Computer Geeks - VA

My laptop was infected with a nasty virus that was shutting down various programs, could not be fixed by McAfee and wiped out my ability to access the internet. I found Ryan on Angie's List and read all the great reviews and decided to contact him. He called me back quickly and came over that evening to work on the computer. He was extremely professional and tried everything he could to remove the virus but the computer kept re-infecting itself when he'd start it back up again. After exhausting the possibilities, he told me he would need to take my laptop home to back up my files and re-install my operating system in order to get rid of the virus. I was nervous, but the next evening he returned with my laptop restored to factory default and he had managed to save all my files, my web favorites, and even reloaded a number of programs for me (Microsoft, McAfee, etc.). Additionally he told me about a great malware program and installed it on my computer (giving me the option to purchase/activate it on my own if I wanted it). My computer is working better than ever now and I only had to restore some personal settings and let Microsoft install all updates after Ryan fixed it. I was amazed at how quickly he responded and fixed my computer, including door to door service, and his price was incredibly reasonable! I would definitely recommend him and will use him again for my computer issues.

I contacted computer geeks based on the review's I read on Angie's list - I completed their on line informational form and was contacted within hrs. Based on my described problem - not being able to boot up my computer - Ryan gave me an initial read of what he might have to do - attempt to save my files and then reload my operating system. He arrived at my home at the exact time promised and was very courteous and pleasant - even had a doggie treat for the only one who was not happy about his presence! Ryan attempted to boot my computer/view my hard drive - although he wasn't able he appeared confident that once he took my box back to his office/work station - he'd be able successfully retrieve my information. He provided his price and told me he'd have my computer back the next day. Like clockwork he called me the next evening and not only was he able to get my system back up but he didn't have to reload the operating system - he tripled my hard drive memory fragged and de-fragged, and cleaned my system of infections....but what really impressed me the most was his honesty and integrity - he could have easily told me a complete reload was required and pocketed an additional $50 but he is definitely a straight shooter and someone that I'd highly recommend to any and everyone! thanx ryan!

When our laptop hard drive crashed we installed a new one but could not get it functioning properly and could not restore all the system files and software. I called Ryan at Computer Geeks-VA. We discussed the problems and solutions and he picked up our laptop that evening. He reinstalled all our system and Microsoft Office software, finished the job in 2 days and delivered the laptop to our house. He ran through of series of system checks with us and suggested additional software to improve security and functionality. We were very impressed with Ryan's professionalism and fast, personal service. His pick up and delivery service was most welcome and unexpected. Another welcome surprise was his charge of only $75.00. We thought his services were worth at least twice that. I would highly recommend them and definitely use them again.

I called the company on July 4th, holiday. Ryan returned my call right away. Came to my house on holiday and fixed the computer infected by virus promptly. He also recommended excellent antivirus program. Ryan is very professional and knowledgeable and honest person. No extra charge for coming on holiday also.

He spent a lot of time on my machine, including trying to increase my memory. That didn't work so he had to un-do that attempted fix, but even after spending a LOT of time there, he only charged me the minumum advertised charge.

The computer is running better now than it has in years. Very happy with Ryan's work and his clear explanations on what was involved with the repair.

Our laptop computer would not boot properly. After exhausting all options known to us novice computer users, we found Ryan on Angie's List under Computer Geeks - VA. His ratings were great as were his reviews. We e-mailed Ryan and within hours we received a response. From our description of the problem, he already had an idea of what the problem might be and provided several dates/times where he could stop by to take a look. We chose a time that was the next day! Ryan showed up promptly and began a quick diagnostic. It was confirmed that the hard drive needed replaced. Ryan explained the options and the costs (parts and labor) and asked if he could take the laptop to work on it at his place once he receive the replacement parts. Ryan took the laptop with him and within a few days he let us know the laptop was repaired and asked when he could bring it back to our house for us. Pick up and delivery, who could ask for more? We were so worried about how much it would cost and decided if it was over a certain number, we would just buy a new laptop. To our pleasant surprise, what Ryan charged us, especially for his awesome service, punctuality, professionalism and attention to detail, it was a bargain. Out laptop is working great now and we have a few more years left on it. Hopefully we won't need Ryan again, but if we do, he's the first we'll call.

I scheduled an appointment with Mr. Hitzeroth because I had a one time message on my Verizon MiFi indicated that another user was on my IP address. The one time I received the message I logged off and it has not re-occurred but scheduled an appointment to be safe. Mr. Hitzeroth arrived on Saturday at the scheduled time of 9AM prepared to work. He reviewed my laptop's settings and connected with my MiFi but the message did not reoccur. He performed diagnostics on the laptop and downloaded a malware program. When the trial period ends for the program, Mr. Hitzeroth advised me to purchase the program from the site for $25 to run inconjunction with my existing internet security software. Mr. Hitzeroth advised me if I see that message again to immediately log off the MiFi. I, also, asked Mr. Hitzeroth for recommendations on purchasing a printer to bundling and received excellent anecdotal advice. Mr. Hitzeroth is approachable and task oriented he comes to provide a service. I appreciate that and will call upon him again.

