Overall, the experience was very good. They arrived on time, worked quickly, and cleaned up once the work was complete. We did have a small issue and they were very responsive with fixing that issue. They responded every time I needed anything. Their price was good; we had other estimates and this company was within the same range, except they were able to deliver the windows the quickest. I'm happy with their services.

They showed up on time and they finished the work on time. I didn't have any problems with them and I'm happy with them. They did a good job. I will use them in future.

I could tell they knew what they were doing. They were courteous, professional, and efficient with the installation. We love our new windows.

I wanted to use Milgard windows, and this was the only company on Angie's List that was a licensed distributor. The installation went very well. The crew was on time, efficient and professional. They were also very personable. With the exception of one storm window, there was no broken glass, and the job was completed in one day. The crew cleaned up after themselves, and there was no ancillary damage to the house. There was damage to some of the screens which was addressed the same day, and then a few days later, when I was able to inspect all the windows. The company was very responsive and professional, and I was very satisfied with the quality of the work and the product.

They were recommended to me by another window company. They were very professional. I think they have a good reputation. They weren't cheap but I don't think they were unfair. I plan on having them do the work, I have to confirm it.

It was beautiful. We were very pleased. Not inexpensive but worth the price.

Overall our experience with Hodges was good. We started the conversations with Hodges in the Spring of 2010 and finalized our contract by November. The one complaint we had is that lack of responsiveness from our Sales Rep, it often took many emails and phone calls over days and sometimes weeks to get a response, which is the primary reason we are not giving an "A" rating. The Office Manager and Installation team were excellent, A+++. All in all the quality of windows and installation were EXCELLENT. We will use Hodges again for future window/door purchases and can only hope that our next experience with a sales rep is better.

With very few exceptions our experience with Hodges was superb. The sales process was very low pressure and informative. We had some communication issues in getting the measurements and job scheduled, but it was likely due to the fact that the company was overwhelmed with business from folks like us seeking to take advantage of the energy tax credit before it expired at year's end. The installation was flat out amazing. The workmanship is top notch and they were incredibly efficient. The two man crew finished installing all 13 windows and cleaned up thoroughly in just 6 hours. The house looks much better and is a whole lot less drafty. Thanks guys.

I will divide this review into three parts since Hodges was very good at most things and very bad at providing me with a quote despite my eventually going with their business. The work they did so far looks great. Pricing/Quote: Although very friendly when you talk to them and in the end extremely price competitive by a wide margin Hodges is an absolute nightmare to get a quote from. They came out very quickly and didn't take 3 hours to do a sale pitch like Thompson creek does which is much appreciated but for weeks I didn't hear back. We were seeing other windows places but were just not getting the prices we were looking for. On 3 or 4 separate occasions i called Hodges to track down my quote and I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH THEIR ENTIRE SYSTEM IS BASED ON KNOWING WHO YOUR SALES PERSON IS SO WRITE THE PERSONS NAME DOWN (THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNABLE TO HELP YOU AND WILL PRETTY MUCH HANG UP ON YOU UNLESS YOU HAVE YOUR SALES PERSON'S NAME ). My sales person wrote down the wrong email address which happens in life but because i didn't have his name they almost lost my business despite being much cheaper than their competition. Timeliness: This is probably more on me and being new to having construction work done on my house but when they say 8AM they mean 8AM. They also mean that at 8:05 very loud noises will be reverberating through your neighborhood. Just something to think about if you have neighbors close by. I am an early riser so i didn't think much of it but they show up on time and ready to work. Overall: Despite the quirky tracking system they use to give you quotes they did great work and were very professional. I was home working and the guys were even kind enough to schedule the loud stuff around my conference call when i asked them to. They also finished up all the internal work so that they could do the external work on the house when we were not there.

Excellent workmanship. They replaced six windows and the door all in one day.

They were amazing! Mark was initial sales guy who came to house. Miles closed the deal at their showroom in Falls Church. And Chris headed up this installation. Everyone involved was professional, personable, and VERY low pressure. They came in one morning with a team of four at 8AM and were done by 3PM - everything neat and clean - and looking fantastic! They removed all the old windows and flashing, and replaced everything - it makes our house so much quieter and more attractive. If I had any window work to do again - they would be the only company I would consider. A fantastic experience overall!

Our overall experience was excellent. We initially visited the Hodges Company store to look at front doors but decided to replace our very old sliding doors also. Our salesman was prompt in scheduling a visit to our house to get initial measurements and once we decided on the actual brand and style of doors we wanted, one of the lead installers came out to make final measurements and out salesman placed the order with the door manufacturer. We waited about three weeks before the doors were delivered to Hodges. It took three days to install all the doors (two swinging doors and 5 sliding doors.) The install team was prompt in the morning and did not require anything from us other than a power hookup for their tools. They cleaned up at the end of each day such that unless you knew they were there that day, the area was spotless. Hodges did a followup call once all the doors were installed to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. We did have a problem with one of the stationary panels in the sliding doors. We ordered the "in-the-door between-the-glass" mini-blinds and one of the sets of blinds would not go back up after several days of use. Hodges was promptly on the scene to see if they could fix it but they could not and they order a new panel. It took about three weeks for the new panel to be delivered and Hodges was prompt in calling to set up an appointment with us that was convenient to our schedule. Overall, excellent job!

