 + -1 moreI called Ryan on Sunday afternoon and he returned my call within an hour. Within 48 hours of making the call, he picked up my desktop PC, performed the services, and returned the desktop my PC. To be clear, he came to my house to pick up the PC and delivered back the following evening.

Description of Work: We were in a bind because the Geek Squad repair person called off sick and the Geek Squad (Best Buy) wanted to reschedule at a time when it was more convenient for them. We needed the computer repaired this weekend. I logged into Angie's List and based on the reviews called Computer Geeks-VA and called. Ryan was available and arrived on time and called to let us know he was on the way. He worked on our laptop, desktop and another laptop basically the same time. He was here for two hours. He did upgrade the memory on the desktop and removed some programs installed a better virus protection program. He took our main laptop with him because it had a corruption that required reloading Windows 7. He would return in the next day or on Monday. He called on Sunday and the computer was ready. it was here for 15 minutes to make sure it was operating and it was. Ryan is very professional, knowledgable and reasonable. I will use him again.

Description of Work: Computer booted to a blue screen, and I was unable to start up. Ryan was able to start in safe mode and performed a complete backup. Was able to uninstall and reinstall Norton 360, which let me start in normal mode. Fan was broken, and he showed me that I could get a cooling pad until a new fan was ordered and installed. There was a problem with the fan, and he would not charge me for his work in trying to install it.

 + -1 moreThe rates charged were less than others I have used and the quality of service was equal to other technicians who have come to my house. The laptop had been damaged. He was able to fix some of the problems and suggested where I might find the other parts. He found an extender for my wireless network and sold it to me at his cost. He said I should be able to install the extender myself and he was correct which saved me a few dollars. Finally he checked my pc and made certain it was performing as fast as it could.
Description of Work: Had software and hardware problems with my wireless network, a pc, and a laptop.

About 15 minutes before he was due he called to say that he would be 15 minutes late. when he arrived he quickly reviewed all my requests and started work. his work was completed in 2 hours and he gave me a discount and did not charge the entire 2 hour fee. he was very professional and friendly. his work was great and we have not had any problems or complaints with anything he has done. I will definitely call him again.
Description of Work: Computer Geeks-VA hooked up wireless for 3 laptops & 1 TV and set up the security for it. He hooked up cable, TV, and DVD.

 + -1 moreAs I indicated above, this experience was by far the most positive that I have had with any service provider that I've used in the last four years! I recommend Computer Geeks-Va and Ryan without reservation!
Description of Work: This is the second time that Ryan has shored up my aging computer, and I'm still singing his praises. On September 24, I downloaded antivirus software; immediately afterward, my computer slowed perceptibly. Because of my previous favorable experience with Computer Geeks-VA and Ryan, I called him again. He said he would come today (Sept. 25) at 10:00 a.m. As before, he was prompt. After about 15 minutes, he had corrected the immediate problem. He left, refusing to charge me for "15 minutes" of his time. Before he left my building, I discovered another problem and phoned him. He came back to my apartment and spent another hour (plus) signing me up for a backup for my files and dealing with a customer-service (oxymoron) representative on my behalf. For this, he charged me a paltry $75. More important, to put Ryan's service in context from the perspective of a senior single woman: Since I've been alone, Ryan is the only service provider--medical, technical, home improvement, or otherwise--who has treated me with respect and who has not tried to reap benefits from my lack of expertise in his field. So, without reservation, I recommend him to all AARP members--and everyone else!

Description of Work: Ryan let us know that he was going to be a little bit late which was very thoughtful of him. My computer was using the router address and could not connect to the internet. Ryan reset everything and enabled my computer to have its own IP address once again. He also cleaned-up and optimized my computer.

Description of Work: After I started having trouble connecting with Internet and Outlook e-mail, I first called a computer technician who had helped me with problems for several years. After four days of waiting for promised calls that never came, I consulted Angie's List. Computer Geeks-VA had excellent reviews, so I decided to give Ryan a try. I was not disappointed. I phoned Ryan on July 28. The earliest slot available was Saturday, July 30, at noon. After being out of commission for more than a week, I took it. Shortly after 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Ryan phoned to say that he would be delayed. He arrived at 12:45 p.m. In approximately one hour, he identified the problems, ran Malwarebytes to remove 26 infected objects, installed AVG Free AntiVirus, added 1 x 512 MB and 1 x 256MB DDR RAM, and removed Comcast and GoToAssist software, which were creating high processor usage.

Description of Work: I called and left a message in the morning, and Ryan was at our home in the afternoon. My husband's computer had multiple viruses (almost non-functioning) and mine was running very slowly. Ryan cleaned the harddrive and even took one home to work on longer ~ and returned it the next day! Mine is working much faster and he even added another RAM.

He examined the machine, removed it from the premises to blow dust out of it, removed old memory and installed additional new memory. He explained what he had done and suggested I subscribe to a 1-time Malware program to keep viruses away. Impressively professional. Ryan was out of here in less than hour. I would definitely call him again for other services, although I hope that won't be too soon!

When I called, Kevin was very responsive and able to come fix the problem within 24 hours. He quickly identified the problem and installed a new power supply. He also ensured the computer was functioning correctly. I will definitely call again if I have any other computer issues.

He also went on to check the computer company's website for any additional updates that hadn't been done, and installed them after checking with me. The work was done in just over an hour.

They were highly professional, knowledgeable, and extremely responsive. That's what I call service! I'd highly recommend using this company.

Showed me how to scan documents into a desktop file and added this printer onto my network. Very satisfied with Ryan's knowledge.  + -1 moreI called ryan a few days ago after finding his name and reports on Angie's List. My computer was not working well as it had a virus on it. He gave me a date of Saturday afternoon which was very convenient for me. He arrived and set right to work. He was very efficient and explained what he had to do and how I can prevent these viruses in the future (not opening anything suspicious)!!! He put more memory into the computer and cleaned the inside of the dust that had accumulated. He worked very efficiently and was finished in about an hour. I would not hesitate to use ryan again and will recommend him highly. The cost I paid included the new memory. without it, the charge would have been $75. It was well worth the price. the computer is now working as well as when I first bought it in 2006.
Description of Work: Ryan cleaned up my computer and got rid of the viruses that attacked it. He found the Norton Anti-virus I had installed was not working efficiently, so he reinstalled that for me. Also, he thought I could use more memory in the computer which he also installed.

 + -1 moreHe informed me of the things he noticed as he researched and explained to me what he found. I found this to be very helpful. He also chatted with HP on his laptop to confirm his findings. I need a new motherboard but Ryan confirmed that my hard drive was good and he could still see my files. Since he could not repair the computer, he did not charge me anything. I was shocked. Most repairmen charge a cost just for coming out and doing the analysis. Once I get a new laptop (he also provided recommendations), I will call him to copy files from my old hard drive.
