UNREASONABLE, UNEXPLAINED DELAYS: The estimated completion was 3 weeks from the start of work. It took them over 4 months from the time we signed the contract until they CLAIMED they were done, and that doesn't include the time they needed to revisit and correct poor workmanship. Their workers would disappear for a week or more at a time and I would never know when they were coming back. In the meantime, several rooms in my house were unusable, which created considerable hardship for my family. The contract says there may be delays due to material availability or weather, but all of the excuses combined cannot account for their chronic absenteeism. LIGHT INSTALLATION: The exterior light fixture they installed flickers from time to time. I emailed them about it on more than one occasion several months ago. They said they would take care of it, twice, but they never actually showed up to make the repair when they said they would. According to the contract, this problem should have been resolved under the warranty. TRIM: They removed a piece of trim and when they reinstalled it, they did it incorrectly so now the closet door in one of my bedrooms won't shut. INSTALLED WRONG SIZE WINDOW: They installed a window in my basement that was too narrow for the opening, which left a large gap around the edges that they just packed with foam and caulk. After I pointed out that it looked terrible they covered the exposed foam with plastic trim. They said that the window size was not available at Home Depot and they would have needed to order a custom window, which would have cost a couple hundred dollars more. The smart thing to do would have been to talk to me about it before installing a window that is the wrong size. I would have been willing to pay a bit more to get it done right, rather than fast and wrong. (Actually, it wasn't done fast either. The installation was delayed by weeks and the window is ALSO the wrong size.) PAINTING: When they paint, they can usually get the middle of the wall right, but when they get to a light fixture or door or window or built-in bookcase they get paint on the trim. They never use tape to get crisp edges. All of the places they painted in my house have wavering, inconsistent lines. There are multiple paint smudges on the white window/door/bookcase trim. I raised this issue with them multiple times and they made repeated attempts to correct the problem, but they could never seem to get it right. This is not the sort of "workman like" quality that was promised in the contract. I have painted rooms in my home and done a much better job, more quickly, and with no training. GARBAGE: When they departed they left a trail of trash and debris. For months I was finding construction debris, energy drink cans, candy bar wrappers, random work gloves, cans of paint, and pieces of scrap wood around my house. DRYWALL: They left a large gap between the drywall and the skylight they installed. They were going to leave it that way, until I asked them to fix it. They also left numerous marks in the joint compound on walls in my bathroom that they just painted over. I pointed out that it needed to be fixed to their quality assurance rep during his first inspection, but it was not fixed. I had to point it out a second time to get them to take action. In summation, Hambleton Construction is guilty of poor management, poor service, and poor workmanship. I would NEVER, EVER invite them back.

Hambleton Handyman LLC performed work in one of the bathrooms in my home. From the first day of work I expressed concerns with the project manager about the fact that the workmen were scheduled to start work that morning, however they did not start work until 1:00 pm. Then shortly after arriving one of the workers left to pickup supplies, not sure where he went, eventually around 3:30 the other worker Jorge told the employee that it didn't make since for him to return due to the amount time it would him to return. Jorge then left because without the supplies he couldn't continue working. So basically very little was accomplished the first day. It was disappointing because I had sent specs for the vanity approximately a month in advance, so they should have been prepared. Unfortunately, no actual measurements were taken my Hambleton Handyman before starting the work during either of the two visits prior to starting work on the project. That was just the beginning of my troubles. The Bathroom project, which required the movement of plumbing in order to install new bathroom vanity. As a result of the plumbing work that was completed by Hambleton Handyman LLC, my home incurred over $14, 000 in water damage to 7 rooms in my home. On Thursday January 21, 2016 when I entered by home, I heard water dripping from my study. I went into the study and saw water dripping from the ceiling, as it bulged. I immediately went downstairs and turned off the main water valve. I then went up to the top level and discovered that the wall in the bathroom was wet where the plumbing work was completed by Hambleton. I also discovered that part of the wall and the carpet was completed drenched in the guest bedroom that is directly next to the bathroom area where the work was done. We had a plumbing company come in that Thursday night to determine the source of the leak and conduct the repairs to the plumbing fixtures. They determined that the newly plumbed area that Hambleton Handyman LLC completed is where the leak was occurring. The leak spread from the bathroom to the guest bedroom next to it and multiple other areas in the home (study below, garage below, laundry room below, half bath below, and all the way down to the basement). Early Friday morning, we had SERVPRO in our home to begin the clean-up of all the resulting water damage from to our home to include newly installed hardwood and carpet, walls, carpets, and other components. I contacted the project manager Tommy and also David Hambleton the owner and informed them of the damage. I also respectfully requesting that Hambleton Handyman LLC take action to resolve this issue, by refunding all monies paid and reimbursing us for costs to repair all damage to the home resulting from the leak caused by the Hambleton Handyman LLC employees. Mr. Hambleton, at first appeared very willing to do the right thing. He came to our home to inspect the damage and stated that he wanted to make things right. Mr. Hambleton wanted to come in and have his company personally complete the repairs. My spouse and I decided that we did not trust them the correctly fix all of the issues, so we informed Mr. Hambleton that we would work through our insurance company and requested that Hambleton LLC reimburse us for all out of pocket expenses that the insurance company would not cover, to include our deductible. I sent receipts to Mr. Hambleton for the Servepro bill for water remediation service and the plumbing bill since the insurance company does not pay for work to repair incorrectly done work (such as the shoddy work completed by the Hambleton workers put plumbing parts (sharkbite fittings on incorrectly and as permanent plumbing fittings). Around 28 Jan 2016, Mr. Hambleton called and informed me that he would have to speak with his project manager and stated that he would follow-up back up to resolve. That was the last time I heard from Mr. Hambleton and his company. There was no sense of professional responsibility to ensure that the customer's issue were resolved. I've never had a more disappointing experience with a company. P.S. I didn't even address all of the issues with the paint job, bathroom fixtures that were not level and damage that was done to my brand new vanity by the Hambleton Handyman LLC employees. I have pictures of all the damage and bad workmanship, if needed.
Description of Work: The scope of work was to paint bathroom, install light fixture, and install a bathroom vanity which required some movement of plumbing fixtures.

