For years my home has needed windows, but I've avoided buying them because I didn't want to spend the money or the effort finding someone to do the work. The pans of the old windows had rusted through and it was time for them to go, so I started doing the research needed. I found NOVA Installations through Angie's List, and then found out that several neighbors had used the company. I received estimates from six companies -- some recommended by neighbors and others found on Angie's List. I used a spread sheet to compare the estimates and the window details (U factor, solar heat, visible transmission, air leakage, condensation, type of window and what was between the panes). Art Dunn, owner of NOVA Installations, gave me an estimate in early June. He was very low key and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. In fact, he honestly told me some of the things I did not need and saved me money by recommending double-paned rather than triple-paned windows. Having worked on similar homes in the neighborhood, he also made some recommendations about what would look best. I knew from the start he would be on my short list. Over the course of the next three weeks as I talked with other companies, Art patiently answered my questions through email. He recommended Vytex casement windows, which are made in Maryland. I learned a little more about the windows by calling Vytex and asking a few more questions. I was down to two companies, but the recommendations of a neighbor I trust and my gut told me to go with NOVA Installations. Additionally, NOVA Installations offered the most reasonable price. When we signed the contract in early July, Art said it would take six to eight weeks for the windows to be built. Rather than replace the huge sliding windows with more sliding windows, I opted for more energy-efficient casement windows and one large, tempered glass picture window for the front of the house. I was surprised when Art called and said the windows could be installed the week of Aug. 10. I thought it would take a more time. NOVA Installations allotted three days for the job, but the installers were done in two, despite the threat of a little rain. Installers Jeremy While and Clayton Harlow did a wonderful job putting in the windows, caulking everything and trimming the windows inside and out. They had some help on the second day, but I can't remember the name of the third worker. NOVA's installers did a great job cleaning up and I have no complaints about them. (I do wish I had asked them to clean one window before they leftbecause it would take me a couple of weeks to get my husband on a ladder outside to clean a handprint from it.) I held off on writing a review right after the windows were done because I wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied. It's been seven weeks, and I can tell you the $11,731 I spent was well worth it. The windows completely transformed the look of my home. I would highly recommend NOVA Installations.

I could not have asked for the process to go more smoothly! It was great that I had a free in home estimate and was able to visit the show room on the weekend to confirm my choices. Tom was very helpful and responsive when I had questions! The job was completed within one day and there were no future problems with the installation work. My home feels less drafty now. The price for the windows I felt was a little high, but I could not ask for better customer service. Tom and Martin were able to work with me to find a three piece patio door within my budget (it is not common these days). Another place quoted me at $7000, but with Nova Installations I paid 1/4 of the price and the door looks great! Once again, it is energy efficient too which is a plus. The office was prompt to provide the documentation necessary to obtain the tax credit, but once again I had to reach out to them because they do not provide you with an invoice upon installation breaking out the costs. Two cons: Upon installation no one provided me information regarding the warranty for the products. I had to figure that out myself by visiting the manufacturer's website and emailing Nova Installations. The workers made quite the mess. I understand that it is a big job, but I had to re-paint around my windows and fix up my ledgers because a few had significant chips. Another tip to anyone else - ask for a sticker from each product you have installed so you have the information for re-sale. I had not proactively asked and this information was tossed by the installers. Do not dwell on the cons noted, I would highly recommend this company to others.

These guys are great. I used them to replace 20 windows in my home 1 1/2 years ago. The windows are incredible - triple pane. They completely blocked street noise. I think they reduced my winter and heating bills by at least 35%. My home (heat pump) actually feels warm in the winter. And they look nice. Do get triple pane glass if you want to block outside noise. I must have interviewed almost every window company in N. Virginia when I did the original replacement. I believe Nova Installations was the 2nd lowest cost, but more important, my conversations with Nova left me with a sense of trust which was the most important thing to me. I called them back recently after an unnamed power washing company cracked two of the windows. They have good records and knew exactly what I needed for replacements. They told me the approximate date I could expect the windows. They called early in the morning and asked if it would be convenient for them to install between 12:00 and 1:00 pm. I asked them if they could delay until 1 pm - they arrived at exactly 1 pm - remarkable. They left at 1:30 after cleaning the windows they had just installed, leaving nothing for me to clean up. There are lots of window businesses in N. Virginia. Nova Installations is in the customer service business. There is a difference. They also have a great selection of windows.

We used NoVa to replace 6 windows and 2 sliding glass doors. They had the best price and reviews from the four quotes we got. The sales people are not the slightest bit push unlike other bigger named companies. Day-ofthey got right to work and finished within about 5 hours. The work crew wasn't overly friendly but they did good work. A few minor issues needed to be addressed including reinstalling blinds and adding a lock to the doors, but they were addressed promptly and the company made sure we were totally happy before collecting payment. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent. Before deciding to go with them, I received no less than 6 quotes from A rated contractors. I was going for top of the line double pane vinyl Windows, and they offered me the lowest estimate on softlite imperial ls. Could not be happier!

