plumbers, they're professional, courteous, and the work gets done quickly. I only wish they didn't charge an $80 service fee for showing up, but I understand you want something for your effort, even if no work is performed. And I like the fact they'll show up promptly, even on a Sunday.

Server tech was prompt, professional, neat, wore covers on shoes and dropped paper on floor to bring equip in the house, explained how new installs worked and told me the number to call if I have any questions. I signed up for the service plan on this visit-they will come 2x yr to check heat/air, priority service and discounts on calls.

No matter what, every time the technician comes out, they always find an issue and want around $400-600 to "fix it". I have never had a time when they just did the check up.

They spoke very little English and came unequipped. In the end they did everything, but it was difficult to communicate what needed to be done.

Went fine . No problems. Very professional and courteous.
