K&A Painting is an Oakton-based, family-run business that?s been operating for 30+ years through word-of-mouth. Their estimates are excellent based on the going rates in today?s market. But, more importantly, their finished work product is excellent! They go above and beyond to fix problem areas (including sanding and plastering walls) to make sure customers are happy with the final product. In our condo, they fixed a wall outside a bathroom where paint was chipping due to poor ventilation and too much steam from the shower. When they finished, the wall looked perfect! For another example, when the wall paper was removed from the walls of one of the bedrooms in our new home, the previous owners did not remove the glue (they simply painted over the glue) so the wall had a heavy texture to it, which did not look nice once it was painted over. The painters plastered the entire room to remove the texture of the wall and make it smooth again before repainting it. The finished product is amazing. The painters also removed old, unused central vacuuming vent holes and fixed the drywall so you wouldn?t even know that the house was equipped with that outdated system. They remove and replace old light switch plates and electrical plates (never painting over them) and are careful to paint trim and ceiling lines evenly. They?ll even touch up metal bathroom ceiling fan vents. And if there?s an issue with molding or baseboards being unfinished, the painters actually finish the area before painting (i.e., caulking where required, sanding to smooth out bumpy areas, drywall patchwork, smoothing out areas where paint has peeled off). On one occasion, I did not like the wall color that I chose for some accent walls in our new home (I saw it after the first coat and just hated it), but the painter happily painted those walls in another color upon discussing the matter (for just $40, the cost of paint). They are very timely and will work with you to arrive early if you have to leave for work. They are very trustworthy and can work throughout the day while you are working. And the crew cleans up the entire mess upon leaving. I have recommended them to my friends and will continue to use them in the future as I decide to change paint colors. It?s hard to find a company who values the final product as much as the customer. In fact, he told me that his job directly reflects upon him and so it?s his main priority to make sure his customers are happy with the work he completes. He?s definitely a perfectionist, which is what you want when it comes to painting! They also do exterior painting, but we have not used them for that?yet!
