We started this company back in 1979 working out of our home. We carry on a tradition in service back to the days of the Dodge Appliance Company founded in 1914 by my grandfather. They are great! I had a very old washer/dryer that needed repair and I hoped they could repair as the new models are horrible/expensive/unreliable. Eli came to my home and thoroughly evaluated the problem. He is my hero! Very pleasant, efficient, and professional. I am so happy I don't need to buy a new washer/dryer. If I need repairs in the future, I will definitely call them again!

Iā€™ve used Appliance Service by Paul for nearly 30 years. They always do a perfect job. Iā€™ve built many homes and have used them dozens of times. I called them directly asking for a very good tecnician to figure out why my oven was stoping heating in the middle of cooking and they sent Junior. He did an outstanding job. He had to pull my Wolf oven apart to find the problem. He was so careful handling the oven parts. He was able to find and fix the problem. Junior was also very kind to explain things to me as he went along, and even gave me suggestions on how to use the oven more efficiently. I really appreciate the way he handled this difficult task with such patience, expertise, and professionalism. Thank you so much Junior! You are the best!

We had a 7 year old oven that went sideways. We are going to remodel next year so we did not want to replace the oven, just get another year out of it. But it was a complicated problem with the motherboard and sensors. ABP delivered fantastic old school service. Our technician (I believe his name was Dave) was extremely knowledgable, professional, and delivered exactly what he said he would do on time and in budget. I would recommend them to anyone.

Depends on how you look at it . When they came back to replace the part, during the install they found another problem. They called LG and asked about it. Turns out it was not fixable. Worked at it almost 3 hours. Left without charging us anything. They even tried to get LG to replace the entire unit since it still had 6 months on the warranty. LG refused. No problem for us since we wouldn't want another one anyway. So, bad experience with our very expensive, unfixable and warranty not honored by LG refrigerator. Excellent experience with Appliance Service By Paul. Professional. Hardworking. Beyond fair on the price. I have had places in the past still charge us the service charge for just coming out.
Description of Work: Refridgerator went bad. Again. They came out twice. Once to diagnose the problem. Second time to install the parts.

Went very well. Repair person was punctual and professional. It was completed and the area cleaned up very nicely. Best of all, the fridge works perfectly. Hope it keeps going since the part is only covered for a year.
Description of Work: LG refridgerator needed a new compressor. Luckily that part was covered by warranty. Unluckily, the labor was not. Seemed higher than the hourly rate due to the flat rate for a warranty repair and the 3 1/2 hour time it took to complete.

He did a great job. He arrived within the time window provided and was able to fix the problem in almost no time. The cost of the repair was covered by warranty as the dryer is less than six months old. I don't know how much Maytag paid him, but I am assuming that his prices are reasonable enough to warrant a service contract with them.
Description of Work: My dryer would not start. There was something wrong with the start button.

Great! I called on a new kitchen aid dishwasher that had stopped working. This went through Lowes as it was still under warranty. They sent out Pauls right away and Andy fixed the problem (blownout motor) right away. I will hire Appliance Service by Paul again.

technician really knew what he was doing. Had the right part with him and was able to install it, test the machine to insure it was working properly with no time wasted. They came at the time they said they would be here. Very dependable

Charged $90 but could not fix ovens. Took a short time to find this out. I have always had good luck with their work, but a $90 flat charge is a bit much.

We do not overcharge for parts when the repair requires parts. I'm sorry your ovens were not repairable. That is sometimes out of our control.

service call to check on problem---$130.00 we ask them to call us with the price of the control panel-- no call-- we had to call them back twice before we received an answer back . we went ahead and did the repair (lesser of two cost Replacement or Repair) on the ASKO clothes dryer. One of the switches in my cooktop was malfunctioning. It would turn on intermittently when not in use! I called these guys an a tech came out. He briefly looked at the cooktop and said that we needed a new switch, so he got the part number, took our payment info, and said he'd call when the part arrived, and it would be early the next week. After a week or so, I called and they said the part wasn't manufactured anymore. I asked them to see what options I had, like jury-rigging a new switch or adding an external switch. Two weeks later I get a check in the mail reimbursing me for the amount I'd paid less $90 (trip charge plus and quot;laborand quot;, even though none was performed). I called asking for a service manager to discuss the situation - but they don't return my calls. Timeliness: They said he would come by at 11am. When I called mid-afternoon they said he'd come by before the end of the day. he showed up at 5pm. I expect repairmen to call me when they're going to be more than an hour late. Communication: I expect them to call me: 1. When they're going to be late. 2. When they find out a part isn't available. 3. When I ask them to discuss options for fixing my problem. 4. When I ask them to call me to resolve an unsatisfactory situation. I'm totally dissatisfied.
Description of Work: Looked up a part number on his laptop and took my money.

Thank you for your review. We have little control over non-available parts from a manufacture. We exausted all our sources. We do not give exact time frames for arrival but rather a time block usually 3 hours. We always call first and if we do not reach the customer and it is in the time block promised we go to the home anyway. We still have to charge for travel and diagnosis. Our phone system has three options. Service, Parts and Administration. Thank you .