I went to their show room to see what kind of variety is available in vinyl windows. I personally think vinyl windows are really ugly, but I was hoping that by now there would be more selection. The sales rep seemed really straightforward, but I would have appreciated more information about the Low-e and SHGC ratings and what they mean. I did find a brand of window that I liked and we agreed on a time for him to come to my house to provide an estimate. He showed up on time and he was quick and friendly. We agreed that he would provide two estimates. One for replacing just the upstairs windows and one for doing the whole house, which includes a bay window. Two or three days later, I received a proposal via email for a different brand of window. The estimate was based on a per-window price, and it did not indicate whether this prices was for doing the entire house, including the bay window, which I would think would be a different price, or if the estimate was just for the upstairs. I can only assume that he must have confused me with another customer so I wrote him back, letting him know that his estimate didn't reflect our conversation. I have not heard back from him since.

Great installation. The team showed up on time on both days, cleaned up as they went, and left a very clean work-site each day. The installation was carried out efficiently and professionally. We are very pleased with the work done. Only one very minor issue. The manufacturers of the windows took a while to fill the order, so we waited a couple of months for delivery, but when the windows did arrive they were also of high quality. We will keep you posted on effectiveness of windows after the first rain, cold weather, high wind etc. UPDATE - We've been through almost a full year and the house remains cooler in hot weather and toasty in cold. The work carried out by Hodges is holding up well and we expect to not have any issues. Rain, wind, snow, heat and humidity are finally under control.

I called Hodges Window Company based on the solid reviews left here on Angie's List. I spoke with Frank and set an appointment after answering some general questions. Frank arrived 45 minutes late to our appointment without a phone call or an apology (I actually called his office to make sure I had the right day). When he finally arrived, he was professional and quick, and promised an estimate within a couple of days. Nearly two weeks later, we received a phone call that his quote was sent via mail. I do not doubt that Hodges is a great company with a great product (thus the C grade), I was just disappointed in the level of service I received.

So far everything is going Ok. I will know more once the windows are installed.

I own a 25-year-old townhouse. I started this process by getting quotes from three A-rated companies in Angie's List. Hodges did not have the lowest bid, but they inspired much more confidence than the other two companies. When I showed my salesman (Rafael) the lower bid, he consulted with his manager and was able to reduce the price somewhat. It still wasn't the lowest bid, but I felt that the relatively small difference was going to be worth it. I was right. The installation took place over two days (they were done by 1:00 on the second day). The team (Wayne, Doug, Dickie, Leroy) arrived when they said they would and did a fine job. Due to some incorrect/missing parts for the patio doors, two of the installers came back the following week and made the corrections.

Hodges sold us replacement windows years ago. When one of those windows was smashed this fall, we called Hodges to give us an estimate for replacement or repair. The representative never called us back. We called and waited. We called and waited. Finally we insisted on speaking personally to the general manger. He promised to look into the problem and report back. HE NEVER GOT BACK TO US!

Rafael Lobos was our sales person; someone else installed the door. I highly recommend Rafael for his professionalism. This came through in a number of ways. First, he was always prompt. Second, when we were selecting the door, he presented various options and made clear the benefits and limitations of each. Finally, when there was a problem with our order, he fixed it at no cost to us. The door installation went perfectly and we are very pleased with the final product. I would work with Rafael / Hodges again without hesitation.

This was one of the worst service experiences I have ever had. I approached them around last March to do this job for me. The delay was unbelievable, even after I had given them the 50% deposit in May they still didn't start the work. The work wasn't even started until October. When they eventually came out to do the work, the work was satisfactory for the most part. They didn't install the aluminum capping correctly and I have been calling and calling and calling to get this resolved. They fixed it in the front of the house but have yet to fix it in the back. They have sent out several people who couldn't repair the problem. At least 2 months ago they decided that they needed to replace the aluminum capping and I have been calling every week or so and they continue to say they will come out when they get the supplies and fix it. They have yet to fix it, so a year later the extent of their warranty is over and the project is still incomplete. The delays in this project are unbelievable. I will give them credit because there was a problem with the windows and they had the manufacturer come out and take a look at the windows and repair it. At this point, all I am asking for are the manufacturers of the aluminum and caulking so that I can have someone else do the repair, and they have not even responded to this request.

I must say that we had some problems initially. Old Town Alexandria has very strict guidelines in terms of what you can do to a historical structure. The person we worked with at Hodges at first seemed to understand our specific needs. But when the windows arrived, they were not all-wood with true divided light as we had specified on our contract. Then this same person told my husband that I had agreed to the windows he had ordered with a "wink wink". NOT TRUE!!! After that, my husband spoke directly with the owner, Mark. Well, if I could just rate Mark, he would get an A+ across the board. He assured us that we would get our windows (the correct, city approved variety) installed. He was very professional, answered our every question quickly and turned the whole experience around. The windows look amazing. His crew cleaned up after themselves and were also very friendly and professional. In a way, the measure of a company is how they fix problems and Hodges did an amazing job in that respect. though there were some scheduling setbacks, the excellent work was worth the wait; some very minor issues and questions after the work was completed were attended to immediately and completely.

By far the best contracting experience in my last 10 years. Mark was very honest and accurate in his estimates, the product delivery took a record time of 4 weeks during their busiest season, and the crew members were very professional and polite, who went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with the quality of the product. I highly recommend Mark's services.