For anyone who has gotten bids for windows, you know that you can get the hard sell. Not with Nova Installations. Art Dunn arrived on time, walked through all of my options with me, and provided me the costs for everything, including discussing many different options. He did not try to upsell me, talk down to me, or force me to make a decision on the spot--all of which I had experienced from others. I live in an older house that had original metal pans, and they removed all of the old window pans and replaced them with wood and insulated them well. Also, I had craftsman trim around my windows on one floor, but no real trim on the upstairs windows. They built beautiful trim around all the windows. The doors look amazing as well. They were very careful to protect my furniture and floors, kept me apprised of what they were doing, and made sure everything was perfect before they walked out the door. They showed up promptly at 8 in the morning and worked non-stop to the evening, and were able to finish in two days. I have received tons of compliments and would definitely use them again.

John, the salesman, was very knowledgeable and there was absolutely no pressure. Their price was very competitive with the other well rated companies that we considered. The installers did a beautiful job. They were on time, polite, and left everything spotless. We're very happy that we chose NOVA Installations and would definitely hire them again.

Everything went smoothly. Tom was in constant contact with us throughout the project, which made me feel comfortable to get updates consistently. Our home looks beautiful and our neighbors always are stopping to tell us how wonderful it turned out. The employees were pleasant and courteous. After the project they cleaned up and we didn't find trash all over the place, like I had anticipated. They did break an outdoor light on our patio, but Tom replaced it and the other two so they would match. Overall very pleased with the workmanship and the products. Our house feels much tighter with the new windows (previously had single-pane 1966 windows) and the new siding. I'm hoping our heating bills will reflect the upgrades made.

Art Dunn and his company NOVA Installations are fantastic. We used NOVA for a recent window replacement project. I replaced 21 windows (Marvin). This was a full window replacement, where the sash and interior trim are completely removed and replaced. Art and his crew completed the work in 2 days. The carpentry work was extremely well done, which was important as our home has some elegant features that we wanted replicated. The crew worked really, really hard. They showed up on time and worked past dark 2 days in a row to finish. Clean up was well done. NOVA was very price competitive. Of the four bids I received, NOVA was both the lowest price (by a little) and the installers had the most capability (carpentry, experience, etc). Was an easy decision. Art is a no pressure sales person. He knows the window business and knows what his competitors are charging. Accordingly, he provides a fair price at the beginning of the process and trusts that if you think his company is best for the job that he will get the business. He made several trips to our home to help us select the right window, color, and other features before we finally decided to move forward. No annoying sales tactics or negotiation. I plan to recommend NOVA to our friends and neighbors.

Contacted Tom Dunn who is one of the owners. Tom is very knowledgeable and I believe his business has been in operation for around 30 years. Unlike some, Tom was very low pressure and guided me through the selection process. He really understands this business from the manufacture of the products down to his local competitors. After considering several manufactures and glass options, we selected the Soft Lite Imperial LS. The manufacture took a bit longer than Tom's initial estimate due to the addition of laminated glass for the bedroom windows (to eliminate noise). Once scheduled, the crew thought that it would be a 3-4 day job as there were so many windows. In fact, they completed in just under 3 days. They were fine craftsmen that took their time to make sure each and every window was perfectly replaced, As Tom said "we don't rush these jobs ... we do it right!" and boy did they! The best advise I have found for replacement windows is make sure your installation crew is top notch because a very expensive improperly installed window will perform worse than a cheap, well installed one. NOVA's crew is "the top of the notch!". They were professional, kept the job site very clean, spent time to answer my questions, were on time and, as I said, very highly skilled professional craftsman. The day after completion I noticed one window that was missing some calk and some of the basement windows were sticky so I called it in. That afternoon, two of the crew returned to calk it, service the sticky ones and recheck all of the windows (they insisted, I did not ask). They reminded me that two of the screens needed to be replaced (they told me during installation and good thing too 'cause I would not have noticed until spring) and were on order. The office called later to confirm. Lastly, I spent a ton of time looking at various windows and entertaining several quotes including the one you hear on the radio all day long. Tom and his crew @ NOVA Installations were BY FAR more knowledgeable, responsive and price competitive that any of them. I have strongly recommended them to my neighbors and colleagues at work. When I am ready to replace my roof, I'm not going to waste any time .. I'm going to call Tom. If you live in the Northern Virginia area, do yourself a big favor, you should call him too!!