As promised, Paul's called prior to coming at 8:13 a.m.. I was getting ready for work so my wife handled the transaction which was completed by 8:49 a.m.. The service man arrived and said the belt and roller was fine that it needed a simple balance. The entire transaction including drive time took 36 minutes. I understand the cost of sending staff to a home and had no objections to the $44.95 service charge and if they felt compelled I would have lived with an additional $35.00 in labor. But they got my wife for $122.82 before I got out of the shower. I called and left a message, after negotiating a horrible phone tree, politely asking for an explanation but never got a return call. I should have stuck with my gut feeling and gone with the top rated Angie's List provider...
Description of Work: LG Dryer was making an intermittent squealing noise.

Sales taxes are additional and we have not control over those costs. We do not install parts or provide service that is not needed. A dishonest company would have installed parts you did not need and marked them up largely. Our phone has only three options, parts, service and administration. I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations.

Tyler was pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable.
Description of Work: I had a fan in my refrigerator that was making a racket. Tyler opened up a compartment and told me the problem was minor with a few adjustments. He could have tried to replace the compressor fan, but he was honest, made the adjustments and vacuumed out the service area.

After repairing my own refrigerator it still was not working correctly. Since I had now been without a fridge for more than a week, I searched Angie's list for the highest rated repairman in my area and that was Paul. He answered his own phone immediately and I briefly explained my problem hoping that he had time to come repair my fridge. Paul knew exactly what was wrong and what I had done and told me how to fix it. He was correct and my fridge worked fine ten minutes later. Paul was courteous and patient even though I could tell that he was in the middle of a repair at another customers house. I wasn't charged anything but I will definitely call Paul if I have appliance repair needs in the future.
Description of Work: My refrigerator was not working correctly even after I had repaired it myself. I called Paul and he diagnosed it and told me how to fix it over the phone for free.

In all fairness I have had better experiences with this company in the past. The technician is friendly and very good at his job. This time, however, they were too booked up to fix my washer within 5 days of my call. So I said I would wait the 5 days. They give you a 3 hour window of time in which to expect them. The technician called me at the beginning of my scheduled time and informed me that he didn't have time to get to me today. Could I wait two days longer? I agreed though now my washer had been inoperable for a week. On the rescheduled day, I waited the three hour time period, and never saw or heard from a repairman. I had a meeting an hour later, after the time promised, and saw that the repairman tried to call me during my meeting. Too late! My washer is still broken a week and a day later.
Description of Work: I wanted my washer repaired, which unfortunately didn't happen.

Everything was as expected. Price was fair.
Description of Work: My washer was not going into the spin cycle or even working properly on the wash cycle. It is a 15 year old machine. Paul's technician showed up on time and fixed the washer is about 30 minutes. I also had him look at the dryer and he cleaned out link and replaced the catch on the door because it was leaking. Both work like new again. I have had this company also do repairs on my dishwasher and my range unit. They have also done work on two other houses I am familiar with and everything has been satisfactory. I recommend them.

I called to make an appointment and they were very quick to get someone out to see me. I inquired about the price and they said it would be ~$60 for the visit and $25 for every 15 minutes with a 30 minute minimum. That was extremely pricey, but I didn't think I had a choice, so I agreed. Serviceman arrived about 30 minutes before our scheduled appointment and he had to wait 10 minutes before I arrived home (I work full time and had to take my lunch hour to meet with him). He was put off by that, but wasn't explicitly rude. Overall, he was very nice during the visit. Took his shoes off at the door because he noticed that I took mine off. He worked VERY quickly. He had the parts in his truck and had everything completed within 30 minutes flat. I was very happy about this because it meant I would only have to pay $50 for his time and then the cost of the part. He wrote up the bill, but charged me for an hour of his time. I pointed out that he only worked for 30 minutes. He then said that there was a 45 minute minimum and he changed it to 45 minutes on the bill. I didn't want to argue, so I agreed. He couldn't fix my ice dispenser and said he would order parts. I assumed he would call me with the price of the parts, so I could confirm that I was willing to pay the amount. He never did. Next thing I know I was getting a call to schedule an appointment to fix the ice dispenser. I decided there was too much shadiness going on and I was not going to continue with the company. About 1 month later I get a bill for the service he completed on the freezer. I had paid him by check the day of the service and it had been cashed! I contacted the company and asked them what the bill was for. They weren't sure and said they would call me back. They never did. While this company does have good technicians, I don't like their billing practices. There is a lack of communication regarding pricing and I felt like they were a little shady about billing and costs.
Description of Work: My freezer wasn't freezing, it was only a cool temp. My ice maker would not dispense ice.

Easy repair, we called the dealer, and they had Appliance Service by Paul call us the next day, to set up an appointment. The tech came up to the house to confirm the part(s) needed, and then ordered them. It took a few days to arrive, and they came out to the house and swapped them out in about 15 minutes.
Description of Work: They completed a warranty repair on a dryer we purchased from Ferguson, and Appliance Service by Paul is their repair company of choice. This repair took two trips, both on time, and the technician Tyler showed up both times inside the window, AND called ahead of time to let me know he would be at our front door shortly. He even took off his shoes at the front door.