Hambleton Construction is owned by two brothers, Dave and Tom. I had at least ten companies come out to look at our kitchen remodel, and there was only one that did a thorough evaluation of the space. Hambleton Contruction was not the lowest bid, nor was it the most expensive, but Dave and Tom made us feel like our job (though small) was important to them. There were no surprise costs during the construction aside from the changes my wife and I made mid-project, and for anyone who has ever been through the nightmare that is remodeling, you know that says a lot. I've heard to budget 15%+ for additional expenses. We did not have to worry about that with Tom and Dave as the price they quoted got the job done. Equally as important, any subcontractors they use are just as nice as Tom and Dave's own men. We have a two-year-old daughter, and everyone that came through talked to her and smiled at her. She even remarked to one of them, "Thank you for fixing my kitchen". Bottom Line - HC employees are good, trustworthy people whose subcontractors are also good, trustworthy people. This allows you to avoid the up-charge for contractors who employee their own plumbers and electricians in-house. Our kitchen remodel was a complete gut job down to the studs. It went one week over the projected time, but that's only because HC was so meticulous in routing a vent up our wall in a way that would keep the space open and light. And frankly, I'd rather tack on an extra week to make sure everything is done right. And let me tell you - it was done RIGHT. The kitchen looks better than I ever could have imagined. See before and after pictures. What was once a gloomy, ill-designed kitchen is now bright, open, and modern. It has completely transformed our small kitchen.

When we discovered a water leak in our siding where our lower deck attaches to the house, we thought that much of the deck was going to have to be disassembled for access to the area. David Hambleton proposed a repair scheme and Jorge carried out a repair that minimized removal of the existing deck and yet restored the integrity of the siding and replaced the ledger board that attaches the deck to the house. All at a very reasonable cost. Jorge is a hard worker and was very efficient in carrying out a heavy repair in tight quarters with many obstacles. The quality of all work was excellent. I would definitely use Hambleton Construction again and have commissioned them to do some other repairs and replacement of several windows.
Description of Work: Repaired water leak in siding at deck and removed and replaced deck ledger board and flashing. Work required addition of a second deck backbeam with two piers to support deck while it was disconnected from the house.

Addition and renovation. Added on to garage, re-configured, gutted and remodeled some existing spaces. Work started on time in the Spring but went well beyond promised completion timeframe of June 30th. Completing proposal and punchlist items extended into November. The length of the project went beyond the initial scope, coordination of subs and some site cleanliness were communicated to the company. Owner and site manager are brothers and were very pleasant to work with. They strived to do their best to right any wrong and stand behind the work that was done. Although we had some issues during the process, we were able to always to talk to Tom and Dave to get them rectified as best we could. Overall we were very pleased with the work performed and the ultimate results of our project.

The quality of work was great! The new bathroom, laundry room and mudrooom came out better than we had imagined. It took longer than was estimated, but was well worth the wait. The most important thing to me outside of the quality was that we stayed on budget and any additions or changes were clear and well communicated.
Description of Work: Remodel of master bathroom, relocated laundry room to the basement, remodeled old laundry room into a mudroom and closet. Also, repaired 2 bay windows and some other little things around the house.

I am extremely pleased with this project. The final product was a work of art. The craftmanship was top-notch and the price was reasonable. The project was performed in a timely manner despite very adverse weather conditions. I have never worked with a contractor who was as accommodating and conscientious as David Hambleton. I very highly recommend this contracting firm.

We were pretty nervous about this, because we had to rush and pick a contractor so that we could complete the siding job. The job went very well. David explained everything that they were going to do. Parts of the job couldn't be estimated until all the siding was removed, and he was very up front about that. His staff were real top notch - pleasant, respectful, and put in 12 hour+ days to get the job done quickly. David checked in frequently and was very responsive on the business end too, with proposals and invoicing. They're a small company, but I would definitely trust them with future business.
Description of Work: In the middle of replacing our wood siding, we found out that we had extensive rot in the framing the needed repairs. Hambleton took over - removed the rest of the siding, rebuilt major parts of the framing and parts of the joists, rebuilt some sub-floor, and tyvek-ed everything.
