I loved Dr. Zadeh and the nurse I had for my extraction. We were very limited in what we could do since I was pregnant and they were so sensitive and caring. They continued to make sure I was okay throughout the procedure and were very gentle. I didn't even feel Dr. Zadeh pull out my tooth, I was amazed. The pain and swelling following the procedure was so minimal because he did such a good job.
However, the estimate I received for my dental implant was high; when I returned for my check to see that I had healed properly they gave me another estimate for the implant that was significantly higher. They told me that they would send it in to my insurance to see what would be covered and then would call me and I have yet to hear from them a month later.
I needed another pulled in 2007 and went back to Dr Labriola. I recommend him to all my friends!
When I came for the procedure, I actually was pleased with her management of the sedation, at least that was safely done.
The initial days after the surgery were painful, but I was doing okay and following the post-operative instructions exactly.
Four days after the procedure, I felt that my pain was worsening and called the office for advice. They suggested I come in the next morning, which I did. Dr. Francioni was delayed in a procedure, and that was fine with me. Then, she walks in, clearly displeased, tells me "Women are prone to dry socket," and shoves a dressing into my left socket. That hurt like heck, and she basically mocked me for being in pain and said "it's fine." I asked her if the right side was okay and she said "it's fine" without looking at it. She left the room in a hurry. I literally had to ask her assistant what she put in my mouth and how long it would take to dissolve. She gave me no instructions on what to do other than that I had to brush better.
Later in the day, the pain on my right side was worsening and I still didn't understand why she didn't look at it. I called to see what I should do and they told me to come in. Dr. Francioni was openly hostile towards me. She told me I said in the morning that only the left was hurting, which is not true, I know that I was in pain on both sides, and I had asked her to examine both. She then shoved the packing into my right socket, which I expected, but she again gave me a hard time for being in pain. She acted like I was being overly anxious and told me "it's not painful, it's uncomfortable." Doctor, when you shove a dressing into a dry socket 5 days after surgery, it hurts.
All this time I was completely deferential and just wanted my teeth to be taken care of because I had to leave town the next day, which she had known ever since my consultation.
Dr. Francioni then launched into a hostile interrogation as to why I hadn't taken the antiinflammatory she had prescribed a few hours before. Knowing I am a pediatrician, she lectured me about pain meds and belittled my knowledge, thinking I must be stupid if I wasn't able to fill a script immediately. And then she told me she "didn't know" if I had a dry socket, even though that it exactly what she was treating me for. Furthermore, knowing that I had to go out of town, she did nothing to tell me what I should do to follow-up or to take care of the sites, she simply said I would be feeling better soon.
Thankfully, I found a different oral surgeon who followed me and saw me every day to change out my packing. Here's what blew my mind - he gave me novocaine the first time he put the packing in, ASSUMING that the exposed bone would be very painful! Imagine that. It was a completely different experience having a doctor who communicates and uses appropriate pain control, and let's me know what to do!
At best, Dr. Francioni has poor bedside manner. At worst, she is hostile, argumentative, insulting and just does not care. Once the surgery was done, she was literally angry to see me back in the office. I had never accused her of anything or was assertive in any way, and it was her own staff that told me to come in, yet she was openly hostile towards me for coming to be checked out.
I honestly think she should take a communication or anger management course before she comes near any more patients. You can find several reviews on other sites of patients with similarly bewildering and upsetting experiences.
She needs to control her anger and learn how to communicate, period.
The staff was also wonderful to work with - everyone speaks English and that made it so much easier to make appointments, ask questions, and finalize billing. They were all so very pleasant and helpful - a remarkable difference from many places that one deals with these days!
It's nice to know I have an oral surgeon I trust and believe in if I need him in the future!
He left a part of a tooth in my mouth and he had to remove it. I was upset about it because the tooth was removed at least six months ago. I had to go back for him to remove that which they told me was kind of normal. It had never happened to me before. I was looking for a younger dentist. My experience in the past with older dentist was bad because he boxed up three crowns. He was sort of everything I was looking for, but he screwed up.