We used Ryan's services a while back, but i just hadn't had the opportunity to post a review until now. During his initial visit, Ryan came to the house and after a short time on the computer, diagnosed that the problem I was having in setting up NETFLIX through my WII was due to outdated and faulty hardware. He got on the phone with Verizon and explained the problem and told them what equipment was needed. Then he left, and he wouldn't charge me for that visit. Once I got the new equipment, Ryan came back and set everything up,and things have been working beautifully since. Ryan was pleasant, professional, and efficient. He certainly knows his stuff and has good communication skills, a quality that is often missing in professionals in his field. I will certainly call him back for any of my computer needs in the future.

This is the second time I've used Ryan for computer hardware installation, and both have been excellent experiences. During his first visit, he installed a new power supply and a graphics card for my gaming desktop. Ryan was punctual, professional, and a fast worker. For this most recent repair, the CPU cooling fan for the same desktop was suffering some intermittent failures. I'd called or emailed about a half a dozen other computer repair shops and they all declined after I revealed that the fan was hooked up to a liquid cooling system for the CPU. Not Ryan. He replied to my email inquiry within two hours and scheduled an in-home repair for the next day, a Sunday. When he arrived, he removed the malfunctioning part, went out to a store to purchase a replacement, and returned within an hour. After a quick installation and some troubleshooting, my system is working great! I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and the price was WAY lower than I expected.

Ryan Hitzeroth knows that I'm trying to eke a few more months out of my geriatric computer so that it will last until this summer, when I move into the condo that I'm buying. His service has been so outstanding that, despite the pressure from the younger generation to buy an Apple, my next computer will also be a PC--for the simple reason that Computer Geeks and Ryan specialize in PCs. I want to retain their services.

Ryan spent extra time working on the tough issue and came up with a solution. Also made good suggestions related to upgrades and what my limitations were because of the age of my computer. Clearly went above and beyond. Pleasant and professional. I would definitely call him again!

It was a very satisfying experience. I thought he was knowledgeable and pleasant and fair. What more could you want?

We are very pleased with Computer Geeks VA. Ryan arrived on time and was able to get our wireless printer online for both a PC and Mac. He made our garage sale fax machine work, and finally helped get my bluetooth ear phone working with my regular phone. Ryan is very knowledgeable and personable We would use him again and highly recommend him to our family and friends and the Angie's list members.

It was a great experience. Very convenient -- he came to the house. And the work was performed as promised with regard both to cost and timeliness. A much better experience than I had with one of the "chains," which charged $70 just to do a diagnosis (not a repair).

I emailed Computer Geeks - VA on Sunday 1/29 and got a response same day from Ryan. I provided him via email a detailed description of the problem along with the specifications of my laptop. We spoke briefly on the phone to discuss the service, costs, and to set expectations. He was able to come by the following day. The fact that he was able to come to our house was awesome. (A computer doctor who makes house calls...) Ryan showed up exactly on time and went straight to work. He was extremely professional, focused and efficient. He used all methods for repair including examining the hardware, BIOS, checking for viruses/malware, etc. He was able to get the laptop to boot up (hah! it worked for him, but not for me) and set me up to make more frequent and thorough backups. He was done in 1 hour, including testing/stressing the laptop to see if we could reproduce the crash. He provided me a detailed electronic receipt and some guidance/advice for maintaining my laptop and preparing in case the BSOD was due to a possible pending hardware failure... it's generally not a good sign when your hard drive starts clicking and your computer crashes. When Ryan left, I felt like I had gotten very good value. I would definitely recommend him to others. Update: When the hard drive finally died a few weeks later, I had a little bit of warning (rhythmic clicking sound). Luckily, I had a complete backup from Ryan's first visit plus easy backup software to use. I managed one quick full backup and then shut the laptop down. I emailed Ryan. I've noticed that he's really quick to call back. He offered to purchase a new hard drive for me, alternately I could pick one up (he suggested the where & what which is very helpful if you're not technical). I bought the drive, he picked up the laptop the next day, and brought it back the day after that with the new drive in/ Windows 7 loaded/ old drive in the box. Thanks to my backup, all my files were easy to restore. Again, I really have to recommend Ryan!

We had real good luck with them. He came two times to make sure he had it fixed. It is a one-man operation and he was very nice. We felt very comfortable having him in our home. He really tried to get things fixed up because computers sometimes aren’t easy. He made a real effort to get everything going. We would definitely use him again.

My husband needed access to a system that would allow him to access certain legal documents. After trying to fix it himself for over 24 hours he finally took my advice and we went on Angie's List. As soon as I saw Computer Geeks-VA description, I knew that we had found our guy. Ryan not only came over the same day, but came after hours and had my husband set up in less than an hour. Maybe he'll listen to me the next time!!! :)

Ryan was very punctual, friendly, and knowledgeable. He easily could have charged me a lot of money for a service I didn't need. Instead, he cleaned some of the components, and then, the computer worked like a charm. He came on a Saturday afternoon, and he didn't charge me anything for the service. He also gave me some great tips to help my computer work even better. Thank you so much! Would I use this company again? Absolutely!

Excellent and very honest service. He was at my house nearly an hour and only charged me $25. And he brought my dog a treat too!

Configured son's PC to router, printer. Added virus protection and installed malware. Even brought treat for our dog. Well done.
