James Mazzelli had told me it would take a week to redo my bathroom. This seemed like a lot to accomplish in a week and it ended up taking over 3 weeks. The bathroom was demo'd in a day. A trailer was left in my driveway for about a week with the supplies. The tub went in but it was damaged so they replaced the tub and proceeded to do the tile. My house got a little messy during the cutting of the tiles and laying them with the grout and so my walkway is a bit stained from this and my carpet took some abuse. I tried to sweep and vacuum everyday which helped but I would recommend they lay down the plastic cover over any area they may walk including the master bathroom they used while at my house. One evening my daughter came across a puddle in front of the toilet which was pee. I honestly don't know how a grown man can use someone elses bathroom and not be more careful or considerate. I upgraded on the grout to the epoxy which increased my cost an additional 350 but I was happy to have the consistency of the epoxy grout color and the durability as it will never need sealing. Although I never did see the container to verify that I recieved the requested product. James told me he kept the receipts but I never saw them. The shower tile job turned out amazing. James and Jessie did a wonderful job on it all. The tub spout just spins and is not secure against the wall. The downside was about 15 nails were poking through the wall into my daughters room. They eventually fixed that but I am curious if it affected how secure the mounting was with the shower and braces. The paint job didn't go as well. I had asked them to paint but after 2 coats it really didn't do much and I think that is due to poor quality paint. In addition he didn't remove the outlet covers and proceeded to paint around them which doesn't make for a professional job. I ended up rolling on a coat of Valspar Signature paint which has the primer and paint all in one and it looked amazing. They basically told me it needed to be done one Thursday night because they were going to set the vanity the next day. I work full time so I wasn't excited about yet another trip to Lowes and an evening of painting but I did it. The vanity did not get set for about 3-4 days after that because they had to shift the plumbing to the side to allow for the drawers to function in the vanity. The vanity was well constructed with quiet closing drawers and the granite countertop is gorgeous. The sink would not hold water and they never returned to fix it. Dave also helped out but mostly it was James and Jessie at my place. I provided them with a key so they could do this job and I have now upgraded to a keypad door and had all my locks rekeyed. Overall, I am happy to have the bathroom upgraded but the finishing touches did not go well. I asked James to lower the toilet paper holder as I felt it was set to high (38" and standard is 26") which he did but he never gave me the wood filler kit to repair the holes and I cant get it directly from the manufacturer. I also asked to have some extra tile on hand just in case one of them cracks and he agreed but never gave me any. My other issue was with the towel rack as I would have liked a 24" but a 18" was installed. I prefer the towel rack to hold 2 towels and having it only hold 1 looks funny. James said he would hang the new towel rack but never returned to do it. He probably promised to come out 5-7 times over the last month but I guess once he was paid the job was done to him. James seems like a decent man but I think he likes to promise too much and he can't keep his word so I would not hire him again.
Description of Work: I had JDJ's Home Improvement Services redo my guest bathroom. They took out the existing single vanity, toilet, tub, shower, and flooring. A new tub was installed with tile surround and matching floor tile. The bathroom was repainted and a new vanity with granite countertop and undermount sink with all new hardware was installed.