Nova did our windows a couple of years ago and did a great job, so when we needed new siding, we wanted to go with them again. Their estimate was significantly lower than another one we had. Our job was unfortunately started during a period of frequent rain, so scheduling around that was a bit challenging. One problem that came up was one of the installers put a nail through a pipe leading to our outdoor hose bib. So we had to call a plumber to fix that, and he had to cut the drywall to get to it. That meant we had to call a handyman to fix the drywall. That was a bit of a hassle, but Nova agreed to cover the costs without any pushback. Otherwise the installation went very well. The attention to detail was great, and the installers worked hard to resolve some difficult issues we had (i.e., deck coming up right against the house that led to rot, dirt coming up against the bottom of the garage that led to rot, etc.). Overall, a positive experience in the end ? great price and handiwork. The issue with the pipe was a true mistake, and they made up for it with covering the repair costs.

This all went according to plan except for the fact that one of the windows had a split in it and needs to be replaced. Here are the details: The order was perfect : the windows, the color, the hardware, the screen type (Truscene on one only), the grids and the size. Ordering windows is complicated! Installers (Jeremy and Eric) were on time and ready to go at exactly 8am. Trim was perfect and only the tiniest of blemishes. windows look really good, pre painted is the way to go. No mess and clean up was good. Art and Lori are the well oiled machine, highly recommended. Price was the same or slightly higher than some vinyl windows, and these are Andersen 400. It is worth it to spend $100 or so more per window to get windows that nice.

We waited over a week for an estimate, which was hastily emailed only after I called and emailed. Unlike what was promised, only one estimate was given. When I referred to our earlier conversation, he refused to acknowledge it and stated that this was his best estimate. Guess he doesn't want our business, let alone all the neighbors we were going to refer to him.

Art sat down with us and walked through each item to create the contract. I never felt he was trying to upsell me and he often discussed a cheaper option if he thought the more expensive option was needed or provided less security (doors, for example). Art had one group do the windows followed by another group who did the siding. Both were incredibly professional and had a great attention to detail. Art made sure he was there at the beginning to explain details to his crew. He spent most of the day on site and made sure that everything went well. We were thrilled with this experience. It was affordable and went much better than expected.

Art and crew replaced all our windows....we got 18 Soft Lite Imperial LS windows which we love. From first contact to installation, NOVA was wonderful. They did the job in one day and cleaned up everything before they left. I highly recommend them for any job!

This is the second time I used NOVA Installations for my window purchase. Each time they were professional, courteous, tidy, and efficient. We talked about various options and settled on windows that were perfect for my property and budget. I look forward to working with them again in the future for other installation needs!

Did an outstanding job. The sales person, Martin, showed up with all the material necessary to select the exact door and provided an estimate on the spot. The estimate was lower than 3 other companies. NoVa Installations had done 2 front door replacements in the neighborhood so I got to look at the installations and talk to the neighbors who highly recommended them. The door was installed by 2 highly experienced people who explained everything and cleaned up after the work was done; then the painter came the next day and painted all the interior and exterior trim. The office kept me advised when the door came in and offered installation dates. They tracked the progress and scheduled the painter.

They were great and we're very satisfied with the physical work and the quality of their work.

They had two employees come out, it took roughly four days to complete. They would be there from roughly seven in the morning to seven at night. They have a professional work style. They removed and junked all the old windows. It was neat and tidy they cleaned up after themselves. They knew their business, they could put in windows blindfolded. It was fast and good from removal to installation to caulking . They were very easy to work with and pleasant to be around.

The company representative showed up on time and discussed the products used by NOVA thoroughly before measuring the windows for the estimate. He was very helpful, professional, and prompt. We received the quote quickly. We did decide to use someone else in the end, but it was a difficult decision to make.

The measurement and ordering of the replacement door was done by Tom. The door arrived a few weeks later and installed in a timely manner. It works well and we have no drafts or problems with installation.

They were done quickly and efficiently. There were no any scrap. They were very, very good. They were less expensive. They're fine. The price is very right.

I had looked at replacement windows with two vendors and was not happy with selection. In fact it was depressing. By chance I talked with an old friend and he referred me to Tom at NOVA Installations and he had recently had some windows and doors replaced by them. I am writing this in April 2014 as I was not a member on Angies list back in 2010. Bottom line, Tom recommmended a great window for us. I had just refinished interior trim on a lower level our our house, and did not want to disturb all that with full replacement windows. Tom recommeded a Marvin fiberglass product that gave us the look of true divided light. Because of the fiberglass strength, the width of the stile was mush narrower than other inserts meaning we lost no glass area. NOVA Installation replaced 27 windows at a reasonable price. Install was done in a day and a half. Craftsmanship was excellent all the way down to neat caulk lines. Inside and out, the install looks great three years later and we are super happy we came across NOVA Installations and the Marvin product Tom recommended.

Excellent folks with which to work. They know their products and how to measure and install them with very little trouble, mess, etc.
