UPS is typically uncooperative in making deliveries. On their first attempt at delivery, they left a door tag because the package required a signature. This had always been a problem I've had with UPS because their rules make it almost impossible to make changes that would result in a successful delivery. The back of the back of the tag allows you to designate a neighbor who can sign for the package. I listed two neighbors; my next door neighbor and another neighbor whose house is 20 feet from where the driver would have to park his truck. Both neighbors were home all day, but UPS did not deliver. They told me that only one address is allowed on the tag, so they didn't attempt delivery at either neighbor because I broke their rules. I have lived at the same address for 25 years and it has always been a problem getting deliveries from UPS. I've had experiences with U.S.P.S., FedEx, Airborne, DHL, and Lasership, and all of them are better and more customer service oriented than UPS. In a few cases I've gone to the shipper's service center to pick-up a package. The only place where I've seen customer service staff raising their voice and mistreating customers is UPS, and I've seen that kind of behavior every time I visited a UPS service center. Every time I have a package delivery by UPS that requires a signature, it's a teeth nashing, nail biting, mind numbing ordeal that defies all logic. All of the other services are relatively painless. Even when a signature is not required, delivery is not guaranteed. I've had drivers refuse to deliver on the first attempt because they decided it wasn't safe to leave the package; UPS leaves that to the driver's discretion. Then, they didn't leave it on the second attempt, again, because they considered it unsafe. They finally left the package on the third attempt even though there was no change in the conditions that would have made it safer to leave the package. Of all the services I've experienced, the only one where packages were lost or stolen in transit, left at the wrong address, or the driver forged my signature for a package is UPS. Once they were unable to find the address, so they sent a notice to the very same address they couldn't find; U.S.P.S. had not trouble finding the address to deliver the notice. UPS is the worst. For some unknown reason, UPS decided to make a fourth and a fifth attempt at delivering my package. They called the fourth attempt a first attempt and the fifth attempt a third attempt; in addition to being unable to deliver, they are unable to count. On the fourth delivery attempt the driver decided not to try to deliver to my neighbor again. However, this time my neighbor saw the driver and tried to intercept him. The driver told him that I was the only one who could sign for the package despite the instructions on the door tag that said my neighbor could sign for it. UPS explained to me that their door tags don't include the delivery option where only the receiver can sign, so they check off the most similar option even though they won't deliver according to those terms. The merchant says that my neighbor should be able to sign for me. At this point, the merchant is waiting to receive the package back from UPS so they can send it with another carrier. UPS is holding the package for an extra two days because they made two more delivery attempts. I hope they don't make any more delivery attempts; I might never get my package.
Description of Work: They were supposed to deliver an online purchase. The cost was paid by the merchant.

We ordered two products from Apple in which they used both Federal Express and UPS for their delivery services. We work during the day and are not home. Federal Express delivered the first package and left a note on our door to sign so they could leave it at our doorstep. That is exactly what we did. UPS was then chosen by APPLE to deliver the second product (1/5 the value of the first product delivered by FedEx). UPS made a first attempt and left a "UPS InfoNotice" on our door stating "The sender required a signature at the time of delivery". Fine. We then left a note on the door to deliver after 5 P.M. Second notice posted on our door stated they would return before 5 P.M. again. The deliver driver completely ignored our note. I then called UPS "customer service" in which they told me there was nothing they could do about the delivery. I then requested a supervisor in which he said I could drive to the facility during specific hours which just happen to coincided with our work schedules to pick-up the package. This facility is over one hour away in traffic on a good day and we'd have to take-off work to pick-it-up. I told him that was not possible and he then told me they would need to ship it back to Apple or I could go online and pay a fee to request a different delivery time. Are you kidding me? We will no longer use UPS for any of our delivery needs.

I do not like their services. They throw my packages at my front door. I have spoken to a manager about this issue and he told me to not worry about it because the packages are insured. I don't like someone leaving a package without knocking at the door or ringing the door bell. I have a big complaint and I am not happy with their service. They have been rude to me and I have a negative attitude towards them.

I typically send large envelopes or small boxes through UPS for my work. I have not had any issues, it usually works fine. I think it is a fair price. Everything is usually on time.

They have been pretty good with me. I order a lot of stuff. I like that I can track my package. One time I had someone leave a package on my steps. They did not ring the doorbell. Otherwise, they are okay. Not ringing the doorbell and just leaving it on the steps and leave, I do not think that is very good. I think they should try to ring the doorbell. I would use them again.

It was a horrible experience.
Description of Work: Preparing to depart Iraq, I shipped all of my military gear to my wife who was stationed in South Carolina. I was told last minute I would be attending a class to further my career in the Army and would need it within a week of arriving back home, and that the Army could not put it into their connex (storage container) for shipping because it would be months before we got them. I arrived home, and wanted to have my wife ship the gear, but instead I got some on loan from people who came back with me and left it in SC for the time being. I attended the class, and was authorized to take leave after. I went to SC to get my wife and dog, and ship my gear home to our new apartment since I would be driving my Hyundai Tiburon back to El Paso, TX. I shipped my gear around the 9th of October without insuring it, I was told many times by the two different places I went to ship it that UPS does not leave packages out if a resident is not home, and that it would be left with the office of the apartment complex if it needed to be. I had one prior experience with UPS where they did this, so I had no reason to doubt it. I shipped my gear, three green duffel bags and a large brown box and expected it to get there when they said. After driving from Fort Mill, SC to El Paso, TX I was quite burnt out but extremely happy that I was home and well. I arrived on the 18th of October, 2010. A few days went by, and after not having received our packages yet we called UPS to inquire about it. They informed us that our packages were delivered on the 14th of October and left at our front door step in an apartment complex. Coming back from Iraq is a strange experience, but getting a nice apartment in a good neighborhood isn't an easy thing to do considering the amount of people that come back at once. We immediately started an investigation, asking neighbors if anyone had seen anything. One of them had told us that on the 14th of October they delivered three green duffel bags and left them at our front door. That the next day, the brown box came and the green duffel bags where still there. The UPS person dropped off the box, leaving it at our front door still seeing the three green duffel bags. UPS security managers have told us that it is against policy for a driver to leave a package at an apartment complex, but at houses they are allowed to. That it is left up to driver discretion. UPS refuses to pay anything, other than a total of $400 for the loss of almost $9,000 in military gear. I have in my hand a statement from the Army saying that I must pay the full amount of the gear lost. The brown box had every personal document that was pertinent to myself and my family, including social security cards, birth certificates, my car title, all of my banking records and checkbooks, my wife's citizenship paperwork, and all of our medical records. There were some spare items in there, such as shoes, DVD's, and CD's. At this moment, UPS still refuses to pay any amount to me. The phone number to the UPS person that was trying to take care of this matter is disconnected, and I'm still up a creek without a paddle. I would never use this company again, every person I talk to I tell to never use UPS again.

I paid them $20 to send the tickets next day air so that my clients would have them for the football game on Sunday. It was supposed to be a guaranteed delivery by 10:30 am the very next day, and my clients didn't receive the tickets until Monday morning after the football game. I spent $350 scalping tickets and wasn't even able to sit with my clients. They embarrassed me with my clients and I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: I mailed an envelope with Redskins/Cowboys game day tickets on Thursday.
